global warming is somewhat of a natural thing, but I suppose this plus the overpopulation of the earth quickly coming, will show people that the theory of evolution and basically a "dog eat dog" world is real.

I'm not saying that the current climate change is definately not caused by humans, I'm saying that the so-called "scientific evidence" is constantly being re-evaluated and often disproved. I'm simply saying that it isn't as clear-cut as many people seem to think, as there aren't any reliable, non-biased articles out there that state that is a certain scientific fact that humans have anything to do with global warming. The most commitment to this "truth" you'll find in a serious, professional article, is leaning towards a strong probability... and keep in mind that just a few years ago it was "scientific fact" that humans only use less than 10% of their brains, something which we now know to be entirely false. Last year they were saying that it was warmer in Medieval times than it is now, yet now that fact too is up for debate. Scientific "fact" changes from month to month; are you sure that what you believe is correct? It is not debatable that global warming is happening, but the cause of it is most certainly a hot topic (no pun intended) amongst the scientific community. Science is constantly proving itself wrong; that's the beauty of it. So you really shouldn't take something taught to you by a high-school science teacher with a 20 year old teaching qualification to be proven fact. Learn to keep an open mind, and if you are genuinely interested (and not just spouting an opinion because you heard it on TV) there are hundreds of extremely good, informative articles out there debating the human impact on global warming. A few hours spent in the library (for god's sake, don't rely on Wikipedia!) can really change your view on what you so verhmently percieve to be "scientific fact". |
There was a UN agreement written up that stated that humans are a contributing factor in the global warming, not to mention the ozone tear. It was something that needed to be signed by many other countries, some didnt sign it, as they continue to produce things with CFCs.
I dont see how you can say that there is no proof, no viable proof that Humans are a factor in whats happening to the world, when there are contracts, agreements, factual evidence constituted from studies.. I do have an open mind. But I cant believe otherwise when evidence is staring us right in the face. I understand your point, that you dont believe in the evidence or the 'so called' facts. Humans and 10% of their brain really have no standing near the issue of global warming. Of course that is going to change, humans constantly are changing, evolving you cant label what and whatnot the brain and the human evolution can do. Ive done alot of research in my time on global warming and the ozone tear. I did my 8th grade science exit project on it, I took a class called Wildlife Conservation in high school for 3 years where we had people come in and speak to us, where we protested, took part in petitions, not to mention took part in planting trees, cleaning up beaches, etc. I went to an Environmental high school...it was in its name. Not to mention Im in college now and taking part in various environmental clubs, speechs, etc. So if your aiming to insult my knowledge by sullying what Ive been taught and researched, its not very polite because Ive done no such thing to you...neither has anyone else whos responded to your post. |
yes. parts of the world are having bizarre weather and changing seasons. But the question is, is it really "global" if it was global as they say, the entire earth would be warming at the exact same rate. i think we are having a climate change due to increased amounts of CO2 in the air from our consumption of gasoline.

DustyDreamer- I challenge you to find me one, just one, example of un-biased, non-politically motivated, fairly executed and tested, true scientific research that concludes without a doubt that global warming is caused by human beings.
Any previous projects you have done, or classes you have attended are irrelevant. As you should have gathered from my post, the scientific standpoint on this subject is constantly changing, so how can anything you learned even as little as a month ago be relevant? If your information is not current, it is invalid; and even then, it's always debatable. I didn't mean to offend anyone, but it's an inconvenient truth (but a truth never the less) that the things you learned in school (and even a lot of the things you are still learning now, if you are taught using any kind of yearly repeating curriculum) with regards to this subject are almost certainly outdated. I'm not "insulting your knowledge", I'm simply stating fact; scientific 'knowledge' is not static. If you can't come to terms with that, you might as well claim that the earth is flat. |

I do believe that the Earth is getting warmer and going through a stage. However, I also think global warming is blown WAY out of proportion. Scientists have proven that the ozone is re-generating itself. So I dont see why everybody is freaking out over it. The earth is just going through a stage, end of story.
|
...I never said that there was such a document that existed, niether did I NEVER say that humans are the MAIN cause of global warming (As Ive said in my previous posts that the earth does change every thousand years or so. That it does shift in climate changes) ...I dont think you understand that my standpoint is that humans are a contributing factor in the speeding process of global warming...and well the ozone hole is totally man made, but your talking about global warming.
There isnt ANY article written that is not biased in some way, that is not motivated by something. No story is ever written just because it wants to be written. There is always motivation behind it. Especially the scientific field which is funded by the government itself, so they will of course always be politically involved. So showing you an article that does not exist, not only in the scientific field, or any other field, I cannot do. What I can show you are articles that help prove that humans CONTRIBUTE to the factors of global warming. |
Here is my original post on the subject:

