Quick Fixes to Dismal Days
Today was rather ugly for me. I was sick. I mean really sick. My tongue and everything else in my body (Well it feels like it anyways; Its really more like my glands) is swollen up. And of course all the muscles in my back hurt like no one's business, one top of my sore throat and an ear ache. So its really been a dismal day of moaning and pain and lots and lots of sleep.
So I've been given medicine over and over again, as well as some kind of extract from a mushroom (or something of the sort... I don't really know). But about twenty minutes ago, I climbed into the bathtub and had a really long soak in warm/hot water. At the moment I'm actually feeling pretty good. My tongue and gland are still swollen and my throat is still sore. But my muscles don't ache as much and that makes everything much more bearable. In fact, it seems every time I take a nice long bath, be it after a hard day, when I'm sick, or when I just can't take any more nonsense, it always make me feel much better. So tell me, do you have something that perks up your dismal day? What constitutes a dismal day to you? or even, what was your most recent illness? |
Ugh, I hate when that happens. I thought I was at the start of a sickness just last night. Because my glands was swollen up and my tongue felt huge; which made it feel like I had a huge lump in my throat...which is annoying! I woke up this morning with it gone though; so I'm much better.
My back kills me all the time. I get my bad back from my father's side of the family. I'm going to ba walking around with a cane by the time I'm 3O, lol. Taking baths do help though! It relaxes the muscles and makes you feel much better. And if you've got sinus problems; it opens up your throat and nostrils, to help the mucus and everything else, get out. If I can't get in the bathtub at the time, I use a heating pad; it usually helps too. Relaxes the muscles and everything. C: |
Ouch, poor you, I hate it when your muscles hurt every movement you make D:
Hmmm, the best thing to perk me up when I'm feeling awful is to get a wet towel and put it over my forehead, how classic. x] Recent illness? A quick 2 hour fever on the first day of vacation in December. Twas nothing big, I just feel asleep on my bed with no blanket on xD |
A hot shower always does it for me :3
Whenever I feel sick, like a sore throat, sinuses, tummy-ache, or the dreaded Sinus Infection that hits me just about every year, a hot shower always seems to clear it all up quite well. but only when I'm in there, once I get out, I feel like crap again. If it wasnt for the fact the hot water runs out after about a half-hour in my shower, I'd never leave xD When I go to my cousin's house, I actually tend to fall asleep in the shower because the bathtub his so much bigger than mine. |
@Spunkifull: I'm jealous of your cousin. I wish my tub was bigger, it would make my aches feel a lot better.
Last time I had a stomach virus/flu I spent like 3 hours in the bathtub. And for that long I didn't feel like I was going to puke or die of discomfort. I'm actually pretty pathetic when I'm sick (and such a drama queen.) |
Hot baths always seem to heal me, but lots of rest and watching television helps too. =D
I hope you get better soon. =] |

no one likes being sick DX |
Depends on what's bothering me. Lately it's been some dried fruit and a good hug.

I've had a rather persistant cold since around September, and while some days are better than others, there's nothing like a hot shower and lounging around in a robe for the rest of the day, especially if everyone else is out of the house. Add some Disney movies and it's a great day :]
If that doesn't work though, a trip to the beach will usually do the trick. |
@ Cerise: Well, up until about a week ago, a trip to the beach was completely possible... but it suddenly decided to act like winter around these parts.... It rarely does this... it just waited until I was sick.
@ [L]ove[H]ate and Spunkifull: Thank you for your wishes. I hope I feel better tomorrow so I can go to work. |
@ Gypsy: Oh, goodness. That's completely unlucky >.> I hope the weather clears up for you soon, and I do hope you're feeling better.
