That didn't help very much. xD;;

So, i'm going to get a haircut on Saturday, and was wondering what hairstyle would fit my face. Except... i didn't know what my 'face shape' was. xD It kinda looks like every type there is-- square, oval, round, heart, a combination of square and oval, etc.
i went to Yahoo Answers and posted there, and none of the answers agreed. xD Some said the hair i wanted would suit my face, while others said not. xDDD So now i'm more confused then ever!
i hate it when an answer just confuse me more! xD
So discuss: Asking questions and getting more confused then before, face shapes, etc. :D

I was actually looking on this one site where you uploaded a picture of you and use the program to try different hairstyles. *checks her bookmarks*

Sorry, doesn't look like I saved it. But I know I did find it searching either yahoo or google.

YOUR FACE SHAPES LOOKS LIKE EVERYTHING?!

Woman, I must see your face. o.o

But uh. You should ask the hairstylist instead. :'D

Um,um. xD I can't think of situations where I ask more questions to get more confused!

I know I have though.

I think there was one time I asked my friend's boyfriend something and he's weird. He doesn't have perfect English. So I'm asking him the same thing over and over again. It was useless. xD

xDDD i meant it could look like every face type. [oval, round, heart, square, etc.] xD [Here's a picture of just my face.]
Yah, i will ask my hairdresser. :D

Aww, that sucks. i usually have to deal with that with my parents, since they sometimes don't recognize a word in English~

Usuri 02-19-2008 01:35 AM

I hate my face shape. its like oval and when I take picture I always get angels because I don't really have much protrudy jaw bone stuff so it always looks really awkward.

I'm sure really good hairdressers can figure it out no problem. ^-^ Sometimes when I ask help with homework and stuff or ask someone to explain it, I just get more confused. :/

I also hate those definitions in the dictionary that use the word itself to define it. xD

wispytearz 02-19-2008 02:08 AM

Face shape isn't as important to hairstyle as some make it out to be. The size of your face and the type of hair you have will make a difference too. I have the right shaped face for a lot of really cute short cuts, but because my hair gets really poofy when it's cut short (unless it's layered a lot) most of them look really stupid on me.
So yeah, part of picking a good hair cut is knowing your hair and all, not just face shape. Sometimes a hairstylist can recommend a good cut but sometimes you just have to experiment with it. Good luck finding a nice cut ^_^

Try taking a bar of soap and drawing the outline of your face on a mirror and see what it looks like.

I never really thought of facial shape when it comes to haircuts...
Although, I've been told I look like Jack Black before, and so I assumed long rocker-boy hair was the way to go.
But mom convinced me to have it cut and styled since it was so long, and afterwards I was told I looked like Orlando Bloom.
which made me very happy because I was being compared to a celebrity that's actually attractive 8D
It's kinda grown back out now, halfway between Jack Black and Orlando Bloom. So I guess I'm my own person at the moment :3

I usually stick with a mid length bob...from what I've been told by my hairstylist, you really can't go wrong with my haircut no matter what your face shape. I guess she could be right because her face is totally different from mine and though we both have the same kind of haircut, we both look super cute with it. Her's is better...she's better at the styling part. I'm just too lazy and usually just leave it where it lies.

I had a friend who's boyfriend wouldn't give a straight answer sometimes. He'd say something and I didn't know him very well, so I'd ask what he meant when he said it. And he'd just say, "Well, take it any way you want to."
It was so frustrating!

mystic kiwi 02-19-2008 06:59 AM

I hate when people do that, it annoys me so much. As for hairstyles, I normally look at pictures on google then decide what I like from there. I tend not to pay too much attention to my face shape.

That pisses me off to no end. Why are you even bothering to print that out? I understand that excitement means to be excited, but I still wouldn't know what excited means. What's even worse is when I look up a word in the dictionary, and I have to look for 10 more minutes to figure out what the words in the definition mean.

ANYWAY;;
I have no idea what my face shape is. I'm really curious now. I'm going to go Google it. Hah. I've never really given much thought to my hairstyles, either. Usually I cut it myself out of boredom. So long as my hair is long enough to put up, I couldn't care less. I have no patience with my hair, and anything outside of a 2-minute straightening job will not get done.

maybe it would be good asking the hairdresser/stylist/whoever about ya know examples they can show you that can frame your face or head or whatever also that won't have you thinking when you get home and look in the mirror "awww man i look like a flippin gobber" trust me i've been there :roll:

rampartte 02-22-2008 06:07 AM

I think you will not get a clear cut answer on what hairstyle would be best for you from a generic audience over the web because everyone's personal preferences are different. You might look really cute with short hair and a lot of people tell you, but then there are those on the went who just HATE short hair so they tell you to get it long. But that is just an example because I don't know what the hairstyle you really want looks like.

I think any question that is asked on someone elses personal opinion is more like asking a survey or poll. You almost never ever get one hundred percent on just one answer. So, I think you should go with the hairstyle that you will really like and make you happy, since it is your head and face that has to see and live with it everyday, after all. XD

And face shapes aren't an exact science, but they mainly have to doe with cheek bone and jawline placement. For example, A heart shape doesn't have a dip like a heart at the top, unless that person is sporting a little vampy cowlick. So heart shapes realistically look more like triangles with rounded sides at the top and could be a heart made out of the high cheeks and narrow chin in the middle of the face.

And over and a rectangle face are very similar, it is just judging by your opinion if you think the edges of their face are more rounded narrower or fuller. It is the same with the round and square faces.

Hope that helps! <3

Try looking for a software that will let you see what some hairstyles will look like on your face, and when you find what you like, you can print the picture and showe it to the hair cutter.

Another way is, you can buy a book of the latest hairstyles or open websites of famous hairstylists. Take a lot of hairstyle samples with you which you really like, which look good on people with face shapes similar to yours or similar hair colors as yours and show them all to the hair cutter and let him/her to see if among any of those there are style that will look the best for your from his/her point of view and experience as a hair stylist.

Sometime the best hair cut won't shows rigth after you go out of that place, but after you wash your hair yourself. It will show its natural texture and form to you...and then you can style it into whatever you like. (You can ask to your hairstylist what kind of daily styles will look best for your new haircut and how to do it)

Hope that helps...and not too confusing. ^^;;

Actually, I have a similar problem with my hair. Because I have a round face, my family says I look better with shorter hair, but every time I go to get a haircut, they kind of look at me like I'm crazy when I ask them to cut it how I like it.

You see, my hair is very long in the front. My bangs go all the way down to my shoulders, and I am still growing them out. But in the back (From the crown of my head to the nape of my neck) I usually keep it really short, even less than an inch sometimes.

It's one of those hairstyles that are very difficult to explain when you want to get it cut. I have to do it at home because they always mess something up for me. Kind of sucks, but at least I know how to cut my own hair.
