Since I have no clue if this has already done, let alone where this actually goes, here we go, however not only would I like some help getting a few possible answers, share a few of your own odd occurrences, I am coming from a paranormal direction for this topic.

Alright some starting facts to my case of this:
-My house was built in the 70s
-I live with my mom and step-dad(passed away about a year ago)
-My step-dad actually passed away downstairs in the house in his office, the death was sudden.
-We have been living our house for about six or seven years now

Before my step-dad passed away:
-I have seen a white figure pass by my door
-I do not like going downstairs by myself, even when I know there are other people in the house, there is a feeling that just has me just want to rush out of there as soon as I go down.

After my step-dad passed away:
-I still have the feeling when I go down, but it seems to flux between a slightly comforting to just downright scary.
-I now feel like some sort of presence where my step-dad passed away, sometimes I don't have it effect me other times I just don't feel right to be in the office.
-I've had a doll fly off my dresser upstairs in my room and actually see it launch off and hit the floor going about half a foot from where it was leaning solidly on the wall with her waist bent to sit.
-I've experience the 100% sensation of being aware of someone's presence being in my door way, yet my door was not open. (this still freaks the living daylights just thinking about that night and I was fully awake when it happend)

Whoa. I've always been one to believe, since I... "visited" the house from the novel "In Cold Blood".

But this is kinda different, huh?

I can't really offer any advice on the unnatural.

Maybe you should buy a squijee (SP MAJOR) board and check for sure. I wouldn't do it alone, maybe your best buddy.

Well.. if you feel thretend or in danger ever in that house then this is a bad spirit.
What you should do, is when your in your rom, surround yourself with a white light that protects you from all evil or wronge doings.
The fill the rest of the house and around the house with the white light.
(so just imagen yourself in a white room)
Also, if this does not work start demanding space from this spirit. Own your area. Tell them this is your house and that he/she is not welcomed! (either in your mind or outloud. really mean it when u say it too!)

Theres more you can do, but this is the basics of getting rid of unwanted spirits.

Those boards opens a portal within your house that allows anything to come in. And the only way to close it is to have a precher come from the vatican (sombody whos does those types of things alot)
to come down and block your house.. and even that they would need solid proff.. whict is months and months of unwanted huntings and wores things then just a doll falling..

And dont worry if your step-dad still within the house the white light wont hurt him., Infact your setp dad may be trying to help you by fighting off the evil one

Well both of my grandmothers were into the occult and spiritual stuff. So I very much believe in it.
One of them was a Celtic "water witch" she used to help find where the under ground wells were in rural areas just outside the city.
The other one was a French Mystic and very good with Tarot cards, she helped the police on a few occasions. When I was little I asked her if I would have a boy or a girl and how many of each. She told me I would have a daughter and that I would have her at a young age. (It came true I had my daughter at 17)

I remember her cleansing our house before we moved into it as a precaution.
errm anyway what kinda of advice were you looking for about it? If things get bad I m sure there are people in the area that can help. Although it might be hard if your mom doesn't believe in that sort of thing.

Wow that is a lot of scary. Have you talked to any special umm.. what is it called. Man I can't think of it something about uh.. those ghost people experts I forget .

Wow...that's pretty impressive. o_o If it wouldn't sound so creepy coming from a random internet person, I'd ask you where you lived so I could do a full-on paranormal investigation (like what they do on Ghost Hunters...have you ever watched that show? Amazing, really).

I'm going to advise you to stay the hell away from Ouija boards. They don't ACTUALLY open any kind of portal to let demons attack or anything, but they CAN mess with your mind, even to the point where you could end up seriously hurting yourself either out of fear or because you feel you're being controlled. On top of which, they are shown to be flawed in how they work.

The store where I work is haunted. I have a bit of experience with the paranormal. Twice while I was there, I've had bottles or cans spontaneously burst on me, and once...I watched a loaf of bread get spontaneously ejected from the shelf. It did not fall off, it was THROWN off. When I went to pick it up, it suddenly got so cold in just that ONE SPOT that I could see my own breath. It was amazing.

