Dont you hate this type of irony? T.T
So I'm 23 years old (yay!) I got out of college about two years ago and I've been working since then (yay me!). The thing is that I never took a loan for college, I didnt really need it since I got a scholarship <3 (another yay!)
The funny thing is that when you get out of college no one tells you that you have absolutely noooo credit, if you dont own a house, a car, or have never taken a loan (aha!). Where's the dilema? Where Im from if you dont have a single speck of credit, no one will give you a freakin credit card!!!!! So here I am a 23 year old with no credit, getting turned down by every single credit card company because I dont have any credit. I went looking the other day for a cell phone. No service provider would give me a cell phone because I have NO CREDIT! It sucks. How can I get credit if no one will give me any? Discuss:

I had that same problem when I was looking for a credit card. I used Capital one to get my card and they accepted my application even though I didn’t have any credit. You can also get a pay as you go phone, that way you don’t have to have credit.

I don't have a cell phone, ut I do believe in order to get credit, you need a credit card. That way, after a month of you proving that you can pay back anything you bought on it, giving you good credit, then you might be able to buy a phone.
Or at least that is what I was told. Do you have a bank account? |
You sound smart if you got out of college that early. Did you graduate early from high school, college, or both? if you don't mind me asking. I don't know anything about credit, so I'm sorry I can't really help you out there. Have you tried talking to your parents and asking what they would do? i envy your independence though. x) If my academic plan works out and I get accepted, I'm going to go to college two years early and get my junior & senior years of high school and my freshman & sophomore years of college done simultaneously. |

Basically they don't want to take a phone for me under their name (they already have my two sibblings phones under their names). I think I'll apply for the JC Penny card (I've been told that you can get credit from it) and we'll see what happens O.o Nah! Majhra- Oh! Well thank you. : ) I try. Yours are cute, too.<33 ah, I envy you. I really want to get out of high school as quickly as I can. full of idiots & stupid teachers. Unfortunately, I'm a freshman. haha.. I have a long way to go. The JC penny card sounds like a good idea- I hope you get your credit! I can relate. I want to be independent, but I can't live without other people. haha. And I want to finish early just to get a head start. I'm really ambitious, and if I got accepted into Texas Academy of Math and Science, I could finish up college really easily and go to really good schools a lot easier. I just want the best career I can get in life, I suppose. I like getting head starts. I want to be a lawyer or a psychologist. & heehee, getting married. I have been with my boyfriend for two years, but idk if we could actually last THAT long. He's applying for TAMs, too, so..we'll see how that goes. : ) |

Some companies are just ridiculous. I can't tell you much about credit, seeing how I'm only fifteen, so I don't really need any. There has to be SOMEONE willing to take you though. Otherwise, no one would have credit. XD Good luck hunting. |
thanks for the warning. i have a feeling i'm going to come across the same exact problem, because my family is going to pay my entire college tuition. so because of that, i won't have any credit. D: |

I totally understand where you are coming from but I have bad credit, thanks to being a nice person. I let my mother have the home phone on in my name and she never paid the bill and so my credit has gone through the roof as it was a rather large bill that I couldn't afford. So now I can't get anything on credit like a credit card, loan, mobile phone or rent anything. I also hate it when companies have to check everything. Thats what I found out when I first started renting. I tried being honest on the form but wasn't getting anywhere so I had to tell little white lies to be able to get a look in. I am 23 also and am loving being independant but there are so many expectations put on you and the worse thing is no one warns you about them. Depending on what road you go down you have to live up to every single little thing. I am still studying and work casually but I live with my fiance so there I am lucky that my household bills are cut down but still I am looked at like I am going to pop out the little ones at any minute, geez I'd like a life first I think. There ya go, my random rant is finished

OMG! Yay for me! I did it! I applied for the JC Penny card and got accepted!!! Yay they gave it to me with $500.00 which is way more than enough for me ^^ I just hope I'm able to gatter up enough credit before my current cellphone contract expires O.o (this contract I got by paying a deposit ewww they'll give it back, but now no other company is doing it x.x which is why the whole credit thing)
But its one step up! Yay! Thanks you guys for your support and comments. Still pissed at the whole credit thing but another heads up: If you have a job, you could also try to apply for the JC Penny card and build your credit. I've been told to buy little things like $10.00 every month and pay it when the bill comes right away. That way you build credit ^^ and look reliable <3 Muggles: Well that is very smart, you are a youngwoman that uses her head ^^ blah! Highschool, but I had some pretty good times as well, I made very good friends there(crazy freaks I love them <3) Well I hope everything works out well for the both of you ^^ Lovvy: Thanks for the luck! <3 manic monochrome: Eeek!
