Surgery. ><;

This month I'll be having surgery because I have an ovarian mass taking over my gut. I'm kind of scared, but at the same time, I'm sort of... what's the word. It's not so much "excited," but it's something like that. Anyway. I haven't had major surgery like this before. The only other thing was when my wisdom teeth were taken out, but that's a different story. D:

Okay, Menewsha: who here has gotten surgery before, and what kind of surgery was it?

I've never had surgery before, but I do know this kid who has had to have his gall bladder removed.

I've had three surgeries that required actually going to a hospital.

First one was a tonsilectomy when I was little. That wasn't bad, except food was not fun for a while after.

Second one was to repair tendons in my foot. I had dropped a plate and severed them. Not fun. I had to wear a cast.

Third was jaw surgery more recently. Nothing too bad there.

Anyway, I haven't had any issues. -shrugs- All of my surgeons have been really nice, and no complications. But follow the directions they give you for pre and post-op.

I've had surgery but, like yours, it was oral sugerery, 5 minutes absolute maximum. They nummed me up, they cut some flesh (my gums) and took out my supernumery tooth (an extra tooth) it was little, hand shaped, cute, and I kept it.

I've had oral surgery removal and digging up some way ward teeth. The procedure, well I was out for it, hopefully you will be too  There was pain after wards once I got home but the place gave me some pain killer so most of the time the pain didn't bother me.

Hmm. all surgeries I have had were mouth related.
They took out 2 lower baby teeth, an extra tooth between my front teeth. Also my wisdom teeth...jello for a week is awesome. xD

I don't really consider it surgery, but I had laser done on my foot to remove planters warts. DO NOT walk around barefoot in public places...this thing can lay dormant for 3 years 0 3o. Yeah...it really hurt, they numbed it once...but I hate numbing so I went cold turkey even when they turned up the power > 0<

I've never had surgery, but I had an endoscopy once. (They put you out and insert a camera into your GI tract to see what's up.)

About seven years ago, my mom had surgery to shorten one of her bones. Apparently, she'd broken her arm once when she was young and hadn't even known it, and that had caused her bones in that arm to grow oddly, making one grow longer than the other. So, in the surgery, they shaved off part of the bone and put it back together with a metal plate, which she had to have in her arm for like a year. Then she had to get surgery again to have it removed.

Okay, Menewsha: who here has gotten surgery before, and what kind of surgery was it? - From what I remember, I never had surgery. But goodluck with your surgery-ness. :]

Oh my goodness. I'm sorry to hear about you ovarian mass.

I've never had an operation before, but one of my friends frequently had stomach aches since she was small, but her mother always thought it was an excuse to get out of school. Last year, during a check up, the doctor asked her if she was pregnant. She said no, but the doctor kept insisting because he felt something in her uterus. Turns out, her ovary was a tumor the size of two baseballs. HUGE. Which is odd because she is such a small asian girl, you think you would notice a large lump on her belly.

Poor thing. The removed it, but they are telling her they think her other ovary will need to be removed as well. What a thing to tell a 16 year old girl who dreams of having children. :/

Exhilarated? What caused the ovarian mass to grow?

My big sister had a similar operation on all her toes. While she was growing during her teens, the bones in her toes where growing too quick for the skin to keep up, meaning walking was extremely painful, they cut open her foot, trimmed alot of the bones and stuck metal plates and pins in there.

As for myself, Ive had acute appendicitus, so Ive had my appendix out.

And just recently Ive had an ingrown toenail removed. Basically, they took my toenail off my right great toe, cut open into the root of the nail and burned it with chemicals so it wouldnt grow back. Sweet huh?

Surgery can be scary weather its big or small, but dont worry, the people are professionals, your in safe hands, good luck :)

lol as far as I can tell, you'll be asleep the whole time, when you wake up you'll be thirsty, but the painkillers sure are fun! ^o^
I miss those little injections they gave me.. I fell asleep instantly xD unfortunately they had to change them to pills since every time the effect of that drug ended I threw up xP

I've never had a surgery before.
I've never even been to a hospital before, at least a visit that I could remember.
I'm pretty sure I was in the hospital when I was born, but I don't remember ever going to the hospital again.
I never had a sever allergic reaction or a need for surgery or anything.

I've never had surgery before....but I'm really aflraid to maybe have it done on me. D: My sister had it done when she had to get this mole thing on her scalp removed, my dad has had it done, my mom has...(I think) and everyone really close to me has had surgery except myself. XD I guess I'm probably due to have some horrible accident and eventually have surgery performed on me. *afraid*

My boyfriend, was born with a hole in his heart and he had to have open heart surgery when he was 1 year old....I've seen the scar on his chest it's scary, but at the same time it's beautiful because if he didn't have that, he wouldn't be here. :(

It's from his chest area all the way down for several inches, then he also has little puncture marks where there were tubes in him.

I hope everything goes ok with yours and try not to worry about it too much.

I have had a few surgery now.

The first and smallest was the wisdom teeth thing. I had all four cut out at once when I was 15 or 16. Very painful.

The sound thing I had a mass or knot removed from my boob. It took forever to look better too. It was so sore and had to wear special brawls. But it was not cancer thank god.

The third I had a c-section with my daughter. It was a Emergency one. Which means they did not watch how they where cutting and now my stomach is not right. One side is puffer then the other. It hurt horrible and I got sick and had to carry a pillow around. If I needed to cough or sneeze or anything I had to hold the pillow to my tummy. If I did not I could break open the stitches and bleed out everywhere.

wisdom teeth and tonsulesi think i know what you mean about the feelings

Peaches 04-07-2008 09:41 PM

Well it's not going to hurt because you will be asleep!

And don't worry it's not like a gaint dorito flings in and cuts off the light during the surgrey....thiers no such thing as that XD
