Ever noticed how so many people THINK they are SO cool, because they THINK they are unique?

It's amazing how many people honestly think they are super unique when in fact almost everybody else in their area, dressed or acts the same way.

It's this Indie movement.

My style is Indie, my music taste is Indie, I may have a unique view on life, but it's pointless to try and act like you've really invented something...

Haha, I completely agree with you about the whole, "I say I'm different so therefore I really am!" trend. Don't know about the whole Indie thing (I'm really ... neutral, in that sense) but yeah.

I just feel like different...-ness is something inherent, not made. I look completely "normal" to be a 21-year-old female aside that I don't dye my hair and wear make-up, but guess what; when you actually have a conversation with me, you'll realize that I'm not like your average 21-year-old female. =D

yes, its societies pchological way of making everyone the same.

they tell you you are unique, as long as you do this and this and this.

all of society does this.

though, its not always a bad thing.

i think its perfectly ifne as long as people dont try the "Uniquer-than-thou" which is jsut hilarious XD

I don't think I've ever said 'I'm unique!' or even just different. xD It seems like having to say you're different or unique just sort of obliterates that point. Like, if you really were, wouldn't people notice that?

I think all of these 'unique' people running around are just irritating, honestly. They're my age ( seventeen ) and maybe it's just me being too picky, but I don't really enjoy having friends that are THAT disillusioned. D:

Mousey, you totally took the words out of my mouth! lol
I hate it when people try to make themselves different.
At school, there's a lot of scene kids that do things all different when in reality, it's all an act.

It's weird though, last year there was absolutely NO ONE that was like that, it was gangsters that were majority. Now, scene kids are the majority. o.O

::EDIT:: Omg, i noticed that all of the words that i boldfaced, made 'totally make no one.' o.O It sounded funnier in my head. =p

Meh, I do not think of myself as unique.. I do not even care.. i know I fit into some group.. I just do not do normal things, like go to the mall, hang out with people or listen to music... I dunno if that's the normal thing to do or what.. but yea.. uniquity is based on how you see it..

I dunno what you would classify me though as..

Yeah, haha. That's something I've noticed as well. :'D
Everyone is unique in that everyone has his or her own
style and personality. But everyone is similar to one
another as well. Kinda confusing. *-*

You're only unique if your hair resembles that of a possums. =D

But seriously, I am pretty sick of the whole "I'm non conformist, you probably don't appreciate my originality" thing going on. The first guy was pretty cool, but I then realized that there were thousands of others just like the first. Gee, how unique. Non-conformity is a vague concept, and can not be achieved by acting like so-and-so.

If only people would stop wasting their time trying to act up to become what's not the norm. Fer srsly, indie scene kids can GTFO.

The scene kids came to mind first after-all. >___<

I am unique... trust me... if you so much as MET me you would agree 100%
I may dress like some people. Act like some people... but I am still so much more different than you would ever imagine.

I am unique but not in a daggy way
or for the point of being unique or
different as everyone is desperately
trying to be. Everyone is different,
we have to be otherwise wouldn't things
be dull and boring?

I'm sorry to say, I don't know what Indie is!
But, Gush, if you're happy with the way you live your life, then good for you! That's really all that matters!
I live my life doing what I think is fun. When around people I don't know I'm very shy but once I get to know a person, LOOK OUT!
I think I'm like everyone! Special in one way or another and proud of it!

People think they do not conform because there are so little Emo/Indie kids around when infact Emo/indie is becoming slowly more and more mainstream.
Pretty soon, everyone will be emo/indie, and the "THUGS!!!!"/"GANKSTA!"/"PLAYA!!!!11"/"P.I.M.P.s" will be the new emos/indies.

It's funny how silly some people can be.

"I'm unique along with the other 5 million americans that dressed like this before me! Now I'm going to scratch my wrists and give myself nailstreaks and make people think I'm cutting myself when I'm too scared too :O"

I dunno if I am unique or not really. A lot of people say I am but then maybe I am just trying to be the odd ball. I know I dress like a lot of people but sometimes when people think they have me figured out I tell them something that totally doesn't fit with the rest of my personality. Like how I am a bright cheerful and sensible (normally) person but then I listen to Sum 41 and I also plot horrible things to get my supervisors in trouble. Or I come up with a totally scathing and sarcastic remark.

yeah it's pretty common around kids ages 13-16 or so..
I believe it's just a phase of finding your own.
When they get older, they don't even care if they're unique or not xP I sure as hell don't.

I've noticed that the people who SAY they're unique are the least unique people i know. If you're clothing and your announcements is all you've got to set yourself apart from people, there must not be much to you. There are certain aspects to my life that i'm different, and others that i'm exactly like everyone else. And it doesn't bother me in the slightest, because i just do/wear/say whatever i like. Some people got angry because i didn't have a cliche high school life (am in college now) because i was an athlete AND a nerd. Why? I absolutely LOVE sports, and i'm good at them, but i also love anime and video games.

