Oh crap, it's on fire!
So a couple days ago I set my toaster oven on fire. ;.;
Okay...it really wasn't that bad. I had cut a raisin bagel in half and was toasting it. While it was in the toaster, I had my back turned to wash a dish or two. I turned back to see that there was a fire inside of my toaster oven! o_o Oh, crap! So, even though it was a small fire, I freaked out and yelled to my mom 'It's on fire!' Apparantly, she didn't hear me. I ran over and opened the oven door and prepared to try and blow the fire out, all the while listening to my mom rant downstairs because she didn't hear me, and she made me bust out laughing. My mom is still rambling on about hearing aids or something when I try to blow on it a second time and, once again, burst out laughing. It was horrible. I couldn't even put the stupid fire out because she was making me laugh so hard. xD I can't even clearly remember what it was she said. Luckily, the fire went out on it's own. It turned out that a piece of a raisin had fallen and set itself on fire. It was a pretty big flame, just to be a little raisin, but nothing seriously threatening. So I thought I'd ask, have you ever accidentally lit anything on fire? It doesn't have to be something kitchen-wise, pretty much anything that you didn't mean to happen. Did you panic? Find help? Put it out yourself? Or were you, like me, to busy laughing like and idiot to do anything helpful? |
My sister came back at 11pm once and started making a burger... she set the grill on fire. :lol:
We popped it on top of cooker, watching the flames dance merrily, whilst we pranced around it panicking. xD The flames died out... but the smoke alarm didn't even wake our siblings. o.O |
Whoa, they didn't hear the smoke alarm? That's not good. xD Time to get a louder one.
|
Well, it was pretty loud. o.O
|
Wow, that's pretty bad. Really deep sleepers?

We have a type of stake here in Puerto Rico (Biftec Encebollado) its sort of a stake and you make it by friying if with Vinegar and Olive Oil and tasty onions (Yum yum its making me hungry o.O) well I tried to do it when I was like 12 but I forgot that I was supossed to mix the vinegar with the oil in the pan and put the stake in with the onion and then turn on the stove. Well I forgot the order, you know that saying that Oil and Vinegar dont mix well, well I found out the hard way why? I put the oil in the stove with the stake, turned on the stove and then put in the vinegar (big no no) the pan went up in flames. LOL I was freaked out and my mother was almost sitting on the floor laughing >.> not funny when your a kid.
Another time I was drying a pair of panties (clean panties) in the microwave I put them on for too much time and they caught fire o.O (the elastic caught fire) it was embarrasing x.x |
lol That's not good! haha. We keep out peanut butter in the fridge, and there was one time I wanted to spread it on crackers but it was SO cold and hard. I thought hey, I'll just put it in the mocrowave for a little bit like...15-20 seconds just to soften it up...
That was a BAD idea! D: I didn't know, but I guess there was still some of that foilish lid that you have to take off, on the jar, and it started to spark and caught on fire in two different places...Our microwave has scoarch marks on it lol. |
I've had loads of accidents with fire, mostly at school with Bunsen burners in science.
One memorable time I dropped at lit splint and my sock caught fire. My friend sort of kicked my ankle to try and put it out (which wasn't successful) and then a guy just got some water and threw on my leg. I got a surprisingly small burn but a lot of bruises for where my friend had kicked my leg XP I've set a library book on fire before. I was lighting my oil burner and I dropped the match on the book. I was dancing around the room trying to put it out and my brother was just laughing. He teased me about book burning for weeks. And I had to pay a fine from the library for ruining the book :( |

Has anyone tried to re-heat a burger with the foil-paper on? I did O.o My mom brought me a burger from Wendys but it was a little cold, so I poped it in the microwave. The burger caught fire because of the foil. lol At first I was "Hey where are those sparks coming from?" then "OMG! Its the microwave" then "Ahhhh its burning" then "Dont call me stupid it could happen to anyone!" yeah it was stupid O.o
I have burned many things in my life x.x I guess I like fire? IDK. There was this time (sooo embarasing) I invited a couple of friends over for pizza and movies. We were having a nice time but getting hungry. We bought one of those frozen pizzas that you heat in the oven from Sams. I voluntiered to heat it up (trying to show off my oven-abilities) lol everything was fine, execpt that I forgot to take it out of the box! It caught fire and my friends were laughing their asses off they wouldnt let me live with it for over a month. |
My brother had the toaster oven catch on fire one time - he was re-heating some pizza and cheese dripped down onto one of the elements.