I've determined that this is not a BAD spirit, just a bit of a prankster. No one ever claims to feel uncomfortable because of it or anything.

Unfortunately, I'm not really an expert on getting rid of unwelcome spirits, so..I can't really help you there. I'm just one of the people who finds them. ^^;

I believe in this stuff. I've had similar experiences and it can be very uncomfortable and scary.

If you feel uncomfortable and threatened try telling the spirit that it's not welcome. This is your home and you want it to leave. This usually works.

If you feel comfortable enough and are brave enough you could try talking to the spirit by using a digital voice recorder. Or even if you don't want to talk to it you could set out a recorder and just record you never know you still might catch something. I'll warn you that doing this kinda thing can freak you out and scare you when you play back the recordings and there is other voices there, but this is something that can also be helpful. It can help you determine if the spirit is good or bad and whether or if the "haunting" is residual or intelligent. I'm starting to get technical, sorry.

First and foremost, never use a Bought Ouija board. There are ways to make your own that tend to work much better. I've been a professional psychic since the age of 15, I am known as Lady Salem, and understand several things about presences in houses.

First, it has to have been INVITED, or have attached itself to someone living in the house presently. This can happen in various ways. Funerals, hospitals, and care homes are the primary places they come from. (There ARE houses that have spirits, , but you have to determine if what you are seeing is the spirit of a person, or the spirit of the house itself.) If you have things like heirloom jewelry that didn't come down through your family, but was bought from a dealer in such things, there can be a spirit attached to these items.

The simplest way I know to rid yourself of these spirits is to either wash the item in water with sea salt in it(if it's jewelry or whatever), or, make a solution of water and sea salt, and, according to your belief system, use the solution on your fingertip to draw the symbol held by your system as sacred on the floor, both sides and top of your door. Or you can draw a straight line...doesn't matter. Then explain that this is YOUR Space, as is the entire house, and it is not welcome therein. Tell it to leave in peace. Then put your hands together in front of you, palms out, and gently push them away from your body. All done.

CALL THE POPE AND ARANGE FOR AN EXORCISM! But that could go either of two ways it could solve the problem or it could make it worse and it could take up to or over two years.


Don't use a ouija bored they are dangerous.

Also it's not adviable to yell I mock thy spirits.

You can do spimle clensing(sp?) all by yourself. You might want to look up ways of doing that on the interwebs. If that doesn't work you might want to get your house blessed by a proffesinal(sp?).


Also if you have picked up anything small like a moldy old coin or trinkit that was just lying on the ground then the spirit could be attacted to that. I say this because I once read about someone who picked up a coin out of a river where there had been an accident which killed the person involved, cut a long story short, lots of activity and they put the coin back in the river because the person who died needed it to pay for the ferry across the river.

The comfortable feeling seems like it could be step-father still around and looking out for you. And the other could be someone who was attactched to the house and has come home in spirit to find someone else living there.

Yikes, that's some pretty freaky stuff. Unfortunatly, I don't have any good advice. Have you tried a seance?

I remember the day my friend died in a car accident, a journal entry appeared on his livejournal an hour after his death. It was all in lowercase letters and said something like "i am fine dont worry." I don't remember it exactly (though it was only like 2 sentences), but it was caught by another friend of his and when she refreshed the page, it was gone. Fortunately, she printed it. It was chilling though.

Similar experience in my place.

My new home is not old, but the house that stood on the property previous, after doing some homework was destroyed in a fire. It was used at nights by some teenagers for rituals (hence why I hate a lot of the younger poseurs when it comes to that sort of thing) during the solstice.

It used to be a manor, I now own part of its property.

This place gives me the chills at night. Despite the fact that the house is well insulted, the basement has the master heating unit, and it's supposed to be warm, it's cold enough to see one's breath on all but the hottest days of the summer.

