It's going on right now here. It's so pretty.

wispytearz 02-21-2008 03:07 AM

A friend of mine says she's watching it right now, but she lives an hour away where the clouds aren't covering the sky. It's been snowing all day here and the clouds haven't let up enough to make out any sky, much less the eclipse. This is sad because I really would have liked to see it.

Petrakan 02-21-2008 03:08 AM

I just went outside, and it is so cloudy, I can not tell if I can see the eclipse or not. The sky is sort-of red though. Does that mean anything? What will the eclipse look like anyway?

Risque 02-21-2008 03:13 AM

Mmm, I got outside my house just in time to see the eclipse.

It was awesome, and it was the first eclipse I have ever seen. C:

Striped Chocolate 02-21-2008 03:26 AM

A lunar eclispe?? I swear I saw one here where I live last year. Or maybe it's just in another time zone. >.< Anyways, the lunar eclipse I saw was when the moon turned red and all that stuff, and then it was covered the clouds. T_T

Lonica 02-21-2008 04:13 AM

There was one march 7, 2007 I believe

Charme D'Amour 02-21-2008 04:14 AM

I watched it for a good few minutes. It was pretty cool.

clock 02-21-2008 04:16 AM

Nyaa, I'd really go out and watch it if it wasn't so cold outside. :[ I'd even go out and watch it if I was at my boyfriend's. I want to see one!! Ah well, there will be another one. <3

Mascot Sith 02-21-2008 04:27 AM

My time zone is Pacific
Is it out yet?

Yeah 02-21-2008 04:32 AM

My son and I stood outside for a little while and watched but, it's too cold to stay out long. I tried to take pictures and get some video but, it didn't turn out very well.

Fullmetal Phantom 02-21-2008 04:59 AM

I just got back from watching it. It was beautiful...until the clouds rolled in and hid everything. >.<; But it was ending anyway when that happened. XD;

I went out with my parents, and we went to the top of this hill just outside of town...kept the car doors closed; the wind was blowing at near hurricane force. o__o;; Scared the living crap out of me; the car was shaking and...it was crazy.

But it was quite nice to watch that. :3 It's still about 1/4 eclipsed now, but...because of the clouds, I can't see more than just this blurry glowing partial circle. >.<;

Sadly, I was working during the eclipse tonight. I would like to have seen it, but I was behind a register all night. It did make for a pleasant evening though, since my store was completely empty of customers for a space of a few hours. ^__^ Made for a very enjoyable evening, even if I didn't get to see the eclipse.

Intoxicating Envy 02-21-2008 05:23 AM

Sadly I could see no moon throughout the eclipse.

It was covered by clouds.

arcrys 02-21-2008 05:28 AM

sigh

I'm really disappointed that I missed it. I'm grateful for all the replies though (I never expected so many!). During this wonderful event I was sitting at a computer in a dimly lit room doing e-learning about common sense and some basic knowledge.

:(

My darling saw it, but he said his friend just came over and grabbed him so he didn't have time to grab my camera. So no pictures for me :(

Does anybody have any that they took? I would love to see some, if anyone does.

Cable Induced Coma 02-21-2008 05:38 AM

I don't have any pictures sadly..I ran outside just in time to see it cover up. It was pretty neat..especially since I have never seen one before.

MasterChiefrei 02-21-2008 05:40 AM

I was able to see it after getting out of the movies and it was really cool. >w< I was a little worried since it was supposed to be cloudy tonight but we were able to see the eclipse just fine. ^ ^ Hope you got to see it too.

Marguerite Blakeney 02-21-2008 05:46 AM

I only got to see a little bit of it. Since I'm on the West Coast, I didn't get to see the start of it. I saw whatever happened AFTER the total lunar eclipse...just really sad that there's no new one till 2010. Well, two more years. I didn't even get to see a reddish glow. Stupid clouds and wind flying around everywhere...and it's cold outside too!

Javert 02-21-2008 05:50 AM

I watched it for awhile, but I could only stand the cold for so long. ^^;. It was a black-red by the time I saw it. Unfortunately, all the pictures I took came out bad, so I can't share any. All you can see in the picture is the night sky- without stars. If I had a decent camera, it would have been an awesome picture- where I was standing, there were some branches just in front of the moon, and Regulus and Saturn were clear. But it's not. :(. Oh, well. There's no use dwellling on that fact.

Nana0o 02-21-2008 05:59 AM

I got to see it ^_^ it was really neat. I have never seen one. It was really interesting.

bearysplash 02-21-2008 06:17 AM

mocha_san 02-21-2008 06:28 AM

I stayed outside with a bunch of friends and watched it. Sure, we all practically froze to death, but it was awesome nonetheless.

vmars 02-21-2008 06:41 AM

I saw it! I did not realize that it was a big deal until it was mentioned to me that it was this big thing that only happens today at a certain time. I was really lucky. It was pretty cool too. Doesn't a lunar eclipse mean that the earth is casting a shadow onto the moon because the sun is directly opposite of it? I think that is what it is, I might be wrong though. Regardless it is a pretty cool thing to be able to experience.

dianakitsune 02-21-2008 08:09 AM

I've seen one before... it's kind of boring since it takes so long XD I only saw it while half the moon was coverd, and then I stopped watching since it took forever and I was tired...

Reverie 02-21-2008 08:53 AM

I got to see it!

I thought it would have been later on here, but my mom ended up telling me about it sooner. The reddish orange hue is always so surreal to me, so it was really cool to see it. I stood outside in chilly weather for around 20 minutes just to stare at it when I could just as easily have looked at it from inside. XP Was nice to get glimpses of Saturn and Regulus as well, though I didn't have a telescope to see them with. :( I'd love to get one for future viewings.

In any case, it was a beautiful clear night here, so the conditions were absolutely perfect for the occasion. :)

Mage 02-21-2008 09:11 AM

I saw it! Stood in the cold for about half an hour or so... I was hoping to catch a fever, but that didn't really happen. I still have to do my homework. T_T

Apparently, it's going to be the last one until 2010? I'm glad I caught the first and last one of the year. xD
