:D Kewl!! I love medieval clothing. xD Hehe
That's awesome you and your mom get along so well with that. My mom isn't really into fashion, she just likes the clothes she wears. And thats good! But I don't like it that she doesn't let me wear outfits I like because she thinks they look weird and aren't normal clothing like everyday people. ;-; But, I LIKE them! Dx
I want to die my hair light blue! *_*

Anywayz, I do not dress how i'm expected to dress or whats "in". I dress how I like to and don't care what people think about it. :P Okay, maybe I do care somewhat..>.>..but if I wasn't so shy, I wouldn't care at all what people think. :P

As I've gotten older I've noticed that most of the clothes I buy are work clothes - so slacks, pinstripe pants, skirts, button down shirts, sweaters, etc . . .

I only own 5 pairs of jeans- and I just bought 3 of them within the last 2 months - and most of my t-shirts are bought at the salvation army, gifts, or leftover from high school.

I wear what I am comfortable in, and what I think looks nice.

The only 'fashion' I see is what the prosta-tots wear on campus - and I am definately not interested in wearing anything with words on the ass, ugg botts (summer or winter) and the other crap they seem to think is fashionable.

(And I just made myself sound really old . . . :( )

Haha, I'm probably not what my parents expected. It's not that I'm a rebel or something crazy like that... It's more of the fact that I'm not very ambitious. I don't really officially know what I want to do with the rest of my life.
My parents really never put too many expectations on me as far as appearance goes. I wear whatever but I know when I should look nice for certain occasions. They didn't pressure me into girly clothes or anything of the like.

Atreyu 12-03-2007 03:10 PM

I tend to dress and act however I want.
Unless I know there is a required or appropriate dress and behavior.

But normally I don't let people control me and how I express myself.
I wear just about anything.
And I speak my mind and follow my own style.
Sure, my style fits into other styles.
But nobody can really put a label on me.

(:

Black Phoenix Risen 12-04-2007 12:16 AM

I wear whatever the heck I want and can afford.
I wear school skirts over jeans, thigh-high socks with shorts, jackets over hoodies, etc.
I don't care what people think of me, just as long as I'm comfortable with what I'm wearing. Which, I am proud to say, is why I never leave my house without my Naruto headband on first.
Yeah, I'm an otaku, and I show it in my clothes.
xD

So if you see a girl with a skirt over jeans, and a Naruto headband wandering around a mall and looking lost, that's me. ^_^

But, I think that the best type of fashion is the one that you like best. There's no fun in wearing clothes you think don't look good on you or fit you right.

I wear what my mother calls "adult" clothing. >.<

I normally wear dress pants and turtlenecks with my hair up in a bun. Sometimes I wear it down and people look at me like "Rei has hair?!"

Or I'll surprise everyone and wear a t-shirt with Marilyn Manson on it and a pair of jeans.

I remember this one time I wore a v-neck shirtdress thing with jeans, and everyone had the shock of their life. I mean, from what everyone tells me, I have a nice chest (I'm a DD and only 4' 10" O.o) and for me to wear what they call a "cleavage shirt" was... impressive. xD

I stun a few people sometimes by going outside of my "fashion lines" but whatever.

I wear pajamas to school too. They're comfortable. =D

Elemental Cotton 12-04-2007 01:14 AM

I just wear a pair of pants, throw on a shirt (I usually don't which since I almost always have my coat on).

Most of the clothes I wear are mostly black because I heard darker fabric hold in heat, and well, I'm always cold. I'll even wake up with cold feet during summer. I don't really focus on getting "fashionable" shirts and pants because most of the shirts and pants look so ugly to me and they're rather pointless. I tend to buy clothes that I think are cool, like my trench coat and boots. What can I say? I like showing off my trench coat and boots.

Also, I'm slightly crazy about how I dress. I'm obsessed with black and purple so I'll wear black and purple, nothing else. xD

Popcorn Gun 12-04-2007 01:28 AM

I wear what I like to wear.
All outfits must fit my very important three C standanard.
Cute.
Comfortable.
Coordinated.

