Our school started Colour Guard Tryouts last week, and my frriend is trying out again. Well we're best friends, and becuase of Colour Guard we hardly had any time to spend together. So I decided to try out as well. My friend was watching me practice and today as we were practicing together she taught me four things that I learned to do almost right away. Then she gets this frustrated look and tells me I suck becuase I have Natural talent for colour gard! Now, I didn't think I was all that good, but she keeps saying I am. My topic of discussion for everyone is: Has anyone ever told you you had any natural talent?

I think if there's anything I've ever had a "natural talent" for, it's playing the guitar. Unfortunately, I SUCK at reading music and/or tablature in real time, so I need a lot of work on that, or I need to learn a song fully BEFORE I can play it well...but actually PLAYING when I know what I'm trying to play?

I've been at this, as SERIOUSLY as I should be, for about three weeks. I sound like I've been at it for a year. And I'm not the only one who thinks it.

The fact that it's THIS makes me laugh. My old "natural talent" used to be in soccer. But I had to quit because of an accident. I find the fact that I went on to play the guitar to be absolutely HILARIOUS.

Cookie for you if you know why.

I cannot guess why, but I think that's cool. I used to have a friend who was incredible at sports, but he switched to art one day and it was like so natural for him I was jealous. He was so good at pottery too. I miss him....

I've been told I have natural talent for modeling and acting, unfortunately for me it caused me losing a friend. :/ I got a part she wanted and ended up crying all over the set and making everyone try to make me feel bad and try to make me give her the part. Unfortunately, I'm a "cold hearted person" and a "horrible friend" according to them for not giving her the part. So, the really bad part of that incident is I lost a friend who was the one who asked me to try out with her so she wouldn't be alone and the good part of that is I found a new hobby I'm good at. It was unfair but life's unfair and I just need to get over that. T_T;; I still feel a bit guilty about it no matter what my friends tell me.

But if you're good at it and you like it, then you shouldn't feel too bad. There will be other plays. I'm sorry you lost your friend though...

Ehh, I know. -_-;; I just have this horrible thing with people hate me that makes me very upset. I try my best not to audition for the same plays she does just to keep drama out of it.

Haha...it took me several years after having to leave sports before I found anything I was particularly good at again. I was pathetic, really...I mean, there have been some things I've been good at since, but never really had the patience to be PRODUCTIVE with them (for instance, jewelry making).

I find it to be nothing short of a miracle that I found the inspiration, time, and patience to try playing the guitar...and found out that I can do it pretty damn well.

Oddly enough, I was terrible at it the first time I tried. It wasn't until I broke something in my left hand that I found the inspiration to try again...when that healed, I experimented a little with my old right-handed guitar, but playing the frets with that hand...hurt...very badly. So I bought a left-handed guitar (because given my history with similar injuries, it's not going away for several years if at all), received it on April 18, and ever since then...that thing has pretty much been my LIFE. I can't believe I've gotten so good at playing it so FAST. o_o

@Loubie: I think your friend was being awfully selfish. I mean...if you got the part, it's not YOUR fault. They gave it to you for a reason, not giving it up didn't make you a "horrible friend." It was just one play anyway, so honestly? If she thinks that's worth giving up a friendship over, SHE'S the horrible friend. If she was trying to get everyone to guilt you into giving it to her, SHE'S the cold-hearted person. Real friends don't do that. Ever.

You'll find new friends who appreciate you a lot more than that, I can promise you.

Several people have told me I have a natural talent for playing violin/fiddle. I know I love playing it, that's for sure. It's always been my favorite instrument. But I don't think I have near as much natural talent at is as a lot of people.

oh and by the way, what's Color Guard?

It combines dance and flag choreography. Our colour gaurd works with our band to form the "Falcon Regiment" which performs at half time. I think the whole colour gaurd thing started in the military though. There's alot of military terms.

Swimming.

I suck athletically.

Except in swimming.

I've been swimming since way before I could walk (and I still haven't mastered walking...I fall a lot).

I just learned the butterfly recently and I'm already pretty good at it. The swim instructor that teaches at the pool I go to (my dad's my instructor, but the other guy helps me sometimes) is a bit surprised that other than freestyle, I've only been swimming for like a month.

I want to be on the team next year, and they keep less than half the girls that try out so...

I hope so. If I don't, it's no big deal to me. I have a lot of hard classes for next year, so whatever. And it's only my freshman year (next year) so I have 3 more to improve.

I'm just annoyed that my (VERY CREEPY) English teacher is the boy's coach, and since there are so few pools we share a church pool with a rival school, I'm pretty sure the boys and girls teams practice together. Meaning I'll see him.

And whenever I talk to my friend in my English class about swimming (she has a natural ability for the breast stroke but won't try the others nor wear a bathing suit in public), he tells me that it's really competitive and I probably won't make it. Like, has he ever seen me swim? Who's he to tell me I'm not good enough? And he won't even be my coach!

If he's at your tryout, you should show him up! Let him see how good you are. ^^ Then be like "BAM!" All up in his face! *snaps fingers and swivels head*

That's my plan. I hate him so much sometimes.

(Unrelated story here).

I had him check over my book report the day before it was due so I could make improvements, then when he's grading it he's pointing out all my errors, and I was like "AND YOU COULDN'T TELL ME THIS EARLIER??"

But he didn't take any points ofd.

And the clock in his room was stuck at 3:59 and 55 seconds for like 3 days (then yesterday it was at 7:59 and 55 seconds...so they got it working for 3 hours). He told us we could have our phones to see the time as long as we weren't texting, and he took mine (with 2 minutes left in the period...).

It's not like we do anything in English.

oh ok. Yea I think we did something like that when I was in Pathfinders. (which is a christian military type thing in case you don't know)
that does sounds like a kool thing to have a natural talent for! I know I sucked at it.

I have a natural gift for Sarcasm. *Not being sarcastic here*

I can't help it. Someone will say something, and some smartass comment just pops out of my mouth. It's like a bunch of Dennis Leary's writers and half the guys from SNL are living in my head and coming up with funny shit for me to say. Also, I've been told I'm a good writer.

I'm not sure...but I think it might be drawing.
I'm not the best artist ever, not even close. x33
But when I do draw, it actually turns out well, and I don't practice everyday either.

My dad is an outstanding artist! :' D So it's no doubt where I got it from.
