i've been vegetarian for ten years, and even before then i ate meat very rarely. i've never cared for the flavor and texture of any meat, and i would never support a factory farm by buying their product. i get my nutrients from soy-based foods and vegetarian vitamin/mineral supplements, and i am healthier than a lot of omnivores i know.
i'm cool with people who eat meat, so long as they're not feeding me their redneck "humans are supposed to eat meat because god said so" rhetoric. i never try to push my beliefs on anyone (diet, religion, or otherwise), so i hate when people do it to me. |

I tried to be vegan once or twice I don't understand, "deal" with them? It's only a difference in food choice it doesn't seem like that big of a deal to me. I personally don't care if you eat meat or not, that's you're own personal decision. I think it's your own choice and nobody else's business. I think people should respect other's beliefs and choices though. I knew a girl in middle school who didn't eat meat and hadn't eaten meat for her entire life basically, and some girls, as a joke, put some meat in her food and she got really sick and they just laughed. I don't think that's cool.. I say kudos to all you vegans out there. I wish I could be one I just don't have the discipline, yet. |
I am currently TRYING to become a vegetarian because I hate how the animals are killed/treated.
...It's not working so good T.T But I'm slowly leaning away from meat :3 |
I eat meat, a lot of it. >.<
I have a lot of respect for someone who doesn't eat meat, like my niece. I know I wouldn't have the restraint to not do it. |
I eat meat, along with most everything else that is considered edible. I've been having something of a meat splurge lately that I need to pull out of though.
I used to be upset by the fact that meat comes from living creatures that have to die, but I've learned how to be okay with that. These days my main protest against meat has to do with the treatment of the animals, and the environmental and social consequences of mass production. We really don't need nearly as much protein as we consume - I remember reading in National Geographic that a healthy daily serving of protein (meat and beans) is only about the size of a pack of cards. Then again, the so-called developed countries of the world, and America in particular, consume far too much food in general, but that is a whole other topic. In any case, I have no problem with vegetarians, vegans, or meat eaters. I don't really care what people eat, so long as they do it with conscientiousness. |
Memememe! I eat meat! > w< I don't mind vegetarians but I think vegans are over-doing it (but hey, it is their choice over what they eat). Mostly because it is apart of nature to eat meat but it is also natural to be vegetarian. I only don't get why vegans don't drink milk and such. Even though I am a meat-eater, I also dislike people who take too much. Such as killing animals to the extent where they are endangered or extinct. I mean, other animals may have also gotten extinct because they were at the bottom of the foodchain with low reproduction, but when people take too much from the foodchain it becomes un-natural. Yeah, I'm not sure if I can put it into words correctly. >_< |

"Actually, the animals aren't brutally treated. They're pretty much pampered and well-fed so that they can produce good, healthy meat.
And the caretakers kill them in a short way so it's not as barbaric. x.x Plus, I'd say that when an animal dies, it's kinda fairer for it to be less painful than how other animals kill them. (pouncing them, weakening them, then tearing them apart limb-from-limb while their heart is still beating) x.x" |
Im a vegetarian. Its mainly because I dont agree with factory farms and bad treatment of animals. I tried to go vegan but I got really sick from lack of nourishment so you have to be careful I guess. I still dont eat meat or drink milk but I do eat eggs, but my family has chickens so I know they're treated well.

I don't eat meat. But I could never go vegan.
The general reason I don't eat meat is because I don't like the taste. Even when I did eat meat, I was quite picky about it. Seafood is ucky. I really never liked it. How do I deal with meat eaters? I just do. They have their choices, and I have mine. People should learn to accept others for who they are. I'm not going to let food preference get in the way of a friendship... unless they're a cannibal... then I feel a bit uncomfortable... |
I eat meat, if I don't have some good form of protien like meat I'll start to break down. Seriously. I'll get all jittery and hyper and moany and tired. I eat alot of fish though. I feel sorry about eating cows and other mammals, but I don't really feel any sympathy for eating chicken. I mean I feel sorry for the chicken, but its like I was maybe supposed to eat it. I will not eat rabit though. I've had some rabits that are very close to me and that would be horrible.
How I deal with vegitarians/vegans? My friend was on a no grease vegan diet for a while, meaning carrots and celery for breakfast lubch and dinner. Weirdest thing ever, I continued to tell her that it was unhealthy... Thats the closest thing to vegan I know. How I deal with vegatarians? I make sure they have enough of a balanced diet when I'm around them. A few vegitarians have nearly passed out on me. Though I do think its strange, I try to deal with it. |
I do eat meat, but mostly fish.
I'm not a fan of how animals are treated, but unless everyone stops eating meat, they'll just die for no reason. But I don't mind Vegan/Vegetarians. Their choice. I think Vegans are a little crazy sometimes though, haha. |
I eat meat. I like all kinds of meat. Some better than others of course. Not a huge fan of ham, because it is too salty. But yeah I like meat. I don't see why people who don't eat meat can't get along with people who do. Eat what you like, don't eat what you don't like, or don't want to eat. It's not a hard concept.