I like to look my best and to do that it needs to look overall nice, accessories help, and needs to match.
I rank this a top priority.
If it looks nice but is a pain in the asprin to wear, I won't.
x' D
Now it just happens to turn out that people like what I wear. I don't follow fashion, I set it.

  • I wear what matches me. Screw fashion. Screw doing what others do or what's expected of me. If it complements me, alright, I'll wear it. If it's comfortable and a good deal, I'll get it. If it's a decent quality, great, I'm there.

My outfits are usually a shirt, jeans, and a hoodie. I'll spice it up sometimes.

I'm not unique, different, a trendsetter...I'm boring. And proud! Woot! XD

DIY or Die

DIY or Die.
That is the motto of my favorite DIY fashion site.
It's all about designing, personalizing, and making your own clothes.
My style of clothing is conservative but always gives off a different air.
Sometimes I'm cute and huggable.
Sometimes I'm sad and emo.
I dress for the day and just do my own thing.
The styles this year are so terrible I can't buy clothes anymore.

disturbed66 12-05-2007 12:40 AM

i wear whatever i grab in the morning. It could be my very larg hellsing shirts or bands shirt (disturbed koRn the works)
or it can even swing to me wearing a nice white long sleeve shirt dress pants and a vest.

Like i said.. whatever i grab from my closet. I am me.. in a trench coat.. lols... There so warm ^ ^

jozpe 12-05-2007 02:01 AM

I love reading all of your responses. x3 It makes me amazed that people can be so unique and different. I've always thought that clothing is like an expression of yourself.

However, I don't think you could really label my style, it's pretty odd & slightly retro. I love 60's style dresses, and really shapeless large things paired with skinny jeans or heels. Leg warmers and leggings are also a must. o__o Oh yes, converse are my shoes of choice. I do read a lot of fashion magazines, but I'm not a trendwhore in the least. x3

Bleeding Rose 12-05-2007 06:58 PM

Though I am a bit on the fashion queen side, I wear what I think looks good on me. No matter what that is. I'm not all "I HAVE to wear this and that". In fact, I ussually shop at Khol's. I just make sure that whatever I buy looks good on my akwardly shaped body.

TheSatah 12-05-2007 08:47 PM

I wear things that I really like and that I think are flattering to my body. P: Like, I don't want to feel totally un-attractive or anything, that's a crappy feeling. xD

I do a lot of layering and I wear lots of colours n_n I like bright colours and patterns P: Plaid, especially! AHH, I love plaid. I love shirts with words on them >> I'm sooo into that trend.

I never wear pants that aren't jeans, though. *Laugh* I love my jeans. :B

Caroline 12-06-2007 05:50 AM

  • I rather love who I am. ;D

I do tend to incorporate a bit from new trends into my style, but I find nothing wrong with that since I like how it looks and I make it work.

neur0mancer 12-06-2007 02:53 PM

I acnt say im proud, but thats not a bad thing.
I just wear jeans and t-shirts, whats to be proud of there?
"You wear normal clothes! YEAH! GO YOU! BE PROUD!" :?

Occasionally i'll break out some hot pink tights or a colorful shirt, but thats as far as I go.

I dont really see fashion sense as something to be... proud of, you know?
Great. you like a certain style of clothing. Thats nice.
Who cares if you want to follow a trend?
It just means that you like it as much as the other people do.
And why do we wear the clothes we do?
Because we like them.

8bit Girls Bravo 12-10-2007 03:38 PM

There's nothing wrong with being trendy. It still takes a certain amount of skill to take current trends and make them fit you. Everyone is differently shaped. If you can take something that's popular on the runway and make it look good on your, say, size-14, pear-shaped body (*cough* mine *cough*), then I'd say you should be pretty damn proud.

I used to dress with the express purpose of looking "different". Looking back on it, I looked exactly the same as every other weeaboo wannabe fruits 15 year old.

