Ooh! The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade!

---PARADES.

I have been watching this parade on television ever since I was younger. When I was younger all I wanted to do was to see the parade and floats. I used to get annoyed whenever they would do a snippet/song from a musical. (These days, they have grown on me. I blame my drama class. All the drama department does is put on musicals.)

One of my teaches is there. I don't know if I could handle the chaos of getting there, and after the parade ends.

Are you watching?
If yes, why?
If no, why?
How long have you been watching it?
Ever seen it in purpose?

Not when they hand out free candy and necklaces.

My school did that for their homecoming parade. I had enough candy and jewelry to last me a few months...or days.

  • FREE CANDY ?! WHERE ?! XD
    Okay true, you`ve got a point there . x3

I know.

No one can argue with the logic of free candy.

Yay for the Parade!! <33

Michigan is cool because we have parades. XD haha.

butterscotch 11-22-2007 03:23 PM

THANK YOU. Because I had forgotten, again.

I literally forget to watch the parade every. single. year. I usually remember several hours after it's over. xD

  • I'm watching it. x]
Only to see the VT marching band though. <3

I used to watch the Macy's Parade every year but not this year. I didn't have any time.

I like going to parades and watching them. They make me feel festive.

Lolly 11-22-2007 06:38 PM

I watched it earlier.
Pikachu has ALWAYS been my favorite float.
n3n<333
And every time Kermit came down the street,I'd start getting excited.
 <3

Its a tradition to watch it every year, and then the Dog Competition.
Which I'm watching now. :B
I want to go see it live,I wouldn't care about the crowds.

I sure do like Toronto's Santa Claus Parade.

fuyumi_saito 11-23-2007 06:57 AM

I've only seen the parade once. I didn't see it today though. I'm not really interested in parades.. I mean, what's so interesting about watching people walk around, and floats?

Well...Floats are kind of cool.

Eh, I don't like watching parades on T.V. That's kinda
dull. It's funner to go there in person. Even then
it's not that fun unless you're really into it. xD

One time I went to a parade and all they did for about
a half hour was drive a bunch of cars, fire trucks,
ambulances, etc. It was loud and annoying. :(

I love the idea of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.... But, unfortunately, I get super-duper bored watching it on tv.

I really enjoy studying the costumes and watching the performances and the tv medium doesn't really allow me to do that properly. Or it didn't the last few times I tried watching the parade. :c

I can tell you, though... As a former Colorguard member who has marched in several parades, they are not a lot of fun to do. By the time you get to the end of the parade route, even if it's short, your smile is strained.

memarcus 11-23-2007 07:54 AM

i really enjoy watching parades on tv, and i would not want to be there in person. the crowds are just too insane. even where i live, there are huge crowds at the parades, you have to stand the entire time in order to see and that is especially difficult if you happen to be of short height, and you are out in the bitter cold to view the events. much better sitting in the comfort of home watching tv in my opinion.

everybody says they watch the parades for the balloons, but i don't. i'm sorry, but all the balloons do is float, and they are just larger versions of the kind that i get at the local store. i enjoy watching the floats. they're so colorful. and the marching bands/dancers are entertaining to watch too.

  • I watched the Detroit Thanksgiving Parade. It had my highschool marching band in it haha..

Ahh.. was fun watching them go by on TV. >_>

manic monochrome 11-23-2007 08:02 AM

i agree with bunnyy.
i think they're boring.

imawalrusrawr 11-23-2007 05:33 PM

Gush 11-24-2007 03:17 AM

@ walrus:

Say what?

Kasey 11-24-2007 03:26 AM

They turned the parade on, but nobody watched it.
The guys waited until it was over just so they could watch football.
I've never really watched it before.
I think parades are boring unless you're actually there.
And they're still kind of boring even if you are there.

Takuto 11-24-2007 04:40 AM

I was going to watch it since my cousin was going to be in there. (she was supposedly in a school band or something.) I would have watched my cousin play her flute if I didn't had to work for Black Friday Shopping! T_T.

Shishunki 11-24-2007 05:05 AM

It's a tradition for me to watch it. I only liked the floats and balloons when I was a kid. But I love most of it now. Not the bad current singers though... >>
The musicals and dances I love though! :D
It's a good show to watch while doing art. X3
