I know! But they'd make noise if you rattled around in there.
What if you got stuck? D:

You could try hiding in their back yard, and make sure they leave a door open. Or jam one?

Honestly, we Bahamians might use something like a bat but the majority would probably use a cutlass. Nowadays we always have to be to careful.

Rubber Lemons 03-25-2008 08:34 PM

eheh. when i am home alone i dont notice anything because i am just playing computer. i have an aluminum bat though. i wonder where i put it...

Easther_Bunni 03-25-2008 08:45 PM

I don't really know what I would do.

I'd probably just grab anything heavy that was nearby, like a fireplace poker or something. But that would only be if I actually knew someone was in my house. If I wasn't absolutely sure, I would probably do nothing. We have renters living downstairs, so I would assume it was them.

I usually feel comfortable during the day, but sometimes I feel paranoid at night.

Thus, it makes sense that my safety weapon of choice is my flashlight. It is heavy with four D batteries, and a good grip on it. Plus, I can use it to shine the light in the intruder's eyes!

When I'm walking home though, I like to carry my portable umbrella ^-^ The handle extends with the touch of a button, so I can turn it into a bat and whack the guys in surprise.

KawaiiKasu 03-25-2008 10:52 PM

I'm usually okay at night by myself, but if I start thinking about things too much, like "What if there's someone behind me?" while I'm walking through the dark, I freak out.

Aeisha 03-25-2008 11:01 PM

I hate being at home alone at night especially when things start going bump. But anyway generally when I am home alone and I am starting to get a bit nervous I will walk around the house as quietly as possible with my hands clenched tight (don't think that would do much good) not that would do much good.
We do have a base ball bat in the house but chances are it's in my brothers room meaning I wouldn't be able to find it.
Other than that I sleep with a knife by my bed but that is for snakes rather than anything else.

Casiana 03-25-2008 11:07 PM

My safety object? Well, I have a total of four. 3 of them are my dogs, and one of them is my cell phone :) If I'm scared, I turn the ringer/vibrate off (just in case I get taken away- don't want a phone call giving my only hope of survival away!) and make sure it's charged and always by me, then I go lay by my dogs (if I'm home).

Eddafred 03-25-2008 11:25 PM

My safety object is a large hunting knife I keep hidden in my room.

It's pretty old/well used, so the blade isn't uber sharp, but it'll still scare people xD

Wynna 03-25-2008 11:28 PM

When I'm at home alone...I know this is going to make me sound crazy...but I hear a noise and that, I take the carving knife with me to check out the noise. I guess it wouldn't seem crazy if there actually was a maniac there.

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 05:00 AM

@Wynna: I'm the same way, but I took my bat. I jsut feel I'm more able to use it than a knife becasue I don't like stab wounds.

@Eddafred: Blunt knives scare me. They can usually do more dammage than a sharp kniofe and cause alot more pain.

@Casiana: Yeah, the cell phone is a good one. I was thinking about that, but I think it would probably get tossed out of a pocket in the battle.

`Kitami 03-26-2008 06:12 AM

I have an aluminum baseball bat. It take it with me when I hear strange noises.

I also have a katana and a medium sized dagger, but they are mainly for decoration, as I wouldn't know how to use them to fight/defend myself with.

But the bat...that I know how to use. :x
If I can't find the bat, I get the broomstick. Less damaging, but the swinging principle is the same. ;3

freeglader of the edge 03-26-2008 06:40 AM

I actually have a katana so that might help a little, lol. But if there was someone in my house at night i don't think i would be smart enough to go looking for them, id probably just stay in my room and hide. Ooh, i also have a knife, not very big ,but it would do more damage than the katana, since the katana is dulled xD.

Dayla 03-26-2008 07:09 AM

I have a metal bat in my room. I don't keep it there for protective purposes, but sometimes I can sleep better knowing it's there, though my room is on the second floor and it would be hard sneaking in.

I also have a dog, but he's the biggest chicken in the world so I wouldn't be able to depend on him. XD Plus, I'd be too worried about him getting hurt. He hates strangers though, and any noise that could mean someone coming in will set him off barking, so if anyone were to break in, I'd know.

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 02:47 PM

@Dayla: Yeah, the worst my dog could do to dammage someone is licking them to death and hitting them with his tail.

@Kitami: I've never really thought about the broomstick. It's a little too light for my taste. =)

arcrys 03-26-2008 02:57 PM

My boyfriend has a metal bat that he used to grab whenever we heard commotion in the hallways (it was a big apartment building, lots of shady characters). He'd then creep up to the door and watch through the peephole, bat in hand just in case.

Personally, I'd probably grab one of the knives that we have upstairs if I was completely terrified, but since the noises I hear are normally the cats, once I confirm that I have no need of a big knife. And I wouldn't want to hurt the kitties.

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 03:40 PM

Yea, it would be bad to hurt little kitties. Usually I just grab the thing closest, which is usually my bat because I don;t wnt to be running all the way to the kitchen to grab something sharp.

KatMagenta 03-26-2008 04:55 PM

I get paranoid when I stay up too late. Eventually, the longer I stay awake the more unable I am to sleep because I want to go and chase down any little noise.

I don't think I have any weapons available to me in my room though. I took self defense classes when I was younger, but I might think about having something in my room for security.

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 04:59 PM

I've never taken any self-defense classes, but they would probably help a little bit.

CookieNinja 03-26-2008 05:45 PM

I would be scared, but if I see the owner holding a metal baseball bat, I would probably find something else and go star wars with him. I would also opened the window just in case I can't find anything. That way I could jump out and scream for help. If the owner was just holding the bat for another reason, I would probably be really embarrassed.

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 10:53 PM

If you were a buglar there is no way you would get out the window that you got in! =P

Sadistix_Love 03-26-2008 11:17 PM

Lol, that somewhat sounds like a psychological disorder in a way. xDDD But paranoia, we all have it. =w=;;; I don't have a safety object... You can say my imagination. D: When I start freaking out something like a ghost is around, I pretend in my head that I am a god and no dark creatures can touch me. DDx

Other than that, I am wide open. x_X

Lapin Blanche 03-26-2008 11:23 PM

I used to do that after I watched scary movies. Actually I used to pretend that I was in the group with the scary things/people so that they wouldn't hurt me. Then I came to a sad realisation that I can only be on one side so that wouldn't work.

Living Dead 04-15-2008 01:57 AM

Oh I do not blame you I freak out like that too. And a base ball bat is a good thing to have. Just incase your wrong you can still swing and not kill them unlike a gun. I always have to check things out too at our house.

lizrd356 04-15-2008 05:38 PM

i have a metal bat too it's my brothers. and i think i would hide in the attic, closet, under bed, behind door or couch.and i'd wait till the coast was clear and run out the nearest door to safty because those bats hurt belive me i know my cousin nocked me out once while playing softball.
