Only 3 of my wisdom teeth grew in. So that made it cheaper when I had them removed ;D
By the time I was more awake and aware of my surroundings, I was already home on the couch. I had a bad reaction to the anesthetics they gave me though. Anytime I sat up, I would get sick! And every time I would get sick, my gums would start bleeding again. I couldn't eat anything, so I couldn't take my pain killers for the day. I was much better by the next day though and it was easy from there. |
The only wisdom teeth I had taken out were the bottom ones when I was 15. So that was around three years ago. They were taken out at two different times. The first one came out quite easily when I had the procedure. I was like, "Damn this was easy". The second time I went in to get the other bottom one out was an extreme pain. It felt like the freezing didn't work at all. After the procedure, we were waiting for the dentist, the nurse kept telling me not to lie down but I was in extreme pain. It wasn't until the ride home that it felt like the freezing kicked in. I've told my mom that if I go in to get the upper ones out, I want to be completely knocked out.

I've gotten all of my wisdom teeth in, the last just coming in a few months ago. I feel for anyone who has to have all four removed at once as a good friend of mine IRL recently did. X_x

I'm about 19 and a half, and I'm getting my two upper and lower wisdom teeth in on the left side. My brother is just 17 but getting his as well. He's always been an early bird.
I don't want to get them pulled...but if I do, I want them all out the same day so I suffer for only a few days at a time. They say you shouldn't wait long to do it after they come in, because it will hurt more. |
I only have one full grown wisdom tooth- and I'm 21. ^^;. I have a very small piece of tooth growing in on the bottom of my mouth, and two VERY tiny bits of tooth are coming in on the left side. These small ones have been like this for several years now, and show no signs of growing. But my dentist doesn't seem to think anything of it, so I really shouldn't, either. They also didn't hurt at all when they grew in- I was only able to feel them if I touched them. :). I'm really hoping they don't have to be pulled, but if what I hear every time I go to the dentist is any indication, I won't. :)

Not only does it cost less to get them pulled early, it hurts less. The top one are also easier and less painful to remove. The only thing is, not everyone needs them removed, and if you don't need it, you're getting an unnecessary surgery. I have all my wisdom teeth, but none of them are compacted. I don't need them removed.

You're lucky you could keep them~
For me, there is more of an ache on the bottom jaw, so I guess that must be true. |
Jeepers. I envy everyone who gets to have their wisdom teeth removed.
That's just me though. I have to go for Brain Surgery in April and I'm freaking out. It's terrible. |
Hopefully I will have room in my mouth for all of my wisdom teeth and I won't have to get any removed. Three out of the four are already pretty much in, but the fourth one is actually giving me some problems.
The first 3 came in perfect...really straight, no tooth/mouth aches...but the last one. It's on the bottom on my left side is coming in on an angle and it's starting to push against the tooth next to it and I'm starting to get a lot of pain....so sadly I may have to get that one removed. :( I hope not...but we took x-rays and stuff and you can definitely see the tooth is coming in crooked. |
If it's coming in wrong, it'll definitely have to be removed. One tooth is nothing. =P
|
X3 My wisdom teeth are coming in and I'm not even 18 yet. Hee. D: But I hope my mouth is big enough for them.
XD Two people in my family already got their removed. :) And I kinda like it when someone gets their wisdom teeth remove because my mom always makes us jello (It's the only thing they can really eat with their mouth all numb and painful). :) Yum~ jello! |
Mine are coming in x_X
I'm not eighteen yet, but I'm seventeen so I'm close. It's miserable. I'm always chewing on my hoodie to relieve it. |
I had mine removed in my early 30's and one was impacted. It wasn't really fun. It took a while to heal. Like you, I have a small mouth so the corners of it hurt when I woke up from the dentist's big hands. lol
|
I'm a big mouth. I haven't been to the dentist in quite a few years (don't have coverage, sadly), but the last time I went, the dentist inspected my wisdom teeth.
I had 8 grow in, with room for 4 more to grow in. BIG BIG mouth. I'm a neanderthal, lol. I dunno why, just strange. I'm the only one in my family like that too, lol. I got gifted with good teeth. I feel blessed for that, lol. I hate the dentist. Metal on my teeth makes me want to puke. |
I had all mine out before I realized they were coming in. XD They didn't hurt but it was recommended I get them out and this was when I was 18 *two years ago*
The procedure went smoothly but it took me 20 minutes to wake up which had my mom slightly worried. XD The first day I tried to eat something I got sick and that wasn't very pleasant at all. ><; After the first day I was able to have soup but I couldn't handle anything semi solid because it hurt too much to chew and the stitches felt weird. ><; But indeed it's better to get them out before the roots set in because it's not only cheaper, it hurts less. |
Like Tresh, I'm lucky to have very good teeth. Yet I have a tiny mouth and never had a problem with the wisdom teeth growing in. My gums hurt when they did, though.
|
Ahhh, wisdom teeth! DDDD8 Total fear for when mine have to be pulled. Some reason being put to sleep just.. makes me want to fight it? XD I don't know, just a weird thought of being 'put to sleep'. Not to mention I went to the dentist a week ago. Those numb-needles do NOT feel numb when he jabs them into your mouth. -_- All these stories of how much it hurts and how they come in before you turn 18 scares me. >_> |
owie
mine havent come in yet |
I still have mine in. One has broken through the gums but it doesnt seem crowded in there at all...my brother on the other hand had to have 6 teeth pulled last year...4 wisdom and 2 normals cause his mouth was all messed up x.x he felt bleh for a week or so after that lol. I'm also nervious about getting them taken out or any surgery if i ever have to get it. My mom had an allergic reaction to anestheisa when she had a surgery to remove her breast cancer (something else i get to look out for) and almost died... @[email protected] i have no idea if i share her allergies
|
I've had one removed so far and it was quite painless to have removed.
|
Ok I'm having a bit of a problem (long story). No I haven't had mine taken out yet because it's not April 1 yet and yes Toffee is my mule, BUT...
How long did it take for you guys to recover from surgery? Especially like...how long did it take for the swelling to go down? I'm starting a part-time job REALLY REALLY SOON like next week and I don't want to get fired because I have the operation in two weeks...which is my spring break. I have less than a week to recover, even, so I'm in a totally sticky situation. I'll be knocked the hell out during school (with the Vicodin), but what's worse is that I don't wanna get fired from my job...and this is my first job! So yeah...how long does it take for recovery?? |
I don't think mine have begun to come in, but I have no idea.
I'm afraid of what will happen because the rest of my mouth is pretty crooked and messed up, there's a history of bad mouths/teeth in my family. @Marguerite Blakeney: I don't think it would be problem if you simply called up your boss/manager and told them that you may not be able to make it into work due to an upcoming dental surgery. Let them know that you're getting your wisdom teeth out and that you're unsure of how long it'll take you to recover. If it turns out that you're still doing really poorly when it's time to start your job, call them and let them know that you're not recovering very well and that you can't make it in. |
Ouch!
One of my friends recently had to have all four of his wisdom teeth removed, it would have been really painful, had they not given him enough Codeine to kill a horse. He was pretty zoned-out for a couple of days! My wisdome teeth are really weird. The bottom ones started coming through a few years ago, but stopped halfway. Then a year or so later one of my top ones starting poking through a bit, but that stopped, too. One of my bottom ones recently started coming through a bit more again, so who knows- maybe I'll actually get a whole tooth coming through this time! |
Iiiiiiiiiiick I just had mine taken out this morning...and I am currently in EXCRUCIATING pain! I took a Vicodin for pain relief like, an hour ago, and it hasn't kicked in. I'm not looking forward to my face lookin' like a Croagunk or Pikachu (well actually Pikachu's cool <3) but I intend to sleep this week off. Only thing is one of my friends is supposed to visit me tomorrow...I hope he brings me a cold compress.
Anyone else know of pain relief for wisdom teeth?? I can't rinse my mouth out till tomorrow : ( Edit: In addition to my previous post up there, my bosses gave me the OK to not go to work this week. Hopefully that's all I need. |
i thought they normally came in at fourteen. O_o
my teacher said that and it made me scared. i don't want them. ;~; my mouth is tiny (hahaha. that's what she said. k, get over it), so i'd probably have to get them removed and it seems like it would be painful. D; so they put you to sleep, eh? seems like a good idea. >_> <_< |
