Dreamland: Open For Rent

I was chatting with a friend the other day, and the topic meandered to dreams. Now, I'm a rather large fan of the topic. I'm an old fan of NIGHTS Into Dreams (if you know what it is, you're one of the 13 old kids who played it on the Saturn or the 16272 new kids who've seen the recent sequel ;D ) and very interested in psychology, so I've done a bit of reading and thinking on the subject due to those two interests.

However, I've never considered it more than a tableau set forth by my (confused? slightly unhinged at night? working through subconscious difficulties? I haven't discovered/decided) brain at night. She, however, went on at some length about Aborigines, dream planes, ESP and so forth until she'd set up this grand dream plane where people all over the world connect/are sent while they sleep/something. I'd gotten a bit lost by this point I must admit.

It was definitely interesting, though, so I'm tossing out a few questions here, as well.

1: Are dreams important to you?
2: Do you think they actually are another plane of existence/whatever? If not, what are they? Are our brains just really, really bored and unable to play ping pong due to limblessness?

I think some dreams just stem from your subconscious sorting out the events of the day. At least, that's what the logical part of me says.

But then sometimes I'll have very vivid dreams, or things will happen and I swear that it had occurred before in a dream, way before I could have ever known I would be in that situation.

So... those dreams, I can't believe they just come from my subconscious. They have to come from some other place, some other source. I really couldn't say if it's another plane of existence, but that seems like a valid enough explanation.

Oh, and for the first question... I wouldn't say dreams are that important to me on a daily basis, but once in awhile I'll have a dream that really gets to me.

I have trained myself to remember my dreams by having a notebook right next to me and before I even sit up when I wake, writing down what I remember. Over time I seem to be recalling more and more! I do this because I believe that dreams can carry messages from our subconscious - not always, of course, some dreams are simply good fun. Hey, I'll take any advantage I can to better myself and come to understand not only who I am but who I am becoming!

Dreams are very important to me. I love the fact that anything can happen in a dream. People can be anyone they want to be.

I can't really remember mine, though. And the more I try to remember, the more I forget.

I don't think they really lead you to another plain of existance... unless it's a mind plain. I think people's minds just close in, and the thoughts in their brains just circle around... so people dream of it... does that make any sense at all?! ^^;

Dreams are important to me, but I don't think they're another dimension or anything.

I think dreams are conducted of unconscious aspects of your life. Or it could be conscious, but kept to yourself. Or something you want.

I think dreams are the mind's way of sorting things out. We humans have a lot on our minds. There's a lot of information we absorb at school and the memories we have. These are all sorted out as we dream.

I don't think it's another plane. I think it just expresses the person's desires and thoughts. Kind of like the freudian explanation. it's all in the mind.