The basement is left dehumidified, and we had new pipes put in. They're already rusted.

Things go missing from my room and end up in the attic at the time that me or my fiancée are out at work or school respectively. Not often, but enough to creep me out, usually stuff that most people don't use. I lose stuff such as boxes of papers (like the things you get at Staples), pencils, I ended up finding my fountain pen in there (I owned it for the sake of it looking cool on my desk)

Even more disturbingly, I've put my camera in the basement on a full charge. I was recording things overnight so I can watch to see if maybe I was going crazy. Halfway through the recording, the screen goes a dark red and gets staticked beyond viewing.

One of my friends who had a prosthesis put it on the drawer in my room and slept in my bed. His prosthesis was found in the kitchen with a pen.

Clementine was with me the entire night downstairs while we were prepping for Christmas dinner.

It freaks the hell out of me. Clemmy, however, refuses to leave since we got such a sweet deal on it, I don't want to live here anymore.

Not sure if you were really looking for advice, but everyone else is trying to help so I thought I would too. xD Feeling a presence where your stepdad passed away seems totally normal to me. When you see someone in a certain place for so long, it sticks with you. It's just natural that it's still sticking with you now, even though he has been gone for a year.

Now, as for the bad feeling downstairs, it might keep coming back because you expect it to come back. In just the same way that you got into the habit of seeing your stepdad there, you've gotten into the habit of feeling that creepy sensation downstairs. In any case, if you really believe that something is there, and it's making you uncomfortable, have you simply tried telling it to leave? You don't have to yell and shout or anything, but firmly say, "You do not live here. You should not be here. Leave." or something along those lines could help, but only if you believe in the words.

Another thing that might help is sea salt, like a person above me has said. It's good for cleansing and can also ward away negativity, once again, if you have confidence that it will. I sprinkle some at each doorway in my house every once in a while. If you're religious, maybe a prayer from your religion would help you out as well. Give you confidence and all that.

I also have to say don't use a Ouija board, but not for the reasons above. I don't believe it opens any portals. I don't believe it's evil. It's very rare to ever get a spirit anyway, and most out there that would take the time to actually communicate through the board are just mischievous. They will try to scare you, so if the board spells out that it is a demon or something, chances are it's just a regular spirit messing with you or your friend moving the pointer just to see you freak. Would a big, bad powerful demon really need a board to hurt you? No way. The reason I say not to use one is because, if you're already scared, they will mess with your mind. If you go into it scared, when something does happen on the board, it will most likely terrify you. Or you may even imagine things happening that really aren't.

I've had some strange things happen in various houses. In our old house, when I was a small child, my mom had a gate up at the top of the stairs so I wouldn't fall down them. Something would lift the latch and throw open the gate. This once happened while my dad was standing, looking directly at it, right after telling my mom she was full of crap. xD There was also a very creepy closet there and a spirit that really liked my brother's water bed. o.O In the house I'm in now, we've had things fly out of the bottom of a tall trashcan that had the bag just replaced. We've had a glass ashtray with no ashes in it burst into flames. (That scared the living crap out of everyone in the house. I think everything was soaked with holy water after that, thanks to my mom. xD ) A movie got thrown at my friend once. Then, of course, there's the typical thing where you put something down in once place, come back ten minutes later and it's somehow on the other side of the house. I used to hear people walking on the plastic mat near the back door when I'm the only one in the house. Most of the activity has stopped since we started salting, but every once in a while, something unexpected happens.

The only house that can really scare me though is my cousin's. She's got some crazy stuff going on up there, though I don't necessarily believe it's anything with ill intentions. I would elaborate, but this post ended up way longer than I wanted it to anyway, so maybe I'll add some more experiences and more details to things I've already mentioned later. ._.;

I am thankful that I am well aware of not using a board. Also I might have skipped bits as I was reading, I just now got on to my thread and I have to clean up to make dinner soon.

