Are you Scared of AIDS?

no not the user Ive seen around with that name >.<
no I was just thinking about it because my mom seems so scared about it and always talks to me about it and seems like a good friend of hers died from AIDS in the her teenage years ...
I dont know...maybe there is something wrong with me but...Im not scared...I dont think a person can be infected if you took some simple precausions...now having sex with someone with AIDS that is another thing...I would never ever do...when I think about that then yes I get scared, but having freidns who have aids (im gonna write it in small letters cause a teacher said it makes it less painful for people) and having a bf maybe idk...I dont like thinking of people being so special cause they have aids...I want to see all of them like friends who are ill like some others are ill with some other illnesses...

My teacher gave us a special class on aids while ago and she said people shouldnt be scared because cancer kills faster than aids sometimes...or some other illnesses and that nowadays people with aids can live like people with diabetes in a normal way.

I would really like to be friends or meet some teen with this illness so I can have a first hand comment on the subject.
I dont know anyone with aids, do you?

Are you scared of aids?
Are you scared of cancer?
Are you scared of any other illness?

dessertdesiert 11-30-2007 09:29 PM

I am not scared of aids.. unless I was at chance for it or something like that or I had gotten it.. then I might be scared.. but people with it I am not scared of..

I am kinda scared if I had cancer.. but the same thing with Aids, I am not scared of the actual disease.. because it's not really contagious... but if somehow got either of these I would be scared..

The only thing I am scared of is Mengitis.. because I am going off to college next fall and that is a college disease and the effects of it are really severe that I should be scared...

I don't know anyone with aids or cancer. I am a little scared. Although I don't really do stuff that would allow me to get cancer or aids. So I'm not too worried. Although if I do get it I'll be sad T.T

I rarely get sick and when I do I almost always pull through it. I'm not even sure about most of the diseases out there because I never get sick. I do know of common ones, but I don't really know about ones I'm really scared of. I would have to say though that I'm scared of heart disease maybe. Although I don't really worry over it because the people that get that are out of shape and stuff like that, but I'm in good shape and plan to stay that way.

Are you scared of aids?
No, im planing on not having sex so freely and haveing my mate tested for aids before we do much of anything. (of coures i'll do the test to so it wont be too bad u now )
Are you scared of cancer?
It runs in the faimly
Are you scared of any other illness?

U know, i really dont think too much about this stuff.
Why live in fear?
Cancer many of them its not like you can stop it before hand
and illnesses i really dont stress out about. Yea i do wash my hands more during the school year and hide my noes around sick people (couse im very easly given colds.. )

But why be stressed?
We have enough things to worry, about am i right?

I'm more scared of a car accident then I am any disease or cancer.

I've never known anyone with aids, but you're right, if one can afford the medication, they can live a pretty normal life. I think I heard something on TV with someone saying they've had aids for 22 years?

I fear for all of the aids infected people in Africa, though. They can't afford the meds. D:

Kenshin~ Cancer is partially genetic. >.> There's not really a way to 'get' cancer. It's caused by repeated gene mutations that form a tumor.

dessertdesiert 11-30-2007 09:35 PM

Ithir.. I thought that you have a higher risk of having skin cancer if you are out in the sun alot

I'm not afraid of aids.
Two of my really good friends
have it
and i had an uncle that
died from HIV.
I'm not afraid
of cancer either.

@ithir- carwrecks arent all that horrible, i've been in seven of them.

Princess of your Heart 11-30-2007 09:39 PM

But you can get cancer from the cathodic rays from tvs (the old ones not lcd ones) and monitors....and for having unhelathy eating havits like too much junk food and because of stress and extreme sadness...o.o

Yeah 11-30-2007 09:40 PM

There is no reason to be afraid of aids as long as proper precautions are taken in all situations. It isn't just sex, I work as an aide at an elementary school and we even need to wear gloves if a kid gets hurt and is bleeding. Most cancers can be pretty much cured anymore as long as they are caught soon enough so, I'm not worried about that either. Our bodies are made to ward off most illnesses so, there really isn't a whole lot to worry about. The way I tend to look at things is, there isn't much you can do if it does happen so why be a worry wart?

Ithir 11-30-2007 09:42 PM

Ah, this is true, skin cancer is the one where you can really increase your chances of a mutation occurring (UV light damages genes).

I was just thinking in the broad sense of mutations= cancer, and forgot that whole sun thing.

Princess~ Really? I've never heard of that.

mystic kiwi 11-30-2007 10:20 PM

Even with being careful, someone could lie about having AIDS so asking isn’t always reliable. Condoms aren’t 100% effective either. But no, I don’t worry about AIDS because I don’t sleep around with random people and never have. I’ve only been with my husband so I don’t have anything to worry about that.

What I can’t stand is those people that go and sleep around with people without thinking twice about STDs and things like that in general. People who sleep around bug me in general for various other reasons that I’m not going to get into right now.

As far as cancer goes, I’m not really worried about it all too much. It runs in my family so I have to be careful as far as that goes, but I’m not paranoid about getting it. Apparently everything can give you cancer now a days so I tend not to dwell on it. The way I see it, is if I get it, I get it.

Any other illness I look at the same way. I’ve been sick every year for the past three years so bad that I’ve had to go to the hospital so I don’t worry about getting sick because I kind of expect it now. It’s not the worst thing that can happen anyway so it’s not really all that bad since it hasn’t killed me yet. The way I see it is that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.

Princess of your Heart 11-30-2007 10:39 PM

ohhh what did you have kiwi? so sorry

Staff Sergeant 11-30-2007 10:53 PM

What doesn't kill you doesn't always make you stronger.
ALS anyone?

Anywho.

I remember when I was about 19 this one guy was sleeping around, and was completely convinced he couldn't get AIDS unless he:
A)Sinned to a severe extent
B)Was Homosexual
C)Was incestual
(Oh yes. He was a hard-core ultra orthodox Christian.)

He slept with the wrong girl, and BAM!He got severely ill.
Doctors said it was HIV.
The next month, it turned into AIDS.

In my opinion, he deserved it for only listening to what his mother told him and not what his teachers told him. (Oh wait... he probably was home schooled.... hmmm.)
Well, He's about my age now. He's 33. He still lives with his parents.

Personally, I'm not worried about it because I haven't done the "chicka bow woh" in about... 2 years?

Don't make fun of me.

But no. I'm not afraid of it. I'm smarter than that. I'm not gonna go bang some slut who did the whole High school class for the past 5 years.
Even if I did, "Test, bitch!"

Dystopia 11-30-2007 10:56 PM

Nope. I guess its hard for me to truly grasp the concept of myself dying, considering that I'm pretty young and its not that often you think about someone my age dying.

Even so, I'd have to say that the thought of cancer would scare me more than AIDS. I'm responsible enough not to go having kids before I'm married, or so I hope. Cancer, on the other hand, is just there.

Princess of your Heart 11-30-2007 11:04 PM

Staff Sergeant no sex in 2 years and you are 33...okk...... xD

I believe I'm not scared of aids, because I know my girlfriend doesn't have AIDS and me neither. We've had sex without condoms (only 1 time) but from there on we've used protection always... for... other reasons. >_>
NO BABIES ALLOWED, thank you!