Now I actually read fashion magazines and, yes, follow certain styles (gyaru-kei!) fairly religiously.
I make it work on me though. And, sorta following what I said earlier, it's not all that easy to take something that's modeled by skinny Japanese girls and make it work on a chunky Italian chick. It's fun, though 8D

Everyone needs to have fun with fashion. Dressing with the express purpose of looking like everybody else is boring, but so is dressing with the express purpose of looking different.

Chiisabaku no Konan 12-10-2007 06:51 PM

I'm more into retro/vintage, or I'll generally wear what looks good on me. I also enjoy wearing fanbased shirts, like tees with The Beatles on it, which I happen to be wearing right now. Or my Panic! At The Disco shirt which I'll wear once in a blue moon, aswell. I tend to have my own style, as quoted by many people. I don't think I'd ever be found wearing something like a corset over a white blouse or something, because that's just not me, but more like a cutesy tee with jeans, boots or my everyday casual Gotta Flurt's. And possibly some sunglasses. x] I don't ever wear hats, by the way.

Ende 12-10-2007 07:15 PM

I spent a long time trying to fit in to the style My mother liked as well, I finally got fed up and started buying my own clothing on the side and slipping them in.
We -still- argue over it. She's convinced I'll grow out of liking renaissance and Gothic styles of clothing.
But I'm working full time at a desk job and I don't see it changing any time soon since not even the International Customers have minded my...probably odd style of Dress and dark clothing.

I say, definatly wear what your comfortable in. At the same time, just as a bit of advice keep some 'near normal' clothing on hand that looks a touch more main stream. You never know when It might come in handy. :3

But on that same note, sometimes compromise builds acceptance. It took her a long time to accept my knee high leather lace up boots. (Their not combat boots, they have rose shaped latches that you hook the laces about.) But she took more favor to them when I pointed out that the heel was the best one I had ever worn for days I had to spend on my feet.

Calero 12-10-2007 08:33 PM

I say what i think =]

But im not a fashion drone lol I just find somethign real quick that looks good and is comfortable,i don't like fashion drones they bother me >.<

ForkoFried 12-10-2007 08:36 PM

No one dresses up as goth because they think it's cool, you must have it confused with emo.
Emo has been ruined faster than any genre of music i've ever seen!
It is really bands like poison the well and silverstein or whatever,
untill all this little prep bitches who wanted to be goth but were to pussy to fully become goth, started emo.
Now people are calling Fall out boy and MCR and even linkin park emo!
I'm offened! xD
Those used to be good music untill they got labeled as emo.
Even so, emo is still a minority.
While more people seem to be emo online, that's simply because they do in fact stand out, so you remember everytime you see someone with a black striped hair more often than you remember someone with a hollister shirt on and brown straight hair like every other girl.

Anyways, i like to dress grunge all the way, although idiots sometimes think it's goth... xD

Kaerou 12-10-2007 10:18 PM

I wear what I feel comfortable in.It's as simple as that.If I don't feel comfortable wearing something I won't wear it.Problem is that I feel comfortable in stuff that makes people look at you funny.

Penny 12-10-2007 11:27 PM

I wear tech black. Because I'm proud to work in theatre, and because there are so many good memories attached to my black clothing. Like the little red stain from fake blood from my favorite show ever. <3

And I have a lot of sweaters. Because it's cold and wet here. I just found a hat that looks good on me. A sort of greek sailor/ newsboy dealio. Black of course, so I can wear it backstage. I wear it constantly.

Mostly. I wear things that I associate with happiness. Sometimes they match, sometimes they don't. ^^

Sadistix_Love 12-11-2007 12:18 AM

I don't have that many brand name clothes. I can wear anything practically as long as I look nice in it. I like to buy cheap stuff but brand names because I'm cheap like that man! xD

I would love to wear gothic lolita and all that but I can't addord it at all! They are all underground stuff because it's been imported from Japan. .-.