Also my family is Christian yet I do see myself as a Christian so I am not sure what all I have at my disposal if me just saying 'leave'(as in along the lines of leave) doesn't work. Also thank you for giving me a few things that I can do, especially for downstairs.

Yeah I've seen Ghost Hunters, I live Lincoln, NE. My situation as of yet is just being creeped out, however I do not feel I'm in impending danger.

I've had simliar experiences but they weren't bad ones just DO NOT use a ouija! Any spirits, including bad, can get in. You can take pictures too. They will come up as white orbs of light. I have two pictures of spirits from dogs on my camera. I wish I could show you but they don't come up well on the computer. They are almost prefect spheres of white light. It's pretty amazing.

Woah, you're step-father passed away? That's pretty sad *unless he was a douchebag like mine* and sorry to hear about that...but if you guys are a Christian family I can only hope your step-father wouldn't be dwelling in the afterlife because...well that's pretty odd. I used to not believe in ghosts or spirits and felt confident that everything had a reasonable explanation for happening. But after having experienced paranormal events myself I became more aware that maybe there is something between the living and the supernatural. I won't say what happened since I'd like to keep it private but I will say it was enough to make me think twice, I'm currently having another event going on in the duplex we live in.
For your situation, like a lot of others have suggested, if you get fed up with the feelings then take back your home. Either say a prayer asking for whatever to leave you alone or confront what may be there and tell it to leave your home. You could even ask your mom to pray with you so you felt more reassured when doing this. If you want to use an EMF *Electromagnetic Field Recorder* to reinforce your experiences I think an MP3 player would work since recorders are sensitive enough but a regular one may be best. EVPs *Electronic Voice Phenomena* can be scary sometimes but they can also help with what you might be dealing with and how to get rid of it if you feel inclined to do so. I doubt this spirit wants to harm you.

I mean the former inhabitants and it's history. Was it built over something? It could bring to light some more into the situation.

For one like everybody else is suggesting, there is a negative presence in your house.

It could be quite possibly a 'spirit' or just left over ki/energy. We can't really tell for sure.

It's very coincidental that it's activity seemed to have increased soon after your step dad has left though. I can't help but wonder if your step dad had any involvement in it or experience with them.

There are instances where humans have this strange connection with those sorts of things, with or without them knowing and once they're gone, the valve of the malicious is gone and they run amok. Just a theory/thought... But I don't know your step dad well enough. o3o;

Or perhaps there was some part of your house that had been disturbed which is causing this whole matter? Since you did note that prior and post his death, strange things had already been happening.

Some people are suggesting that these malicious things be extracted from your house so you can keep it and stay there. Unfortunately that's not possible in all cases, some end up just having to get into a truce with the creatures or leave.

Ignoring won't work for this problem. Dealing would but I suggest that you have someone close to you who isn't close minded and supportive, someone who actually knows what they're doing about the problem. It wouldn't do you good to DIY and end up mucking up or entering into a whole new situation that you're not familiar with. It's not enough that you get advice and enact what people are commonly telling you. What if something happens beyond what we're saying and you are not within immediate reach? :S

Calling an expert will help though. Make sure you're not alone when you do these sorts of things. You don't exactly know what you're dealing with so please be careful. Try to know who or what it is first... Then let's make a battle plan.

I stupidly once braved into such a situation and got into trouble.

Things like that happened to me a few times. I’ve used a psychic circle to contact the dead, which is a bad idea unless you know what you’re doing. I have a spirit that hangs around at my house. Her name is Angel and I think she was murdered, but she likes to pull pranks and even pokes at my sister and I, which freaks my sister out majorly because she used to not believe in spirits being around.