He picked up the flaming toaster and threw it out the back door onto the lawn and left it there until it went out. Later that day my Dad came home and found the toaster oven out on the lawn - took it back inside, cleaned it and plugged it back in. |
I have never set anything on fire but my grandmother did once, it was while I was living with them.
My grandfather had just come home from the eye doctor, he had an eye infection so they went to have it checked out. The doctor said that every 2 hours he should put a warm damp cloth over his eye for 10-15 min. So my grandmother, instead of just using hot/warm water decides to warm the cloth in the microwave... um yeah it cought on fire and she yelled at the microwave and still to this day dose not trust it. She's not that old either... she's going to be 75 in Febuary... and this was about 5 years ago so *shrugs* |
When I was heating up a pan to reheat leftover fired rice, I let it het up way too long and it got so hot that it burned. I was dumb and pt my face close to the heat/flames that I could have burned my face off. Also, we had a fire on our stove (from what, I have no idea) and I was afraid to put it out. Though we threw paper towels on it and all was good.

Hahaha, it's funny but also scary when things become ignited in the microwave. One time my mom put something in the microwave and apparently, it was flammable. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it spark and then a small flame. I was like, "Mom, omg fire!!11" and then I couldn't stop laughing while she took it out and threw it into the sink. There was a big trail of ashes from the microwave to the sink. xD |
Before I understood microwaves and conductivity, I tried heating something that was wrapped in tin foil...
I wanna do it again! Maybe with a microwave we're about to throw out anyways. Make fireworks and such. Fun times ^^ |
All I really know is to never try to melt a Crunch bar in the microwave. It didn't catch on fire {luckily}, but it did smell really bad, and was incredibly burnt. Also, we have this little saucer type plate, that is rimmed in gold, but I didn't think anything about it before putting it in the microwave.Next thing I know the edges of it are giving off little sparks of electricity.

In the microwave, I've accidentally set forks on fire, and foil sandwich wrappers, and I also blew up some chicken nuggets once. u.u;
|
Hmm I saw at a local turkish restaurant that they did
meat with foil (or silver paper, I hope people understand what I mean ._.) around it in an oven, so I thought, me too me too!!!11one I tried it too, but in a microwave. The Waves in the Micro don't go together with foil, so I saw these small electric sparks coming off!! ._o;;;; :'D So I won't do that again, I promise. Yuck, the smell XD My mom though, she was paniced once. She was talking to me while she was busy with baking some meat. I was sitting in the kitchen at the kitchen table. Suddenly the meat caught fire and instead of trying to take care of it, she grabbed the frying-pan and ran towards me screaming 'help-help' and with a 'do-something,quick!11111eleven' face, and then she ran towards the sink >_> .___. Forgive me for my bad English... |
Lol, i've almost caught something on fire before. xD
One time I put popcorn in the microwave and well...I didn't do the time right, I think I clicked on popcorn and the time was to long, so It burnt the popcorn and smoke was coming out of it and it smelled REALLY bad, so we had to open the windows and leave for about and hour for it to calm down. xD |
Fire and I have an interesting relationship. I like it and play with it a lot, and it tolerates me, and never really gets me in TOO much trouble...