I just wish people would stop saying, "I'm emo. I'm goth. I'm preppy. etc etc etc." People need to be people, and that's it. The way i dress, some days it's preppy, some days it's indie, some days it's punk...it just depend on what my mood is.

Uhg, people get on my nerves with their "uniquness." I see a lot of girls thinking they're being unigue by dying their hair about 6 different colors all at once (some guys too, actually). But that is just...sad when there are about 20 friggin people doingit at once.

I dunno, I try not to get into the whole fashion uniqueness thing. I wear mostly sweaters and black pants or bluejeans, I rarely do anything with my hair, I don't do makeup that often...I don't really do anything. I just dress how I want, act how I want, listen to the music I want....and if you don't like it you can go hock up a hairball and spazz out at somebody else because it jsut goes in one ear and right out the other on me.

I just don't get it... Why must people fight for their individuality? Being different is not the same as trying to be different. You shouldn't have to try and be something you may not be... Tis a crazy, upside-down world we live in...

Eh, I'm the coolest person in the world so...yeah. I don't bother with this trying-to-be-different crap. It's funny how nearly everyone in here complaining about people who try to be different finish their posts with how they're supposedly unique.

I see that a lot on sites like this and Myspace.
People are always saying that they're either the best or a piece of shit.

They think they're unique, yet they dress and look the same and follow the same trends as 29347203947230 other people.

They say that they came up with this word or that phrase when it's been used for years before they were even born.

Blah, blah, blah.

Sure, there are some who are unique, but everyone is a group at one point or another. We're all defined as individuals but we all conform to [something].

Everyone is only unique in the sense that nobody looks the same as each other anatomically and genetically. But clothing wise, hair style wise, etc.... we're no where close to unique.

Because anything that someone wears, someone else was worn or wears. Some just look better or worse with it on while others just kind of blend in, which sets the spectrum of who is unique and different etc...

I never try to be unique and stand out. I just do what I like, and whatever happens...well, it happens.

Right now, I look mostly like a normal...feminine boy or masculine girl, whatever the hell you wanna call me, it's hard to tell sometimes, with my most outstanding feature being my hair. Jet black, blonde, and medium-dark brown, layered cut, and...I've never seen anything else like it around here. But I've seen it somewhere else.

It's mostly when you get to talk to me that I end up being "different." I've had people tell me that I sound twice my age sometimes. I...don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing, to be honest...

I may need to have surgery on my hand, and if they can, I'm gonna request that they do it under local anesthetic so I can watch. I'm going into biomedical engineering, and I'm gonna want to know how hands work as well as I possibly can. I think that's pretty...different. XD;;

I think in a mix of several languages. The ones that I think in most frequently are English, Spanish, Japanese, and Italian. I'm not fluent in the last two yet, either.

I've never met anyone with all the same quirks as me. Yet I've met a buttload of people who look like me in some way or another. That's because, unless you go out in some kind of dangerously inconvenient outfit made of opaque plastic bubbles, chances are, there's gonna be someone out there who has the same fashion taste as you.

People really need to stop trying to be "unique." Being a lemming does not make you unique, it makes you a fool. If you just think, act, and dress like YOU want to, being unique should come naturally, unless you're just painfully boring.

I hate those people who say they're "non-conformist," then turn around and conform to show their non-conformity. Though they ARE fun to laugh at. XD

I would like to think I'm unique. but really I'm just myself, whether someone thinks I'm copying them or their style that's for them to decide, I just like being me, whatever that may be.

Lol, I saw the title and thought you were going to talk about something I hate.

I personally don't find myself unique, or many other people. In fact, due to the fact that I have to deal with myself, I'm pretty sure I'm boring.

I myself do have weird beliefs as well...but I don't really like sharing my opinion or my beliefs with others. I think it's a private matter that you yourself can only deal with.

I dress the way I want to, not based on some movement. Sure, I won't be a part of this decades well known stand out crowd, but maybe in some prior generation I would fit in..Or in some future one, who knows. I think people see something that they think is cool, then they want to do it.

For example...I think Ninja warriors is really cool. I have two favorites, Akiyama, Nagano, Takeda, and of course Yamada(mr. Ninja warrior himself ^^)...Though they are getting old and are going to have to stop after awhile...Poor Mr. Ninja warrior... I would love to try the show out, but I think I'm far too short to do anything on there like they do..plus I don't want big muscles... Maybe I could try out for the female version, but that's pretty hard too..

To describe myself simply...I'm just a girl...Who likes other girls.
