I am not a vegetarian, but I don't eat a lot of meat. Mainly because of what I learnd about animal torture. I don't eat as much meat as the people in my family do, so I guess I'm doing okay..

People become vegetarians because they don't want to eat meat, can't eat meat, or were raised not to eat meat.

I'm not a vegeterian. I just like meat too much. I think highly of vegeterians, though. They believe in something and they're able to stick with it. Completely unlike myself. xD

I love animals, but I have enough problems getting enough protien without cutting something like meat out of my diet.

Besides, humans are meant to eat meat. Our teeth prove it. I don't want to mess with nature.

I had a friend once who would get mad every time I ate a burger or a turkey sandwich for lunch, saying how cruel I am.

We didn't stay friends for a long time.

I'm a vegeterian because I just can't imagine eating something else that has a heart, I just can't do it . . .

I'm a vegetarian for several reasons..but I don't feel like writing the whole thing out...^^;
But I don't care whether other people eat meat or not, it's just an individual choice/lifestyle..:]
Personally, I think it's annoying how people say things about hating vegetarians and vegans and stuff like that. Its a choice and there's nothing wrong with it just like theres nothing wrong with people liking meat. :D

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't like eating meat that
often. I'd rather have a nice big plate of pasta, soup, etc.

Well...I tried to become a vegetarian one time
and well, it was really hard. I was raised on red meat and chicken so I just couldn't give those up.
But now I find myself not eatting so much red meat at all, the only meat I eat now is chicken. I would
like to become a veg. because I love tofo, sushi, veggie burgers, and salad and prefer them to most
foods. I just can't stop eatting chicken once in awhile so I can't say I'm a veg head XD

I would become a vegetarian for animal rights though. I think its terrible the way many animals are raised and killed for food production.

Well, personally I respect Vegetarians.
I wish I could quit meat, but it just aint going to happen. So I respect those who really do have the will to do it.
I'm an animal lover and a Earth/hippie child.

I'm not a vegetarian because if I was while growing up, I would starve. Pretty much everything my dad made had meat in it. Plus, it's good for my body if I eat meat. I have a fast metabolism, so I need the extra fat. If I don't get that extra fat, I can lose 5-10 lbs within a week O_o

I would totally go vegetarian if I didn't have such a fast metabolism...and if I didn't love the taste of steak so much...

  • I want to be vegetarian/vegan.

First off, I read this book called "Skinny Bitch" by this couple of girls -- one's a former Ford Model Agent, the other is a chick with a Holistic Nutrition degree. It's not just stuff about PETA that makes me want to stop eating meat, but how meat is packaged and sold to us -- basically with infections, sickness, toxic waste, and the like. As for milk...cows aren't supposed to be milked forever, only when they have their babies. In factory farms, there are these weird things hooked up to their udders that the constant squeezing and pulling gets the cow's udders infected, squeezing out weird things, milk, and PUS. I'm not here to be preaching to the choir, but these are reasons why I'm choosing not to consume products from animals.

Do we really want to be putting stuff like that in our mouths, nonetheless our bodies? After reading this, the thesis from these two girls (Kim Barnoun and Rory Friedman I think, can't quite remember coz my book is under my bed) is that the only true way you can get skinny is to live a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. So they're the reason I'm now on the way to becoming vegetarian.

I'm actually doing a speech on this for Monday with my group so any tips you guys can give me here would be appreciated.

I think some people do because they think it's a cool trend, but i think most of them do it because of their beliefs or animal rights.

I'm not vegetarian, but i wish i was. =/ I just can't because i love a lot of foods with meat. =[

I'm a bit conflicted ^__^; I've always leaned towards becoming a vegetarian -- for personal reasons (like, I hate the thought that I sometimes eat the same bird I would play with in a petting zoo, or a bird that could fly so gracefully through the sky) -- and for ecological reasons (it takes so much more land and resources to raise animals for eating purposes than it does to just consume non-animal products), but I also think that... You know, circle of life, man ^__^; We eat animals, but once we die, animals eat us. I guess the fallacy there is that we do raise animals specifically for the purpose of slaughtering them xP

I might explore it more once I'm out of my house (I still live with my mom and my brother -- both of whom have no problem eating meat -- which is okay. It's a choice of lifestyle xD; ) -- It's also important to take into consideration though that it can be so dangerous and unhealthy if you're not careful about how you go about vegetarianism. Like, if you don't get the protein you need, you could lose your hair, among other things! x3; You just have to be careful, I suppose.

As it is, I eat meat -- but I generally avoid pork and beef. (More because I don't like the taste of it though.) I eat poltry and fish, for the most part. ^__^; Maybe I'm half vegetarian? xD

Well i love meat tooo much to stop eating it. Many of the animle crulty vidoes out there is showing killing animals at its worst. Not all meat companys do that!
But hey if your a vegetarian then more power to yea!
but i have two reason why i stick to meat and vegis!
One- my mom had a friend who was vegan. she dident get enough of somthing so while bitting into a brocly (steamed brocly) her two front teeth just popped right out.. 0-o just feel...

