I was looking through the information packages for universities of Ontario a couple of weeks ago, and one degree offered is Women Studies. And I think it would be neat for me to do say, a major in English or history and a minor in women studies.
-However I told some people about this and they said, why the hell would you want to learn about women. Well, my writing throughout my high school career has somehow always reflected the oppression of the female voice, and women's rights.
I just think it would be interesting to take it because I'm interested in it, and it sounds very appealing to me.
So..my question is, Do you think it's wrong for a guy to learn in the field of women studies?

Yah, I guess a person would always be faced with like oh well he's only taking that so he can pick up girls and stuff like that.

Precisely.
Just be genuine.
I forgot who said it, I believe it was Ghandi but:
"Be genuine, be yourself, and no harm nor foul can come to thee."
Believe it.

Not at all. I think those people are just closed minded. If you want to study that, then go for it. ^^

If you're interested in woman studies and want to do it, go for it. Those people who say it's wrong, forget them.

There are a lot of people who think like that and it is very hard to forget them. They make up our society and influence what other people think. Even we want to forget them, truthfully we listen.
I hope I made sense...

There's no wrong in it at all; the choice is completely your own.
Don't let other people bring you down, Wynna. If it's something you think you'll enjoy, then it's definitely worth doing. And if other people can't see past their own assumptions, then they're not worth your time - you shouldn't have to explain yourself to them.
I support what's already been said, as well. <3

- I don't see anything wrong with it. You're interested in women's rights is a good thing. :3 If it's your high school friends that you asked about it, then I don't think you should take their advice. When you're in college, it is much more open minded. There are tons of different kinds of people majoring in different things.
Personally I think it's a bit more creepy when guys strive to become gynecologists. xD

- No, I don't think it's wrong. One of my friends in my college (we knew each other in high school) is taking Women's Studies currently and I think he's enjoying it. I never questioned why he did it, but it's probably because it fills our Humanities requirement. So you can do it if you like. I'm taking that when I'm an upperclassman.

i know some people might have immature behaviors or reactions that consist of accusing others of just trying to get dates by studying that course. but no, there's nothing wrong with studying about different genders, cultures, religions, or sexual identities. whatever you study only increases your knowledge and understanding of the world. so, i think that whatever you pursue in life, you shouldn't allow the juvenile opinions of others to guide your decisions, especially since they appear to have a far more judgmental and inappropriate mentality than you do.

If girls can study guys, I don't see where its wrong for guys to study girls. I really don't see anything wrong with either. If you want to, then you should go for it and not worry what people are going/ do say. They'll get over it in time and who knows it may help them out day just by knowing you. XD

I don't see a law against it. I say go for it, and if people say otherwise or give you crap about it, threaten to shave their hair while they're sleeping.

- I don't see anything wrong with it. I see a lot of guys in my university's women studies courses. A lot of them are feminists. Like other posters have said...be true to yourself. If that is where your interests lie, go for it. Don't let others stop you. This is for you and your future, not for them.
The people who think that it's wrong are probably the same people who think women should only stay in the house and nurture children instead of pursuing an education and a career.

Pfft, no, of course it's not wrong. People can learn about whatever they damn well want to, and it's silly to say otherwise.
It's as if the university refused to let me take a module in Middle Eastern Studies just because I'm white, or something.
You do what interests you, and don't let idiots hold you back.
