Okay, so Valentine's day is coming up and for you people with a significant other, you're possibly thinking of a gift to give for them. (And if you're spending Valentine's day alone, I'm sorry for rubbing this in your face. D: ) Anyway, I'm helping my best friend Mango with a Valentine's day gift for her girlfriend Sharon. (Yes, they're lezzy. No pervy jokes, plz.) She decided to give her a bunch of presents, and I helped come up with some ideas for it. I must say though, we really outdid ourselves this year. (About two years ago when Mango liked another girl, I helped her with a Valentine's day gift to give to the girl too, and it was so cool. The girl ended up rejecting Mango in the end though. Aww. ><) For our gift for Sharon though, Mango is giving her the following:

-A necklace made from three shells Mango got from a tidepool they went to together.
-A heart-shaped box filled with Mexican candy. (We bought it as a regular heart shaped box of chocolates, which is so cliche, and ate the chocolate inside it before we put the Mexican candy in. The chocolates were gross.)
-A DVD set of one of Sharon's favorite shows.
-A big heart shaped pillow from Target.
-A bouquet of origami-folded lilies. (This was my idea.)
-A skirt that Sharon wanted, placed in a box with a note that says, "Sharon, don't look in this box!" (The note was my idea. XD)

I forgot what else was there, but Mango also asked me to draw a little blue bear and a little pink bear corresponding to some of the presents. I am also making the origami bouquet. It's a ton of work, but she's going to buy me a DS game for a helping out. XD And offer I simply cannot refuse! And, I love to make and give handmade gifts. <3

As for me and my boyfriend, we aren't going to do anything for Valentine's day because he lives in another state and doesn't have internet access anymore. D: So we'll probably be on the phone all day watching Cheaters on G4. XD But last year I made a video for him and posted it on YouTube. O: It's so bad, but he loved it. ^^

I might pass out LazyTown Valentine's day cards to some of the people in my class, just for shits and giggles. XD We have our final on Valentine's day, so maybe Sportacus will let them chill a lil'. :B

Discussion:
-What gifts are you planning to give for Valentine's day?
-What was gifts have you gotten for Valentine's day?
-Do you prefer simple or extravagant gifts for V-Day?
-Anything that has to do with Valentine's Day presents.

Wow, that's a lot of presents! Lucky girl. The paper flowers sound really awesome. You should post a picture if you can. The video you made for your boyfriend is cute.

My boyfriend and I probably won't get each other anything too extravagant. Neither of us have much money. He usually gets me some sort of jewelry and I usually get him something that I know he's been wanting to buy like a dvd. We usually go out to dinner and pay for each other.

WOW! that's so cool. all that origami will make an excelent gift.
GAH, i'm not doing anything for valentines day, cuz I'm all alone. :cry: but i'll live.
what my school's french honors society did was we sold chocolate covered strawberries( for an outrageous price). But people seem to like strawberries and chocolate more than roses.

I'm actually single...yet I'm going all-out with a Valentine's Day present this year, too. Big first for me. o_o

You see...I wrote a song for someone...in my third language. I broke out my synthesizer for the first time in five years. I actually started practicing on the piano on the very day I got out of my hand splint...for the first time in years. And I've come up with something I'm quite proud of. :3

I'm debating whether or not to send some glass beaded flowers along with the recording. I've already given him some before, but it was completely anonymous, and I can do such a wide variety of flowers...if I sent more, it would be putting a name with my past gift, I'm just not 100% sure whether or not I want to do that. ^^;

Anyway...origami lilies, huh? Sounds nice. You should post a picture if you can - I'd like to see those. :3

Those are great gifts. <33 I'd love it if someone gave me things like that. xD

Well, I don't really have anyone to give stuff to.. but usually, Valentine's Day is all about chocolate. xD It makes everyone happy. 8]] Today, my mom and I went to a popular chocolate shop and bought boxes or chocolates [we chose which ones we wanted] for my dad and someone else.. and she bought one for me too, 'cause chocolate is just so yummy. xDD

If I were to get a v-day present, I'd like something simple, yet unique.. :D It'll be a while till I get an official present though. >>;

that sounds nice. I'm probably not gonna do anything on valentines day because I don't have a special someone. xD I'm gonna try to bake cookies for valentines day though. :3

