Let's Talk Soap
What scent is the soap that you use to shower with? Do you prefer a bar or gel? Is it one of a set or a certain line like Bath and Body Works Apple and do you have matching products for it like lotions or body sprays? Do you like your soaps to be really strongly scented or more girly or maybe more mild?
In my shower right now, I have Bath and Body Works Coconut Lime Verbena shower gel and some random gift set soap my aunt gave me for Christmas. I use shower gel because bar soap always seems to dry my skin up. I have the lotion to match the soap, but the strong scent of it irritates my skin, especially my dry to the point of raw elbows, so I gave it to my mom. I like a stronger scent to my soap, but I don't want it to be too flowery and girly. I like the citrusy scents and things that are a little, well, not more manly, but a bit muskier I suppose. I just don't want to walk around smelling like an allergy attack ^_^;; |
AXE body spray and shower gel for me ^^
|
I use body wash. The Original Source - Lemon & Tea Tree.
I try to avoid soap, as it dries my skin out badly. If I do have to use soap, I go for the mild and almost scentless ones, as I'm not big on flowery things or strong scents. |
I tend to use what is left in the bathroom ... Everyone always uses mine so I just have to do with whatever hasn't run out yet, usually the stuff that doesn't smell nice or smells like an old english garden
|
My brother and I would never use each other's soap. He claims mine is girly, even though it's not that girly since it's lime. And I say his soap smells like manwhore XD
|
I don't use anything scented. Just plain body wash. I have a really good sense of smell, so most of that scented stuff just gives me a bad headache.
It was terrible when I was in school. It seemed like every other girl had NO sense of smell at all (or just really bad BO XD), because they just drenched themselves with scented soaps, sprays, and perfumes that they felt they had to re-apply on the hour. I'd come home every day with a pounding headache. There was this one girl in my astronomy class in college that I still remember. I sat ten feet away from her, and the smell of her perfume was still overwhelming. I always wondered what the heck she was trying to cover up. XD |
I have Imperial Leather Japanese spa shower cream, it smells so nice it's got Green tea, rice milk & Jasmine in it. I have the wake up one as well that's meant to wake you up because it's citrusy.
|
People get really self-conscious about their smell. It's embarrassing to think that someone might actually smell your pits. Or if you're a girl, you might be paranoid about a menstrual smell. Of course, it's probably all in your head but when you're young and have so many issues with your looks and your social life etc, that can be a terrifying thought that you might smell. Ny friend in high school asked me once if I could smell her and explained how she combined three scents to make sure that she never smelled. =/
I only have my soap and my perfume that smells. I use two spritzes of perfume because I hate walking into a room and it smells like one person who bathed in perfume. Strong perfumes make me ill. x_x |
I hate when someone walks past you and you can still smell them from half way down the road. :XP
|
I don't have a preference in brand, but I prefer bars, because they seem to clean better than liquid.
As for smells, I prefer floral or soapy ones. I hate fruity, sweet (as in things like vanilla and sugar), and bitter. I don't care how strong the smell is, as long as it's floral or soapy. As for lotions, I just use baby lotion on my body, and Clean and Clear moisturizer on my face. I have a men's cologne, a vanilla-rose perfume, and a floral perfume for sprays. |
I prefer gel soap. And my favorite one is a peachy smelling on. I dunno what brand it is anymore. We ran out and couldnt find it again D:
|
I honestly don't know. I love lime grass soap bars, but I pretty much use anytime of nice smelling shower gel.
|
I've come to hate soap.
It seems like no matter which kind I use, I don't feel as clean as I'd like to. So... grrr! |
I use both bar and gel soaps. I'm not really picking on the type, but I only really like citrus scents or non scented. Flowery scents make me sneeze and always reminds me of being stuck with the old ladies on the bus. XD I also don't like old spice and quite a few axe scents. I find them way to strong and when ever a guy walks buy wearing that stuff I want to gag.
I don't use sets. I pretty much use what ever I can get my hands on for shampoo and conditioner. Though usually its anti-dandruff and frizz free types. |
Haha, I have Bath and Body Works, but it's the lotion. I think I have mint and...vanilla? Anyway, just I use dove soap, the bar variety. (boring, yes xD) But one time I bought this Asian liquid soap that came in this HUGE bottle; I think it was apple scented?
|
I didn't think I had any real big preference when it came to soap. But pondering it now I guess I do. I prefer bar soaps like Irish Spring or Dial or stuff along the same line. The fresh scent pleases me. *inhales* Ahhh... Axe and the like are alright, but if I want to smell like cologne or body spray i'll use the real thing.

Kiriya - I feel for you! I have this awesome peach and vanilla body spray and once it runs out, it's out forever because they don't make it anymore! T_T
Sutebu - Maybe you need a good exfoliating scrubby? I know that after scratching myself up with my scrubby, I feel much cleaner XD Captain Howdy - I don't like the scent of dial. The liquid hand soap drives me nuts cause it's yucky smelling. But, clear Softsoap hand soap is worse x_x |
It's possible.
I think my body just hates me and likes generating filth faster than I can clean it off. |

Pomegranite or whatever flavour the Hello Kitty body scrub I have is. [I personally say it smells like eggplant, Dizzi says it smells like toast]. Bar or gel don't really matter to me, the problem with the bar is it's slippery and if you're a complete and utter clumzaz0r like myself you'll trip on it and fall. With the gel if you're showering and you put it on a wet/slippery surface it can fall and hit you in the face or it can shoot you in the eye with soap. Yes, Loubie has much drama in her bathroom. Usually when I take a really long bath I like to use the soap bar and when I'm in the shower the gel. I also do like the Axe body gel for men. [/steals it from boyfriend all the time] e _ e;

Soap.
I love Bath And Body Works stuff! Ever since discovering them many years ago, that is all I have used. I will never go back to plain bar soap from the grocery store ever again. XD I buy all sorts of different things from that store. Mostly shower gel though. That is what I use the most. But I've also bought a myriad of other things like hand soap, instant sanitizer stuff to wash hands without water, body spray, lotion, face glitter, nail polish, lip gloss, shampoo, etc. I love all their scents and I love when they come out with new ones to try as well. I was just in there today to buy my friend a gift card for her birthday and I had to stop and smell several new scents I'd not seen there before. I also wanted to get a pineapple flavored lip gloss but it was $6.00. :( A bit more than I'd like to pay for a small tube of lip gloss. I might go back and get it if they have a sale though. Currently in my shower I have been using a gel called Sherbet Shake which is all glittery and pretty, and also Beyond Berry. And for hand soap in my bathroom I have Wild Honeysuckle.
|
When it comes to bar soaps, I like Dove. It smells nice. x3
As for body washes...mm, I have some stuff given to me from Bath and Body Works. Scents have to be really light for me to tolerate them. I love Pink Grapefruit...*tears up because they discontinued the scent* T^T |
I'm not sure actually... o__o I know it's a Dove cream body wash... I think it might be... Vanilla and something scented. I know my shampoo is some kind of citrus scent though. =3 And it's orange. Lol.
|
My grandmother gave me some soaps from Bath and Body Works and one of them was Rice Flower and Shea. It's a very light scent that reminds me a bit of a linen spray type scent. It might be worth a sniff for those who can't deal with stronger scents.
|
I don't always use shower gel, as it doesn't get on with my skin, but recently i've been using Imperial Lather, Foam Shower Wash. That's quite good, and amusing too.
As for normal soap, i don't use that at all. |
