I used to be so freaked out about going to college.
Paranoid, scared, sad, nervous. I still feel like a 13 year old and so that made me feel as if I couldn't survive.
But I went to visit the college I'm going to go to, it was accepted students day! It made me totally feel safe. It's a small school, so I don't have to worry about being a number. It's expensive, but an amazing school. Especially in the fact that it's got a liberal arts program to rival RISD, Parson's, Pratt, and FIT. xD (I got put on the wait list to FIT. xD But screw FIT, I am in love with Caldwell. <3)
My uncle also lives nearby. Like down the street.
Now I just can't wait. I used to think that I would never feel comfortable. But now I am just so happy.
I bought a t-shirt and a hoodie, even though they gave me a free t-shirt. xD And my mom bought a t-shirt and hoodie too. o.O xD She never went to college though, so it's okay. She's so funny.
Ah. It just feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. >w<

My friend was so nervous about going off to university, but now that she's there she absolutely loves it. She says that there's a lot of responsibility that goes with it, but she also just loves the freedom alongside it. I don't go until next September, so I don't have any worries about it....well not quite yet.

Oh my... I'm still dead nervous about university. From where my grandma live, there is a close by polytechnic university that accepted me, but I still haven't heard from the other major ones that I applied yet. I'm like dead nervous... but obviously in denial.
If I still don't have any news on the big fishies, then I might as well pay for the polytechnic university. I got into the business administration and engineering degree, but i really doubt it. I did apply in the business sector in the other universities, so it doesn't really matter. They'll sure teach the same stuff. But graduated from a more well know university is better right? so I'm still panicky waiting... - -

Graduating from a well known or prestigious place does tend to look better, but in my opinion it's better to show that you are amazing at what you do and that the school you went to doesn't matter as much. :3

Ah. College jitters xD
When I first walked onto my college campus I felt.. Well. Old. And it made the nervousness go away that much faster. I dropped out of HS when I was 16 due to some personal issues and over all.. Not having anywhere to live. Got the whole.. GED thing and went to college when I was 19 after putting in a few good ol' years of work.
I wasn't much older than the other people there - but man. I felt it. After spending time working and grumbling through real life stuff ( bills, so many of them!! >< ) and seeing all the High School kids come around, acting like.. 15 year olds, still..
Meh. It wasn't as bad as I thought. And really, college gives you a lot more freedom. You'll love it.

Yeah, I felt that exact same way and after visiting I felt so much better. The only difference is that I was trying out for the basketball team too, so it was more pressure. I don't get the butterflies or paranoia after going to one and I've now been to four different places. I'm really excited too, so I say good luck with your school year

I'm excited to go to college too.
1) I'm excited because high school drama is OVER.
2) You can just do your own thing.
3) Life starts.
4) High school is just over.
Ugh! I hear alot of cool things about my future school too, because my brothers girlfriend works at that school.

that's cool, congratulations on finding a nice college and on being able to afford to go to it. That's really nice that you have a family member that lives so close by. College can be a big change so its good you have someone close by to you. Good luck!

I'm worried that no-one will accept me, by that, I mean the universities. I want to go to art college. They just all seem to want people who paint... I do stuff on the computer ._.

I can't wait to get off to university ;3
It's just passing the exams and getting the grades to get in that I'm nervous about D;
I'm not sure whether to tell myself "yeah I'll be ok" or "better put more work in"...
Oh well, what happens happens :)
I'm glad you've found a nice place for yourself ^.^

College is so scary at first - especially because I go to such a large school - but I really enjoy what I've experienced so far. It's more mature than highschool and it's not a lot of useless filler work that highschool has you do. It's work that pertains to what you will do for the rest of your life (or what you intend to do since there are people then never end up using their degree). But either way - it's amazing. But expensive D: It's killing me - money wise - if I didn't have scholarship I wouldn't be able to go. Thank goodness for scholarship money.

Let me tell you....college is a whole new world...It's SO much better than High school...the only thing I would recommend to you is (even if you are REALLY smart) don't spread yourself too thin. If you do you could definitely end up in a lot of trouble. I took 21 credits my freshman year....BIG mistake because then I had like 5 exams around the same time every time I had an exam and tons of papers...plus I worked. I almost had to quit my job. It worked out in the end....but that's the only bit of advice I have for you. Don't do too much. <3
But DO have an amazing time in college, they have been some of the best years of my life thus far. ^^

1)High school drama is NOT OVER
Honestly, It's really not even funny....I'm getting ready to start my junior year and people still act like immature children who don't want to take responsibility. It's all I can do to not beat people in the face. Do you honestly think that all those idiots you know are going to stop being jackasses just because they got a diploma?!
2)You can do your own thing IF you don't have a mountain of papers and assignments looming over you.
3)Life goes on pause. Life in college = not life...more like prison life. It's like a shitty daycare.
4)High school is in fact over BUT college is pretty much high school all over again that you have to pay an outrageous amount of money for.
Sorry, don't get your hopes up.

@Gynne; o__O
Err... you might want to change colleges.
xD Everyone else I know in college loves it.
@Cleocatra; OMG. That's so weird. It was opposite for me. And well, if your portfolio is freaking amazing, they won't care if it's not handpainted. xD
@Crunky; Well I do have to take out loans from the bank. xD But mom is going to help me pay them back. :3

Yeah...maybe I'm just being cynical..but I fail to see how going to another place is going to change things as much as would be required to make my college experience a pleasant one.

College has been a wonderful experience for me. I went into college, shy, withdrawn and not at all confident - and I come out of it more well-adjusted, confident and capable.
Honestly, the benefits you get out of college largely depend on you, the student - if you take advantage of the many opportunities available to you, you'll develop as a person, whether it's through a class, lab work with professors, clubs and activities, and even just meeting many new people. If you work hard in your classes, and allow yourself to move out of your comfort zone and experience new things, college will most likely change your life for the better.