One time, I was at my friend's house, and her microwave wasn't working, so we decided to warm up some left-overs from the night before in the oven. Unfortunately, her mom hadn't yet cleaned out said oven from her party the night before, and so... we looked at it and there was a big-ass fire in the bottom of the oven. xDD So we turned the oven off... it went out... the smoke alarms went off. She ran and got the one in the living room and I bolted down to the basement and turned that one off. It quickly started up again, though, so I put it in the fridge. Then, after we cleaned out the oven, we turned it on again, and uh... another fire started. xD; We burned the pan SO badly and our food tasted a bit of smoke, but... it could have been worse... at least the whole stove didn't go up in flames. xP Oh, another time, I was playing with a travel candle, and I had the... guts of a beanie baby thing. So I put them in (DISCLAIMER: I swear I'm a smart person, I just do VERY STUPID things when I'm bored.) and sort of poked it around. Anyway, the fire was getting too big for my liking, so, not paying attention, I put some water on the candle. >>;; The flame flared up about two feet high xDD Nearly set one of the posters on my wall on fire. I screamed and put a bowl over it, so it smothered. I was shaking and laughing SO hard, collapsing all over my room... it was traumatic and hilarious. OH, another time playing with a candle! I was putting tape in it to see how it would burn (see disclaimer), and it lit on fire... and flipped up and got stuck to my finger, still burning. xDD I have a nice little scar from that incident... it's faded over the years, but it still looks a little warped. |
I can't remember how old I was, but I know one time I set the stove on fire, just a little one. xD
Some crumbs from the food fell into the burner. (It was our old stove that had the black swirly burners, now we have the flat stove top.) And it caught flame, it was pretty scary but I laughed about it later. Now this one time, I felt incredibly ultra retarded... It was very late at night, might've been 2 in the morning and I had the munchies. Normally I pop some popcorn in the microwave when I want a snack but that night I wanted something sweet. Well naturally I like cookies, and I like to heat them up so they'll be warm...... Well... Stupid me didn't realize that instead of putting the cookies on for like 10 seconds, I accedintally hit the popcorn button that is set to a minute and 45 seconds... I ran off after I pushed the button and I came back to get the cookies when I realized there was smoke bellowing out of the microwave. I was like "HOLY SHIT!!!" And then I stopped the microwave and seen what damage was done. The cookies were black and soooo stinky! The smoke was everywhere and I was openin' windows and doors while trying to be quiet about it and hope and pray that the fire alarm doesn't go off and wake everyone in the house... Keep in mind this was 2 something in the morning. xD Luckily for me the alarm didn't go off and no one woke up. Although the house stunk sooo bad for 2 days and my mom was kinda mad. I felt so dumb. |
Majhra -
You were drying your panties in the microwave? xD Never heard of that one before. As for the burger thing, you aren't alone. I almost did that, but luckily caught myself before I actually turned the microwave on. Majinkoz - I've always wanted to put something like that in the microwave just to see the pretty sparks, but I'm afraid I'd kill my microwave. I learned not to put peanut butter in the microwave though. It smells really, really bad when burnt. sugarkane - Well, at least your friend was trying to help. xD It kinda reminds me of the time my cousin caught his foot on fire. He decided it would be fun to pour gasoline on a camp fire and didn't realize some had dripped onto his foot. He was drunk at the time, and didn't realize when it started burning. There wasn't any water around so his girlfriend and my mom started chucking dirt at his foot and he was yelling at them because they were throwing stuff at him. xD It was horrible. siaasgn - He threw it outside? xD I just imagined that and it looked really funny. Did the toaster oven actually work right after all that? Captin Morgan - Lots of stories about cloth catching fire in the microwave. o_o I'm gonna have to take a mental note to remember not to try this. mewmew07 - Paper towels put it out? o.O I thought they'd add to the fire or something. 'clockwork - Yeah, when you first realize 'Omg, fire!' it's pretty shocking. Then after you've got it out, it's really funny, especially when you look back on your reaction to it. Kaerou - You've got to be really careful when melting chocolate. I agree though, that smell is really bad and hard to get out. V!rtual Insanity - You blew up your chicken nuggets? o_o How'd you manage that? Elwing - xD I bet that was pretty funny to watch. Panicking is never a good thing to do about fires though. Aurora - I hate it when things get smoky, then you have to open all the windows and stuff, especially if it's in the middle of winter. TheSatah - That sounds like a dangerous stove. Ouch about the tape thing. That would really suck. xD I could see myself running around yelling 'Getitoffgetitoff!' Queen Nehalania - Wow, that would've been hard to explain if the alarm did go off at 2 in the morning because of cookies. xD |
Thunder ~ Lol, yea. xD I don't mind smoke from camp fires and stuff like that, but burnt popcorn smells really bad...o_e...