i dont like meat but i have low blood iron so evere month i have to eat a small pice i hate it big time because it mean i have to saport the killing of an naimle
|
I do eat meat, but not every day. It's good protein, in any case, and I have low levels of iron, so I sort of need something.
I don't think there's anything wrong with vegetarians or vegans. They can eat what they decide to eat; there's really no reason for any sort of fuss. :D |

I mean, I have nothing against vegetarians, but do all vegetarians think that way ("I dont want to support the killing of animals") ? |
Humans are by nature omnivores. Some people become vegans because of their conscience screwing with themselves. Or, they don't like meat. I for one am a meat eater. However, I guess vegetarians and vegans might be a bit healthier.
|
Also strange to me is the fact that people seem to be okay with eating beef and pork but not meat from other animals. I mean, in some places, frogs and snakes are considered a delicacy. XD jk. Although I've never tried those before, I did have deer meat and donkey meat on different occasions....
|
I'm a vegatarien too, but like Emira I could NEVER go vegan, I get too much of my protien from milk, and cheese and such (though not eggs, technically that eggy couldve been a chick if it wasn't boxed up and shipped away from its mom)
|
I have nothing against vegetarians, if that floats your boat then so be it, however, imo I think it is impossible to be a true vegan? Why? because everything is an animal product. We use animals' manure aka animal product. I know someone whi is vegan and she won't even eat things made with honey because the bees "worked to get the honey." To me it's a bit silly.
Being vegetarian is kind of unhealthy too if you are inexperienced and are the only in your family that does it. It is also dificult if your family is not supportive of you because vegetarian made foods are expensive. But it could work. :) However, I understand vegetarians more than I do vegans. Personally, I love the vegetarian replacement foods (exp: veggie burgers, soy chicken, etc). I'm not a very picky eater. :| |
I don't like how they are treated but I eat meat. I don't eat a lot and I don't really like most kinds of meat anyway.

I've recently become a pescetarian, meaning I eat seafood, but no other form of meat. I've decided to change because it is healthier to eat fish products than no meat at all, but it's hard to phase it back into my diet. I keep forgetting to buy it.
Before then I was a vegetarian, not so much because I felt bad about where my meat was coming from (though I did, just not enough to stop eating it), but because it slowly had started making me very, very ill. I still don't know what, exactly, my body had the reaction to, but I know it's not in seafood, there's a chance it might not be in poultry, but I never liked that anyway, and it is definitely in red meat and lard. I accidentally ate corn chips and a burrito fried in lard at a Mexican restaurant a few years ago and was nearly put out for a week. I have always eaten milk and egg products, though, as well as nuts, beans, and the fake meats made from them, and have never had a problem with protein. Granted, I have been borderline anemic, but that's more to do with my body type than any diet choices I've made. Quote:

I think some people believe that eating beef and pork is more acceptable since there are farms to keep the numbers of sources even. But, I once tried Kangaroo. It tasted like steak. ._.; I've never had any other 'un-usual' meat. |
and just to add yet another thing, it would be awful if we stopped eating meat as a whole (and by that I mean everyone litterally stop eating meat). Most of the animals we eat are domesticated and couldn't really fend for them selves from predators. Before long the cow could be endangered because we let them all lose. this would take many many many years but it would still be a catastrophe. In my religon it is suggested that in the future we are all vegetarian once we figure out all the issues of supplements and protein replacements as well as how to fix our animal problems of overpopulation/extinction.
I just don't think society is ready to be vegetarian yet. |
