Love and Marriage
So, in the past year it seems like the majority of the people I know have marriage on the brain. Whether they're getting married, getting engaged or just flirting with the idea, the topic has come up more times than I can count.
So now I'm going to inflict the topic on you guys. What do you think of marriage? Are you the marrying type? What advice would you give to someone considering marriage? (Regarding the latter question, my advice usually takes the form of this Friedrich Nietzsche quote: "When entering into a marriage one ought to ask oneself: do you believe you are going to enjoy talking with this woman up into your old age? Everything else in marriage is transitory, but most of the time you are together will be devoted to conversation.") |
Lacy is Scared to Ever get married. =/;
Staying together with Some one for a very long time just scares Lacy. Thinking about Kids, what people might say, do you have enough money to support your new life.. X.x; Its a pretty big jump. and if you were to have a kid(s) and they were to break up whats the kid(s) ganna think about it? id say if anyone was about to get married, make sure they have a good relship with another have enough money good paying job, dont ever do something your not ready for or cant support. |
I actually just got engaged last week to my boyfriend of 6 years so that answers the first part ^^;
Advice would definitely be along the lines of that quote. You should be able to talk freely with your significant other and remember that those little things he/she does that urk you now will be with you forever. You want to also make sure you talk about things like kids, religion, civil/church ceremony, etc sometime before the engagement or else you could say yes and find out that you just agreed or proposed to someone who doesn't want any of the things you want. |
I know what you mean about everyone talking about getting married. as it turns out I just got engaged about two months ago and soon after my best friend got engaged to my older brother ( not really my brother but close enough ) and it seems like all my other friends who are in long time relationships are ether engaged or talking about it. I think it has a lot to do with age, its just getting to be the time in everyones life were getting married is somewhat expected on some level. *shrug* then I think it has something to do with the fact that when one couple gets engaged everyone starts to think about it a little bit more then they did before. as for the question oh what kind of advice I would give? I think I would have to say, Live with each other for at least a year before making that jump to engagement, you learn a lot about someone when you live with them and if your going to spend the rest of your life with them be sure you can deal with them taking a half an hour in the bathroom every morning~.^ P.S. congratulations nike! |
I'm the marrying type. I'm just 15, but I know I'd want to get married someday.
I guess it's every woman's dream to get married. I know a lot of people get married and end up divorcing each other. I'm gonna try my best in finding the right partner so I'll never gonna end up like that. In marriage, you make vows. "For better or for worse. Till death do us part". People shouldn't just file for divorces. Marriage is a big decision. Once it's done, you should not let go of your partner. Until death parts you. So, yeah, I'm so the marrying type. |
I just LOVE the idea of LOVE!! I heard you talking about LOVE and marriage and I just HAD to tell you!! LOVE is an amazing thing, don't you think??
|
oohh I would NEVER marry....anyone else but my fiance :3
He's the only one I have been able to stand more than 2 months xD I never feel fed up with him, I just want to be with him, always. I want to give myself to him completely. So yes, I will marry him some day. it will be a small wedding though, but still :3 I'm going to be his wife. That's a scary thought. But still. |
Oh no, being someone's wife isn't a scary thought!! It's just that so much LOVE has built up that you don't realize that it's still wonderful, glorious LOVE!!!
Isn't that right?? |

@ Topic: The idea of commitment scares me. To be honest, I'd probably end up marrying someone just so I don't end up dying alone. |
VICKY!!
STOP RIGHT THERE MISSY!! |
*blinks* I could swear I just heard someone say my name...
*turns around* Seito, Alexandrus!!! HELLO!! Were you also enticed by the thought of LOVE and marriage?? |
Excellent! Alexandrus was right! Thanks so much for helping us find Vicktoria. :D
Cessy - look who we found! :) |
*twitch*
*throws pillow at Vicky* baka baka! You! Disappearing like that! You're suppose to keep an eye on Ce-chan!! Oh right.. on the topic of love. Seito hasn't had a crush before. Isn't currently seeking a boyfriend, plans to get married by the age of 30. >> (one of these sound impossible... :/ ) |

I just came here to find you and to say that I'm scared of commitment. |
lol Miss Valentine, I really think you should just stop in one area. It'll be easier to find you and for Cessy to find you that way. XD;
Talking about love and marriage. I myself am honestly afraid of marriage. I've seen successful ones, but I've also seen my equal share of failed ones. At the moment, I am not ready for the idea of marriage yet. However, I am also worried that I would be living the rest of my life alone. My mindset might change in the future (and I really do hope so). Marriage in general though, is something I really like to observe. I believe it is one of a person's best moments in life and something to cherish. It's nice to see a couple in love and committing their love to one another. My cousin recently married and I am overjoyed for him and his marriage. Because of that, I know that I DO look forward to marriage but am just really afraid of it right now. XD |
Oof!! *is hit by a pillow* Hey!!
*rolls up a snowball and throws it in retaliation* I'm sorry!! I was having so much fun, that the next thing I knew I wasn't anywhere I knew anymore! Is darling Cessy okay?? |
*pummels Vicky with another pillow*
I haven't found Cessy yet! This is why you're suppose to keep an eye on her! |
We were wondering where you had gone off to! Cessy, look, we found Aunty Vicky! And a lot of people helped out too, thank you all!
On love and marriage, I sometimes fiddle around with the thought of marriage with my boyfriend (of two years), but even if we get married... it won't be for a long time. XD Money first! Marriage is an expensive thing in itself! I look at wedding dresses and stuff sometimes because they're very pretty, but sometimes I start to fantasize about what a wedding would look like, haha. ._. I think it's important for both parties to love one another before considering marriage. Lifelong devotion isn't simply something to sneeze at. <3 |
Aunty Vicky! There you are!
Aunty Seito! You're alright! *runs in with Aunty Riva* |
Ce-chan!!
*throws one more pillow at Vicky* *glomps Ce-chan in a big hug* Oooo there you are, you silly girl. Running off like that! |
*is glomped by Aunty Seito*
Aunty Seito not hurt anymore? |
*sheepishly* Sorry, Riva... >_> I forgot that you had to walk more slowly with Cessy. ^^;
On topic: As much as I joke about having a "husband" and "wife" (my two best friends, male and female), I have no current plans to get married. Love to! But I'm not even dating someone at the moment. XD; I'm a marrying type of person, definitely. But I'm not in any rush to be married. :x And if I never get into a relationship where it heads in that direction, I'm fine with that. XD My advice to those considering marriage would be to talk about those huge life decisions before you get married to make sure you're both on the same page. If one person wants children and the other doesn't - and there is no compromise ("in five years, we'll have one child") acceptable to both parties, then it's best not to make the trip up the aisle if it'll be what tears you apart in the future. ^^; |
*waves hand*
it takes a lot more then a bar of soap and a snowball to kill little old me. <3 |
CESSY!!! *runs over to Cessy, but ends up getting hit by a pillow instead* OOF!!
Hello, sweetie, how are you?? I was SO WORRIED about you!!! I'm so HAPPY to see that you're safe!! I absolutely LOVE everyone for taking care of you while I tried to find you!! |
Hehe, CK, no worries! ^^ Ceci surprises me with how fast her little legs can go sometimes. :shock:
