When I was about eight or nine,I had a guinea pig farm or at least that's what I called it.My first guinea pig was a few years old when I got him and he used to be a class pet for my second oldest sister.Anyways, his name was Chester and I swear he must have been the godfather of all guinea pigs because he was so enormous but not in the sense that he was fat but simply abnormally big for a guinea pig.So one day i'm at school going through the usual routine when I get called to the principles office, once there I find out something had happened to one of my guinea pigs.I find out that Chester had somehow managed to squeeze is large self out of his cage but got stuck and struggled so much that the little guy sprained his right back leg/foot.By the time I got home,he had a mini-brace on his leg and kept hopping around oddly. The sprain lasted for a few weeks before it healed but still,a guinea pig had sprained it's foot...it's was quite odd indeed.

I've never heard of a hamster spraining it's leg, so that's a new one. Funny how animals always want to get out of something and end up hurting themselves.

@Paprika,

How did he get a BB bullet in his bum? Did some little kid like shoot him or something?

Our old house had about 32 acres of land, sometimes he would go off in the woods and come back in a couple hours...i'm assuming someone was illegally on our land and saw him, and since hes a friendly dog, he probably went to go say hi and they shot him. I wanted to get my dads shotgun after that and hunt them down...jerkfaces. :(

@ ghostbuster,

Thank you very much. he's already back to his normal self and walking somewhat like it too. It hurts him once in a while, but that's his fault since he likes to go crazy and jump off of everything.

@Paprika,

Wow, I hate when people trespass, it drives me nuts! And the fact that they had the herve to do that to a friendly dog makes it even worse.

Yea i know i was SO mad, he was MY dog. Used to sleep with me in my bed at night and just stay in the same room as me all the time when i was home, i loved him so much. <3 He never even BARKED at a person, growled or bit ANYTHING. My poor puppy. <3 I'll never forget him. :D

But yea we used to have kids trespassing to set up paintball spots and stuff thinking we wouldnt notice all the cars parked on the side of the road near the house when we caught them doing it before. e.e or the hunters ignoring the no trespassing signs.../smacks silly selfish people

I really don't understand why people can't just swallow their pride and ask if they can set up something on other people's land or hunt on it. There's only two answers they could get and that way they don't have a crazy farmer coming after them with a shotgun! ; - )

Lol, we werent farmers...it was mostly trees. Not really any fieldish areas on the land...there was however a Stone Quarry in it. O.o

But yea its annoying because they think they can be all sneaky sneaky about it and we always used to find them.

Ah, sorry. By the farmers joke I was reffering to my family because most of the guys would have ran out with the shotgun, I probably would have too.

Oh i totally would have but, yea cant do that! XD

Mmm now i want to get a dog again, and try to get one similar to my dog Sully. :(

He had to be put to sleep because he had tumors growing in his lungs/neck...causing lots of breathing problems, also he had lyme disease too. we used to have to give him doggie asprin because he would have a hard time getting up after sleeping because it would hurt. I love animals soo much but its so hard when you lose them...people dont think losing a pet can be the same as losing a family member but to me they are a family member.

Awe, I'm sorry to hear that.

I agree that they are like family members! I mean really, you feed them, have to look after them, play with them and at night they sleep with you and when someone is hurting you they bite them. It's the same thing you would have to do with a sibling or your own child, so I don't understand how some people can't see it.

Yeah, it bothers me how people that commit acts of animal cruelty dont get punished as severe as if they had done it to a person. Its no different than picking on a young kid. In my eyes at least...at least the animals can SORTA defend themselves but like all the people that pick on the animals smaller than them or starve the animals and do other things...and they just get a slap on the wrist and "dont do it again" when people find out...really bugs me.

I know! It's disgusting how humans take advantage of animals just becasue they are what they are.

I was in Edmonton for my sister's volleyball tournament one weekend and I was reading the paper and it tlaked about how some guy stole someone's dog and slit it's throat. All they knew was that the dog was outside barking and had been loose once and come into that guy's yard. The owner came home to his dog missing and the neighbor a couple houses down had phoned the police about hearing a dog let out terryfing yelp. They went and looked and sure enough it was his dog.

I don't think I could handle something like that. It's totally morifying to think someone would be so cruel as to do something like that. It's just so wrong!

Well the only time that my dog was ever seriously in pain was because of either needles or an operation she has had. When she does get hurt though she doesn't seek attention and when we accidentally hurt her with our pets she makes the most pathetic, heart wrenching noises that we will just leave her alone.

Thats so weird, I live in Edmonton right now and i remember reading about that. Im from the US but my BF is from here so i moved last august to be with him. We're nerdies and met online and whatnot...almost been together a year now! But yea i deliver newspapers (untill march 31st) and i remember reading about that...the dog got loose and the neighbor was pissed about the dog always getting out..its name was Sam i think, so he killed it and dumped it behind a shed...sick people.

Do you remember the cat mutilator from the summer that was in Edmonton?

Lol, well we both like video games and we're also more often than not playing them together. Whether its via our computers or my BFs 360. I love him all the more for being able to just play video games with him. <3 :D

Back on topic...Canada needs SPCA people with police powers like some of the cities in the states.

Yea, I don't like our SPCA's here. Where I live, it's really full in there just becasue people don't want their pets anymore, like they bore them. It's rather disgusting that they think of a pet as a toy and that when they get sick of it they can just toss it to the SPCA.

I guess it's kind of the SPCA's fault that they don't make rules of what animals they accept into their shelter instead of taking everything. People are just too lazy to find ther animals good homes if they don't 'want' them anymore'.

I've never heard of how the cities there run their shelters so I guess I have no reason to complain since I don't know any better.

Its not the SPCA's fault, im glad they will take anything otherwise those pets would just be out on the streets. Some of them still are because SPCA doesnt get the funding it needs so they run out of room and cant take all the pets. Its sad :( if i ever get tons of money im totally donating some to SPCA!

Yea, I guess so. The owners shoudl still try to find a pet a better home before giving it to the SPCA though. Not many people want to get pets from there because they're afraid of it or something. My parents always hated going there for pets becasue they felt they were 'tainted'. It was weird, but there are a lot of people who don't go there for that exact reason.

Yea, it is. We have things that can do everything for us now.

Awe, my puppy just slipped on the ice because he wanted to run really fast. I have to admit it was kind of funny.

I haven't had a dog in a long time, but my dog (max) was probably the fattest, happiest, terrier on earth xD He was so fat he waddled everwhere. But according to my parents we didn't adopt him, but he adopted us. Litterally, he was a stray, and he would keep coming to our house, so we took him in and since nobody was looking for a terrier we kept him. He got fat because our neighbor fed him lots of casseroles >.< (she made them JUST for him). He was always in pain though, probably due to being overweight, but he was still happy.

I've always wondered why he ran away though... because he ran away from our house a lot too... kinda like what someone said on the first page, but he picked the same spot every time >.< (he would hide under a red car a block away)

I love when neighbors make your pets really fat! It just makes them excited to get some food and they're always happy!

I've had so many animals that have "ran-away", but I'm pretty sure someone was stealing them. One day our other neighbors let our old cat into their house and kept him in there for a week. I was really upset when I found out because those kids had been my friends jsut to steal my poor little fat kitty. After that we stopped letting our cats outside, but had to give them away since my dad's allergies were working themselves up again. I cried when the lady took them, but she seemed really nice so I'm okay now.

After years of begging, we finally got another pet which is my puppy, Nash. He used to be so small adn cute, but now he's growing like a little weed and he likes to steal everything. His favorite thing to steal is my towel when I'm in the shower. I freaked out becasue I thought someone stole it, but he was under the coffee table chewing on it.
