I just got lambasted by another user for bringing up a question about post coding, so I'm going to put out a board-wide question instead:

1) Why do you code your posts? Is it for uniqueness, gold gain, you like pretty colors?

2) How did you decide on your post code? This question is particularly for the people who choose size alteration, but everyone can feel free to answer.

3) If you don't code, tell me why...I want to hear that, too. :)

Disclaimer: I'm not saying that anyone should or shouldn't code their posts. My intent is purely curiosity and should be taken at face value as the simple questions that have been posed.

I usually code just to kind of.. get attention, I guess. xD
It's nice to be noticed because of funky colors and such.

I only do it when I'm in a good mood, though so.. yeah..
xP

I usually keep font at average or at ten just because it looks neater.

I mainly do this in order to have a pretty text that matches my avatar, that's all.
It is hard for me to imagine it other way

I'm so keen on it I post like this everywhere :3

At first, it was just for the little gold bonus. I normally don't bother coding my posts on Gaia.
It's become a habit to type "" at the beginning of every post now, so I don't bother stopping myself. Heehee, I know what thread you're talking about. I don't like large font either. If I wanted to change the size, it'd be size 9, but I'm fine with the regular size right now.

^_^; I used to be blind to coding and then why I realised the coding and well ... I feel in love with it. I love making things look good. I used to be a size 9 and colour [I use a colour to match my avatar :3] but then I got a little more brighter so I bolded instead and I thought bolding, sizing and colouring was wrong to do one Menewsha so I'm bold and coloured.

I love setting up threads and coding them though I'm always sure to get a mod to remove the fair amount of colour because of all the coding afterwards :3 Yesterday it was 140 gold because I wanted to make the roleplay look really good.

I might as well reply to my own topic...

I don't code because I consistently forget. I never posted enough on gaia to get involved in coding, and all of the forums I post on normally frown heavily on coding. They usually have multiple skins, for one, and an attitude of "we have a default color for a reason" as well.

I actually like the looks of my posts when I remember to code them to 740a0c, but until someone makes a firefox extension that auto-inserts the code for me, I doubt I'll remember it more than once a day or so. :)

All my posts are font size nine. I just prefer it that way.

I may start coloring them though. For a gold bonus anyway. Dx;

Font size 9 is a really good looking size. If I coded, I'd definitely use it.

I don't usually code my posts, because I always forget. Sometimes I pick a color that matches my avi, but usually it's just default. If I had a toolbar that codes my posts automatically or something, then I would totally go for it, but as it is I'm just too lazy.

This time I'll code my post while I'm thinking of it though.

@Kinmotsu: It is, isn't it? xD

It just looks better a size smaller than what they give you.

I started it when I joined Menewsha. And it was for gold gain. (I followed all the rules, of course)
Then I started to like having text to constantly match my outfit. So I started doing it on Gaia.
On Gaia I had hot pink in my avatar, so I was using that.
Then I accidentally used it on Mene a few times, but I liked the hot pink more than the other color I was using. So I just sort of kept it.
Now I feel like it's my trademark. I mean, I know that no one recognizes me for it or anything, but I like using it. It helps me find my posts easily when I'm scrolling through a thread. I think my posts look weird without it.
No one notices it, but to me, it's me. ^^

Kinmotsu - There IS a firefox extension that inserts your code for you. The tektek toolbar does it. ^^

I never looked into the tektek toolbar because I thought it was gaia specific.

It is. I have it and can't use it for Menewsha :3

But surely the reason you get gold for coding is because you typed it out therefore if there was a toolbar it would lower the value of gold. [Did I put that right?]

One reason I don't code is because I also forget to do it. So half of my posts would have it, the other half wouldn't. Also, I just don't feel a need for making my post any bit special. People can look at my avatar or name and tell it's me, not just my font. xD

I code my posts for the color, not for the gold. Which is why it really bothers me when sites like this make a ton of rules about what codes you can use because they're so concerned about unfair gold gain. I wish every site had Gaia's gold granting system because of this. Luckily I'm content with just changing the color and not changing size and style and a million other things, but I feel like people should be allowed to do those things if that's the way they like to post.

I code my posts because I like this color, and it's the color I started using on other sites, so it just seems to follow me. I like this color, but I'm thinking about changing it, seeing how common it is.

I resize my posts, because they just seem neater that way. I like font size 9 aka small.

So truthfully the really small gold boost, is just a bonus for me. I really think the gold earned from coding is only a marginal increase.

You would think. But I think it works with all forums.
I've heard of a few people here accidentally using large post styles that are suitable for Gaia because the toolbar put them in.

Well I pretty much use this code all over the forum sites I got to. (:
I think it looks pretty, shows I am female if I was using a male ava that is lol.
I use a bigger code on Gaia with random imaging in the coding. But I cant on here or some other sites, so I shortened it down for a nicer more fitting look. (:

I actually post with code because it makes me a little different then other users. I also use this text on Gaia. xP I decided this color by using a certain shade of color from my past avatar's hair color. n.n

I've never done it for the gold, since I don't go crazy with the coding, and it isn't that much more gold.

I started coding my posts in Gaia when I want to easily pick out my roleplay character's text. I do it in Menewsha so I can find my post easily, and because it looks neater.

I chose crimson because it looks good against the background in Menewsha. It is usually darkviolet in Gaia. And of course, because it matches my username.

I chose the size only so my wall of text looks like a smaller wall >.<

I think that smaller text just looks neater. I have an awful habit of rambling too, so I feel a little better if I'm not taking up so much room on the page!

I post in grey because I'm used to forums having light backgrounds and sometimes I find black on white a pain to read after a while. I tend to have monochrome avatars and my Gaia and Menewsha avatars have grey hair so the colour matches my avatars as well. The only issue is (as evident in this post) that I spell grey with an e and I have to remember to put gray in the code!

I think it's great that your name is KatMagenta but you make monochromatic avatars and post in gray.
