I eat meat.

I've considered becoming a vegetarian a few times, but then I remember hamburgers. xD *has no resolve when it comes to restraining herself from eating fast food*

I have no opinion or reason to 'deal' with vegetarians. Its something like "Oh, your a vegetarian? That's great, pass the salt." XD

Hi there! If anyone's vegan here.. .. :"D Talk to me.

Quote:

-Who doesn't eat meat?
Me. =)

Quote:

-Who is vegan?
I am vegan. ^^; Vegetarian in 6th grade, turned vegan in beginning of 7th grade. More than half an year since I was vegan. Yes, I'm vegan at a very young age, and I'm just fine. ^^; I have never ever found another vegan in my school. >O<; My family is vegetarian and all of our foods are virtually vegan, and my friends are supportive. =)

Quote:

-If you don't, then why?
Ethical reasons.

Quote:

-How do you deal with meat eaters?
Uhh. Well, I respect them. I'm not nit-picky and yell at 'em "OMGDON'TEATMEATYOUMURDERER!".. unless it was my own family, LOL. xD; But they're vegetarian, anyways.

However, if people start to tease me about it, like waving ham in front of me, I'll seriously ask them to stop.

I rarely EVER talk about veganism around my friends, because I have this fear of telling people. Because maybe they'll start treating me differently. >: So all my friends, except 2, know I'm vegan. C: They're close friends.

Why are you fitting vegetarians, vegans, and PETA activists in one group? You're basically implying that they're all encouraging PETA.

I'm vegan, and I'm not against nor for PETA. Their videos are educational, though.

And for those of you who don't think vegans get enough nutrients, I sure am. I'm one of the fittest in PE, physically and mentally healthy. All the nutrients needed can be found in plant-foods.

I don't like cooked vegetables, aside from Corn and Potatoes.

I don't understand why people are vegetarian because of the way animals are treated. You should protest against the farms and what not. Not eating any meat doesn't do anything to stop them :|
*shrug*

I don't have anything against them, I just don't understand it. I don't see where they're actually doing anything.
As well, a lot of people I know do it for the attention, so... :|;;

Yes, there are-- soy cheese, vegan baked foods (I bake vegan stuff and they taste great), vegan ice cream (to DIE for.. many people enjoy it, be it omni or veggies. :) )... it's not like all that vegetarians eat is SALAD. I despise salads anyways. @[email protected]; They taste pretty nasty. D; (Sorry salad lovers. ;o; )

Indirectly, vegetarians and vegans are saving animals. They -are- doing something.

I do not dislike people that do not eat meat, I feel sorry for them.
Because soon enough, they will become very ill because they are not getting protein that is provided by meat.
My mother was a vegetarian for about 2 weeks. But she soon became ill, and began eating meat again.

Just because /she/ got ill doesn't mean others will. Her body was adjusting to it. That's all I can provide.

My mother has been vegetarian for about 6 years now, and never gotten sick. Heck, our family never visited the doctors for a very long time - even for shots. Our immune system is high.

I've been vegan for half an year. I'm 13 years old, but started when I was 12. I'm very healthy, and very athletic. I'm good at running both long and short distances. My endurance is just fine.

No need to feel sorry for vegetarians, since most of them who sticks to it doesn't get sick. =)

i mean animals eat meat too and its part of a healthy diet. plus becoming vegetarian, you have to worry about proteins and calories and stuff, very unhealthy

Vegetarians don't have to worry about their proteins and calories or nutrients for that matter.

People think it's unhealthy when it's the exact opposite - vegetarianism has many benefits.

I was always interested to know how vegetarians think when they see meat.

Hmm. I think of them as corpses, but they technically are, anyways.

;D

Ah, when I first saw the thread title, I immediately knew it was made by a vegetarian.

Discussions such as these interests me, I like seeing people's views on vegetarianism and vegans. Never knew that a lot were very lenient with 'em. ;D

Anything doing with food or diet interests me. o:

Sweetcooky 07-08-2008 09:42 AM

i do eat meat becouse i like it and becouse its good for you..

mystic kiwi 07-08-2008 09:52 AM

I think that people who say it's unhealthy to be a vegetarian needs to do more research on it before they automatically assume things. I've been a vegetarian for nearly four years and I'm healthier now than I was when I ate meat. Since I stopped eating meat, I gained weight, which was a good thing since I used to be severely under weight. I also don't take any supplements and am just fine. I don't believe you should have to supplement your diet if you eat right to begin with. I never once had any problem with protein intake either and have asked a nutritionist about if what I was eating was okay since I used to be afraid of not getting enough protein.

