Lunar Eclipse
So apparently there is supposed to be a lunar eclipse tonight. The last one that will be visible for 3 years! I found an article that says it will start around 8:45, but doesn't state what time zone that is :\
Regardless, I think it would be a pretty neat event. Worth trying to watch at any rate. I work tonight, but I think I should be able to still see it, I get off right after it starts (assuming that it was my time zone the article was in). So. Are you gonna try and watch some of it? |
Well, I'll see it if it's still there when I get out of class tonight @ 9:15. Hopefully it will still be there. I love things like that.
|
Well, depending on the time zone it should be. By the sounds of it it will last probably about 3 - 3.5 hours. So, no doubt you will be able to at least catch a glimpse of it.
The full eclipse will be from 10pm to 10:50. |
I saw it, twas nifty.
|
The total eclipse, however, will be in India. Here's a quote taken from weblogs.newsday.com.

Oh, awesome yay! I'm excited to see it. I might not watch the whole thing, but I'll watch part of it for sure.
Edit: Oh, do you happen to know how the Eastern time zone compares to the Central time zone? |
Oh darn, if it is est that I will see only the tail end of it. Ah well, hopefully that will still look neat :)
|
Here is Nasa's information on it:
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclips...2008Feb21.html And the times you listed are EST according to the chart. This chart also lists other time zones. |

And darn, according to that I will see the last nine minutes of it. I'll be at work from just before it starts to just before it ends. Though, knowing my work, it will be right up until it ends :( Oh well. |
Well, if I can stand long enough and feel up to it, I can try and take pictures for you, if the sky isn't cloudy.
And no problem ^^ |
Aww, ty :) I'd be taking pictures myself if I didn't have to work :( Finally a good use to put my camera to, and I can't :(
|
If I sit at the computer I think I'll be able to see it through the window above the computer :]
|
:o My friends and I are driving out of town tonight so we can see the sky better, and we're going to watch the lunar eclipse together. I'm pretty excited about it. I've never seen one before.
|
Yeah one of my teachers was talking about it in class but he didn't know if the time that he found was for our time zone or not. I really want to see it so I'll be sad if I miss it just because I don't know what time it's supposed to be.
|
yeah...I hope to see it as well. It seems pretty neat, but I tend to miss about everything. I was so sad when I missed the meteor shower a long while back. I hope you get to see it.
|
sweet! I will try and catch it tonight! Thanks for the heads up. I'm terrible at dealing with the cold so I will have to get my big coat @[email protected]
|
I think i might watch it, but i don't have an alarm clock to wake me up at 4am. It's the last one that will be fully visable from the UK until 2015.
|
I watched the last one and it was pretty cool. I don't think I'll be able to watch this one because I have to work late tonight, but if I get out early enough I would love to watch it.
|
If it's 8:45 my in my time zone maybe I will drag my son outside to see it. It's kind of cold out though.
|
for my time zone its suppose to be at 9:00pm-9:51pm
but idk. Yeah i dont know if ill go out and look at it caz its frezzing like -35 degrees with the wind chill |
I used to be ABSOLUTELY PETRIFIED of those when I was little. I tried my best to not go outside or look out the windows every night we had one of those. I can't wait to see tonight's though! xD I'm going to take videos of it and put it on youtube. <3
|
I want to see that :o I just don't know at what time HERE it will show :3 I heard it's going to be red xP cool!
|
I'm hoping we'll get a good view of it. It's 18:46 my time and the moon is clearly visible, it looks red o_o
Still got several hours until the eclipse, so I hope the weather will stay clear. |
Are you serious? O_O" Why didn't I see this on the calender...? Oh yeah I didn't check it at all this month ^^"...
That's exciting, and explains some things..*nods* yeah... O_O" I hope the snow goes away so I can see it..but it probably won't..*looks outside*-_-' |
I was just listening to a story on this on NPR during my lunchtime drive. :D
I'm quite excited to see it actually. I've seen a solar eclipse before, but I don't recall ever seeing a lunar eclipse. I do hope it won't get cloudy this evening, though there's a chance of snow, so I probably won't have much luck seeing it. :( |