She’s also made things fall off the counter and moved things and stuff like that, it’s not just them simply falling off either. It’s really odd, but I think it’s cool at the same time. I’ve also seen her several times going across our front deck and in our living room. She scared me once when she first appeared here because I was sleeping in my room and some scraping noise woke me up and when I opened my eyes there was a figure dressed in all white with long blonde hair standing behind my door. I had my door closed at the time. When I looked at her she disappeared. It was really odd and scared me quite a bit because I thought she was an actual person standing there at first. My sister described a similar figure to me the next day and that was before I told her what I saw.

I have a few other stories, but don’t want to make my post any longer than it has to be. Most of the time spirits won’t hurt you so I wouldn’t worry about it. They’re just like normal people. Normally I just treat them as so and there’s no problem. You have to set boundaries though and tell them when you don’t want them around otherwise they stalk you and it’s annoying to say the least.

Man, this sort of stuff freaks me out.

I know someone who lived with a ghost for pretty much all their childhood, and she's not crazy, an idiot, or a liar, so I know it's true. Plus, she has a picture and very specific stories.

Anyway, does your mom know? If not, I'd talk to her about it and see if she's noticed anything.

Since I believe I have the possibility of a good spirit in my house I do have some comfort, yet the negative part is not to the point that I feel it is more dominant to me, just annoying that it creeps me out. However with my mom, she doesn't think it's true however I asked her if she's felt something be with her when she was alone. she said yes, she thinks it's my step-dad since she also gets dreams of him time to time.

Wait. There's a belief that before a soul departs into the next life, they linger a little and then move on.

But tell me, this presence that has now made itself more apparent, is it different or familiar to you?

L, if you see kids... I see creatures that aren't even human to begin with. ><;; They taunt me with how they look by first appearing in the most beautiful form they could muster and peeling it off - literally or metaphorically - to freak me out.

And yes, they CAN hurt you.

Maybe not physically -unless they're just THAT powerful- but mostly your psyche and mental mindset will be the ones to be hit first.

Remember:

Courage - is when even if you're afraid you do something about it.

Stupidity - when you don't know what you're doing and ought to do but do it anyway.

It's alright to be afraid. But don't allow yourself to fall victim to it.

Regardless of what it is, those things take pride in making humans exude fear... It's a very potent energy source since the emotions that give off the most effort are those that are felt with much passion like fear and anger. Hence those two emotions are usually that attract their sorts or are usually left behind in places as 'residue background energy.'

I've previously lived in a 'haunted' house. My family and I saw a man on the stairs, heard the house seem to 'buzz,' saw a woman in a wedding dresses and had angry faces lunge towards us.
Upon looking at the houses history, we found that it had previously been a brothel in the late 1800's. Also, a man had hung himself on the stairs. I think there was also a murder there at some stage D:
Honestly, it doesn't matter if your house was built in the 70's. If there were spirits there before the house was built, they may still linger there. They don't seem to want you there, and they're drawing bad energy to you and your family. Bad energy draws more bad energy. The reason it's so bad is because the person/people who are haunting it did not do what they needed to do whilst they were alive, or their passing was to them unrealised. (Sudden; not expected.)
As previously mentioned, one of the best things to do is to surround yourself with white light. You need to try to improve the optimism of the house. I know that my Mum got a priest into our house, and also got ghostbusters (yes they exist 8D) to analyse and try to help the house.
We ended up having to move because the spirits were making us all feel very unsafe. But if moving isn't an option for you, the best thing is definitely to surround yourself with positive energy. As previously mentioned also, DO NOT participate in any oujia boards.
If you do want to communicate, I've found that writing the spirit a letter can help them pass on. Tell them you know they're there, and that there's somewhere better they can go to.
It's all a little scary, but you just need to make sure it doesn't get to you; that's what they want.

...I have had experience with deceptive creatures. They show you a good face then later on divulge their real intentions soon enough.

Still be wary.

They're not of our realm.

As much as possible just try to ignore and not pay them heed anymore. The more attention you give them, the higher the power you give them over you.