Sweetcooky 07-08-2008 09:56 AM

Kiwi: If you eat enough Iron Then its ok..
but some poeple dont even know how to be a healty vegetarian..

mystic kiwi 07-08-2008 10:08 AM

I get a lot of crap from people in real life and there's people who posted in this thread saying that it's not healthy. Things like that just annoy me. I mean, no one bothers someone who doesn't eat tomatoes so why should not eating meat bother anyone? I don't care if people eat meat as long as they don't try to force their lifestyle on me.

Madd 07-08-2008 12:19 PM

It's not often at all that I eat meat anymore. Mostly because meat is REALLY unhealthy to eat now with all the growth hormones & other crap they either inject into the animal or force it to eat. And some animals die of probably unnatural causes, but they still process the meat.

And that's why there's always mad cow desease outbreaks =3

Terra517 07-08-2008 02:32 PM

YES!! I definantly eat meat. I really don't like vegetables. Thers only one or two I'll eat but I'd rather have some kind of meat with my meals.
So here are the answers to some questions you asked:

Quote:

Who doesn't eat meat?
Not me. I love meat. Especially hamburgers tend to be my favorite!

Quote:

-Who is vegan?
Nope. But I do have family and a friend or two that is a vegetarian and refuses to eat meat.
One of them even changed immediantly after watching some kind of video in school? I've yet to see it but that must have been pretty graphic or something. But even after seeing such a video I would not be able to change. ^_^

Quote:

-If you don't, then why?
N/A (I like meat)
Quote:

-How do you deal with meat eaters?
n/a (I'm a meat eater)
Quote:

-Meat eaters, how do deal with vegetarians/vegans?
Um...normally. I eat a few things with meat but if they're going ot give me a salad sure I might try. But sometime like peas are a no no!
I don't really care. When I go with my friends and she's a vegetarian I eat what I like adn she eats what she likes. We have to buy different things. Or if I have family coming over mom makes sometimes that we all can eat not including meat. Most people in my family can't eat certain kinds of meat so that makes it easier on me as well.

Quote:

-Meat eaters, do you agree/disagree, like/dislike non-meat eaters?
I like non-meat eaters. I have nothing against their beliefs and so that's all good to me. ^_^'
I....agree somewhat...I mean some animals are tortured to be made for food. But I like meat too much to stop though. Cant' imagine not eating it anymore.

Sakura 07-08-2008 02:35 PM

I don't eat meat. I think it's silly to say you don't if you eat fish and/or chicken though.

I don't care if people eat meat or not, and I'm happy handling/cooking/watching people eat meat. It's just food really. I respect everyone's choices and hope they respect mine.

Angel Naomi 07-08-2008 03:31 PM

Animals were put on this earth to be dominated by humans and used as food. I take full advantage of this. I am a carnivore XD I love my meat.

Yeah, they totally should. @[email protected];

The only reason my mother became one (much earlier than me) was for health reasons. She has heart problems like 6 years ago and even had to go on an ambulance at that time. Never had any ever since she became vegetarian.

Oh, pescetarians? Those are people who eat fish but not any other meat.. as ridiculous as I think it is, I think it's for the people who only do "vegetarianism" for health reasons, not ethical.

But if they do it for ethical reasons and eat fish, highly, highly hypocritical.

Lips.Like.Morphine 07-08-2008 04:45 PM

I eat meat. I went through a period where I thought it was wrong so I was a vegetarian for a while. o= Then I got bored of checking for meat in everything and stopped eventually. But, no I don't have anything against vegans because my uncle is one, and I have nothing against vegetarians either. ^^ They can choose what they want or don't want to put in their mouth. :]

EllipticalHorizons 07-09-2008 12:00 AM

I eat meat, but I feel horrible about it. I love animals, most times more than I love humans, but I also have a healthy understanding of the need for protein in our diets.

[Silhouette] 07-09-2008 07:49 AM

Horizons;

Health? Protein? You're indirectly stating the only way to get sufficient protein is from meat and animal sources. :) Certainly not. Tofu, nuts, beans, and soy are great sources of protein. They are absolutely to die for when used right in recipes. They don't taste good by themselves, which is why is doesn't sound as appetizing as meat itself -- but they are good, the words never do them justice.

rockin904 07-13-2008 09:02 PM

Yup, I just ate some meat. I had a turkey burger.

Sammi 07-13-2008 09:44 PM

I eat meat. I think it's wonderful if people are vegetarians or vegans. It's something I really admire. As a child, I always hated vegetables and never ate any, so naturally now, as a teenager, I am a rather picky eater and only stick to things I like. I only like a handful of veggies, so it would be nearly impossible for me to be a vegetarian. =/

Xyana 07-13-2008 09:59 PM

I eat meat, but I really couldn't careless if I ever did.. I just eat it because it's there..

My best friend if vegan and we never argue about it or anything.. o.O
Another friend of mine is a vegetarian. We don't argue either. O.o

I don't get the whole point of telling someone else what they should and should not eat. It's their life, let them live it.

NeoVisual 07-13-2008 10:16 PM

I eat poultry but that's pretty much it.

Seiki Nova 07-13-2008 11:45 PM

Right now, I eat meat but that's only because if I don't eat it my parents get mad at me. My dad doesn't believe in vegetarianism just like I don't believe in hunting. And I would rather eat it than get yelled at for not. I never eat much though.

I know that whenever I move out and I can afford to be a vegetarian, it's totally what I plan on doing : )

taevitt 07-14-2008 12:37 AM

I'm a vegetarian, lacto-ovo-vegetarian to be precise.
When I was three my mom decided we were going vegetarian. She took me to an aquarium and showed me all the fish, and then asked me if I wanted to eat them. I said, of course, no.
She's since reverted to eating meat, and harasses me about how I'm not getting enough nutritional value. But I think I'm sticking to this.

I've never really had to 'deal' with people who eat meat, because I respect other people's choices, and I expect them to respect mine. I'll have friends who, like, shove their hamburgers in my face or something, but I just laugh with them. Then do the same thing when I have like, broccoli and hummus or something.

Rusalka 07-14-2008 01:35 AM

Considering my love for all animals many are surprised that I do eat meat.

I'd be vegetarian if I could but I can't survive on vegetables/fruits and all that. Most of them I hate the taste of and won't eat at all. I'm a carnivore at heart I suppose and I can't manage to get myself to eat anything else.

I have the utmost respect for those who have managed to do so in a healthy manner. I believe in their ideals I just can't follow form.

Ceyla 07-14-2008 05:13 PM

I eat meat. It's delicious. It's nutritious. It's natural.
I don't think there is any moral reason to go vegan or even vegetarian, because I feel there's no guilt in being an omnivore. As humans, we are designed with a varied diet in mind, one that includes both plants and animals. There's nothing wrong with other animals eating meat, so why with humans? How can we frame a concept of guilt around a lion for eating a gazelle?
I dislike most vegans and vegetarians because their ethics are based on faulty logic and baseless guilt. People who do it for health reasons I'm a bit leery of, as well, since excluding entire food groups seems counterproductive to me. Still, some of my friends have gone vegan, and, although that disappoints me, I'm not turning away from them for it.

What I really hate is when vegans try to make their pets give up meat, too. Dogs are carnivores. Cats are carnivores. The only reason they eat grass is to throw up. Stop feeding them eggplant.

Rin Kanamimi 07-14-2008 05:28 PM

I'm taking a step away from red meat for a while because of all of the factory farms, and it's just too much of a hassle to ask where your beef came from. :/

So I eat chicken and turkey. I'll drink milk, but that's because I need it. xDD

I'm trying to eat more vegeatables. It's healthier and better for you than being on a mostly meat diet.

Callisandra_Naveah 07-15-2008 09:16 PM

Yeah....

If I actually think about it, then I won't want to eat it. But as long as I just focus on the taste and how good it looks instead of what it is, then I'll be fine.

Wickedpan-chan 07-15-2008 11:59 PM