That's really unique ^_^ I'm not sure what exactly I'm going to get for my girlfriend for Valentines day~ ._. *shame* We're going to a nice restaurant in town and I'm taking her dancing :3 But as for the material part, I'm conflicted xD

I want it to be simple but unique -- and something she'll value. That won't just gather dust <3 I don't usually like to buy something like a CD or DVD for somebody, because it just makes me sad that Valentines Day has turned into something more capitalistic than just exchanging small, lovey stuff... Which I know is kind of hypocritical in itself, because if I felt so strongly about it, I wouldn't buy anything at all or celebrate xD; It's just weird for me... Like, Christmas and birthdays are for wishlists, to me -- I want V-day to be more about cutesy sentimental love.

Last year, I bought my then-girlfriend a stuffed animal, Pocky, and Valentines fortune cookies... :3 I don't know what to this time ;3 My girlfriend loves chocolate, but I don't want to be cliche -- I'd love to give her a stuffy (which I think is the most precious, special gift ever <3 ), but she's not really into stuffed animals... She doesn't wear a lot of jewelry. ;o; I don't know what to do! *cries* I know she would love flowers, but -- again, a bit cliche ;o;

I could make her cookies, and I think I'll make her a hand-made card >w< I just don't knowww~ *headstand and brainstorm*

Aww..that's hella cute. Since I'm alone of VDAY I'm getting myself another bear. I bought me a huge $60 dollar bear last year and I'm gonna do it again.

Question! Was the note "Sharon, don't look in this box!" a Coupling refearance? lol

I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day as a couples things anymore, but as a general "I love you!" sort of day, so I like to send presents to all my best friends.

Last year I sent out packages with chocolate, paper wishing stars, readymechs to cut out and a few other cute things. It was very fun.

I'm not really doing anything this year, but I might pick a random day to celebrate later, like in April or something, just to be random. I have a lot of friends who like tea, so I want to send them gift certificates to a good tea company I found online.

I don't celebrate V-day. Its a couples day and I've never had a relationship to speak of, and doubt that its going to change within a few days.

So the only gifts I've ever gotten are those classwide chocolates and stuff.

I think those are good ideas. Even though I don't have a valentine I am still going to get something for my family!

These are some of my Ideas:

A box of Chocolates
A paper bouquet with
A card
A teddy bear

I know I don't have much ideas and to tell you the truth Valentines isn't my thing, but I tried my best and this is what I came up with.

Even though I got a couple, I haven't been to fond of valentines day due to little errors he has done over and over in that same freaking day but, I sometimes think that even though you are single or got a couple you should just go and chill and try to have fun that day instead of going into the loops and be the whole freaking day depress.

When I used to be single even if I wasn't expecting a gift, I would normally try and buy flowers for some of my friends and you know what? It would cheer me up to see a smile on their faces upon receiving the gift!

Other than that, I love that idea you had or making all of the gifts, I normally end up doing by computer or by hand the valentines cards and put my own personal message or try to draw something that they like and to my bf is just a lot of hug and kisses (real and candy ones.) and something else which is private. <,<;

Wow, people sure do a lot for valentines. I've never had a significant other so never really been into the whole valentines thing. Still, its nice that people get romantic around this time.

As for me, I've given a rose to a male friend of mine, he is 2 years my junior and at the time this age gap was significant enough such that we wouldn't even consider dating each other. I saw him more as a little brother than anything.

It was funny, I gave the rose to him through a school fundraising initiative where you could send a single rose to anyone at school, and on valentines day the group that organised it would deliver the roses to the homerooms. Anyway, the thing was apparently my friend was the only one that ended up getting a rose in his entire class. Which was rather amusing...

That's all I have to say on valentines day, other then I'll be spending it single this year.

I dont have a real valentine =(
But my manager at work and I are giving each other gifts xD
I'm making her a giant card, using red cardboard, foam sheets that I'll cut shapes out of, felt, glitter, pom-poms, heart stickers. It's going to be a really cool card :) Very 'hearty', too.
I'm also getting her a gift, but I'm not sure what yet. Perhaps a necklace.
I've never had a real valentine :(
I gave one to my friend a few years ago because she was sick, so I printed her off an e-card, and I did the same for a guy I liked at the time, but 'as friends' so he wouldn't get embarrassed. It was really embarrassing anyway, but that good kind I guess...? lol
I wonder if he still has it?! ><