2. If you think about it. Plants are living creatures to. Its been provin that when sombody aproches a plant it well vibrate. It well vibrate even more when a person comes up to it that normle feeds the plant.
(when i say vibrate i mean the eltric pulses)
Anyhow dosent that mean it also has a soul? Plants just cant scream there protest at us or bleed to make us feel bad..

Im just making it equal so one side dosent feel like im pickin on it ^ ^

Plus.. i have a low blood suger.. so i needs me meats and peanutbutter! lols ^ ^

88Note: somthing to dfend on the animle cruilty ( i dont support it but just somthing els to think about)) lion and wolfs somtimes eat animls while there still alive! ok the animle is dieing but now slowly and having the feeling of being ripped apart..)) yes morbid. but sombody had to bring it up))

I like my meat, as sad as that might be to some of you, although it does suck to eat another living thing, especially one that feels pain, (;__;) I simply just can't cut meat, it's important for my diet and it just tastes so good. <_<
And we humans, fought our way to the top of the food chain, so I guess we deserve to eat other animals?

Although I would like the animals to be treated better before they die, those mass animal producing farms are just god awful.

But don't even get me started on the evil companies that exploit the "cruelty" of eating meat, just to make a few cents. *cough*Peta*cough*

I was a vegetarian for 3-4 years. Mostly just because I really loved animals, and also because my Grandfather killed one of our pet cows and tried to make me eat it with them, so that kind of traumatized me. x.x

But I started eating some meat again, and eventually just gave up the whole vegetarian thing completely.

I grew up in a rural part of the country where we raised most of our own meat and yes, I still eat meat. The thing with raising your own is that to a certain extent you detach yourself from those animals, as in you don't allow yourself to become attached to them because you know they're going to end up in the freezer.

My cousin is a vegetarian because she doesn't like meat. I also have a sister who isn't real fond of it so she eats very little meat but the rest of the family consumes plenty.

As far as vegetarianism vs. meat eating goes, I have a huge theory about it.

I've tried eating only very small portions to none at all and it just doesn't work for me. There are also a lot of things other people eat that I can't. For example, foods made with sugar and highly processed flours make me physically ill. I have to eat a fairly small amount of carbohydrates in the form of low-glycemic fruits (no bananas, apples or grapes--for me they're junk food), legumes and whole grains. I also eat a lot of green vegetables. Everyone has different dietary requirements and they have to find what works best for them. My body runs much better on protein and fat.

I’m a vegetarian and don’t care what other people have to say about it. I’ve been one for over two years and I’m healthier now than I was when I was eating meat. I was severely underweight and since I cut meat out of my diet I actually gained weight and I’m now at a healthy weight. I go to a nutritionist and make sure that I eat plenty of things that have protein in them to make sure I stay healthy. Quran (sp?) brand and Morningstar farms makes some excellent meat alternatives. Boca is also a decent brand. The nice thing about meat alternatives is that they can be cooked just like meat can be.

I hate when people just do it because it’s a trend or because they believe all the crap that PETA feeds them and don’t do anything thinking for themselves. I also can’t stand those people that think just because I’m a vegetarian all I eat is salads or those people that try out the lifestyle and just eat salads. It’s not a good way to stay healthy if you try just living on lettuce and that’s when a lot of vegetarians get sick. As with any diet, if you take care of yourself it works out.

I also don’t believe that animals should be slaughtered just so humans can eat them. I don’t think there’s any truly human way to kill an animal in a slaughter house. Captive bolts do cause pain and a lot of times it’s not done right so the animal struggles until they either end up dying or they’re slaughtered alive. Chemicals can’t be used due to how they’re stored in the animals system after they die. To keep this short, I’ve been in slaughter houses before and seeing how the animals are kept first hand is enough to keep me away from meat for the rest of my life.

I'd love to be a vegitarian, but i'm too lazy to do all that work :(
So, like everything else unbareable with humans, i try as hard as i possibly can to not think about the poor animals.

Although, i would never be a vega, that's just stupid!
I mean, come on! no eggs? or milk and cheese?
that's not hurting the animal!
If they're so worried about how the cows are treated on milking farms, why don't they just buy milk that came form a more humane farm?! (which is very easy to find)
Also, some go as far as to not even wear wool! that's just shaving the sheep, what's the big deal?

anyways... i'm not a vegetarian, but i wish i had to will to be xD

Yes, I agree with you. Most of the reason a lot of vegetarians and vegans are unhealthy is because they don't know enough about it and how to stay healthy. Thats why alot of people think its unhealthy, but it is a lot healthier for you if you do know how to get enough protien and calcium and everything. :]