If you read it carefully, you will notice that you have just agreed with everything I said. Shocking plot twist! :o |
"it is NOT true (contrary to popular belief) that there is any conclusive proof at all that we, human beings, are causing it, or can do anything about it."
This is what I do not agree with. There is proof that we are causing it, and there is proof that we can do something about it. 12345 |
1. You're now contradicting yourself: "niether did I NEVER say that humans are the MAIN cause of global warming"
2. National Geographic? Ouch! It's hardly academically sound, is it? That article in particular is rather too opinionated to be considered un-biased, even in the way it is written. Come on, you can do better than that! 3. That source is dated July 12, 2007, making it almost a year old, discussing one of our most often studied, and most prevailant issues of the moment. Any findings are out of date; we had published, academically sound findings with regards to global warming in February this year, that I know of- there may have been more since! I'm STILL not saying that global warming is or isn't caused by humans; I'm simply saying that I'm not going to put my faith in a belief that it definately, most assuredly is, as there is still a lack of conclusive evidence from reliable sources... which is basically what you were starting to say two posts ago. |
I believe it.. I really do.. and maybe it will destroy Earth very soon; who knows?
But... one thing that gets me very mad is when my sister is all paranoid about it. Summer is arriving soon, therefore the weather is getting hotter and more humid.. but she won't let me turn on the AC when it's this hot outside and inside. She gets an annoyed look on her face and says, "Just open your windows!" Um... okay, I do.. but after many hours, it still feels the same. I'm probably going to die before global warming destroys everything if my sister goes on like this. There are other ways to save Earth without having to suffer like this. |
All I know is whether is true or not it has to be stopped before the polar bears, sea lions, sea otters, penguins, and other artic critters die because of no ice.
Plus I don't think there is an ice tray big enough to remake the ice needed. |
I don't really know if it is as bad as it has been hyped up to be/all man made, but if we don't do something it will eventually.
|
I'm really not sure but it's possible. x|
I mean, some people just argue about it like ALL day.. but it hasn't been proven yet. :S It's a nice thing to think about though...I mean people are starting to recycle and stop loitering for it. Whether Global warming is real or not, it's a nice opportunity to keep our community clean. xD |
dead
i don't know but if it gets any hotter im going to die
|
Well Right now i Live in Florida and The news said that ice was melting in Anartica or something but they some the same thing when my mom was my age O.o But hey The news always lie to me!!! -.- telling me it's going to be sunny out but then i walk outside and it starts raining.....HARD!!! -.- ruining my freakin outfit...

The debate that is currently going on isn't really whether global warming exists or not. It's pretty much unanimous at this point throughout the scientific community that global warming does exist.
Rather, the debate is about what exactly is causing global warming. Some argue that global warming is developing from solely natural causes, and others argue that global warming is occurring from man-made behavior. However, even if natural causes are a factor in global warming, many scientists have proven through research that global warming is not just the result of natural causes, but also a result from human contributions as well. So, there you have it. |
I belive that global warming is happening, but I don't think it's happening bad enough for us to fret so much over it.color]

I have a hard time believing that we insignificant humans have damaged God's green earth all by ourselves. >_> Just not something I think could be possible. That said, I am for conserving energy and cleaning up all pollution....I just don't think global warming is real, or man-made. The earth goes through climate cycles as it has for thousands of years, and I highly doubt we are going to change it.
|
Whether global warming is caused by human pollution or not, you can't deny that we need to conserve our natural resources and be less wasteful. It can't hurt to be more environmentally friendly. I personally believe humans are fucking up the earth though.
|
I believe it's true, there is alot of stuff we are doing that is not really helping the earth. But what if the world is just changing? Like all the warm areas of the world are becoming cold while all the cold areas are becoming warm. It could be that...but even if it is that there is still global warming.
|
Yes, I strongly agree with Global Warming alot. If we do not change our actions today, we will not be only hurting our world, but we are affecting the lives of our future generations as well.
So I believe that it needs to be dealt with or else we are just going to continue to kill our earth. ^^ |
Keeping this topic up. Now that Earth Day is around the corner, I would like more of Menewshan's opinions about what is happening in our world right now.
|
It seems to me that global warming is happening. I agree that we humans have affected the rate in which the world is heating up. I don't believe however that this means the end of people or such tragedy. The world will take so much then it will right itself. The heating up will climax and then it will turn very cold. The earth has always had these fluctuations. I believe we have affected the when, not what is taking place. I think we just hurried along to rapidly, what was coming in the future anyway.
It will be terrible but I do think the human race can survive, I just think things are going to be very different and a lot of people will have to die while the earth readjusts. One Caveat though, I am no authority on this, it is just my opinion. |
