Well, GD, it's me and money issues again!

Have you ever found yourself REALLY CLOSE to being able to afford something you wanted...only to have yourself set back when you're ALMOST THERE? Either for lack of self-control, or because of an emergency...I'm sure it's happened to most of us.

You see, I was doing REALLY well about saving up for my new guitar. I was only about $100 away. I had about $500 of $600 saved...I'm ALMOST THERE, really!

But then a little emergency with my ear piercings came up.

See, at one of the concerts I recently went to...I was knocked down before the first song was over. And my shirt caught on the week-old piercings in my left ear. Which I stupidly had done with a GUN (which I now wish were illegal, but that's a rant I'll go off on later). And now they seem to be getting infected or at least severely irritated as a result...and the type of earrings I have don't allow for drainage. All sources I've checked have told me that this is one of those rare emergency cases where changing them early is needed (or else they might become abscessed if everything is trapped in there for much longer...*shudders at the thought*)...problem is, I don't HAVE anything better to change to. I have to buy something.

Well, I found some good earrings, that's the good news. The bad news is that I have so many holes that need this emergency change that if I buy this now...it's gonna run me nearly $100. T_T

I have to do SOMETHING as soon as possible, though - it's gonna be a week before I can see a competent doctor. >.<; I need to get rush shipping, because I need it here as fast as it can come - sadly, this isn't something I can buy in this town; I HAVE to get it online.

I feel like I'm NEVER gonna get my new guitar. T_T

To make this situation even better? I'm...between jobs. I do HAVE a job I can start at whenever I'm ready...BUT, I aggravated my old knee injury while I was on vacation. Which is IRONIC AS FUCK, considering how it initially was injured and what I was doing when I aggravated it...it's hilarious, really. But the timing sucks. It means I can't just go back to work; I have to get it dealt with before I can start making money again.

I want that guitar SO FREAKING BAD. But these damn setbacks are just evil. T_T

Has anyone else ever been through a setback like this? Or perhaps when you were saving for one thing, something else caught your eye and you went and bought that (and may or may not have regretted it)? Virtual currencies count too - you can tell me about your experiences with items here or on another similar site, if you'd like.

Share your stories, please. Make me feel a little better about this. XD

I want a camera really badly, so I know how you feel.

I actually probably could afford it, but I'm too nervous to spend the money, 'cause I'm afraid that once I do, something'll come up and I'll need the money.

I'm reaaaally horrible with trying to save money... T^T Particularly how I'm suppose to be saving for Tokyo for school this fall and technically I'm like... $800 in debt. X__x And waiting on approval for a student loan and maybe a grant no less.

If they would at least let me know if I've been approved for the grant/loan my life would be a lot easier. But it's so hard with how much things cost these days. Like how I avoid filling gas for as long as possible until it's almost empty and I'm forced to give in. Or all the lovely things I want to buy but shouldn't let myself get.

MUST... RESIST...!!! Cannot let myself get further in debt! x__x

Anyway, I hope that made you feel better lol.

Right now I need money to pay off some fees at my high school before graduation. I owe $15 for each AP exam I took, and I took three! Then I owe $10 for a shirt I didn't even order, but the club sponser says I did order one. I hate her, and I hope she falls in a hole or something.

I can't say I've ever been close to buying something I wanted. I'm bone broke.... and will continue to be as such as long as I live with my parents...

Online with pixelated moneyz I am doomed. I can't have anything over 450g without spending it all on useless crap.

As for money usually when I only need a few more pounds I end up blowing it all on something else I'd most likely never use in my life. Example? My DS. I've only used it twice, I'd say. That was to play Animal Crossing and after I got bored with that I tossed it under my bed to collect dust. I could've spent the money toward something more useful.

I currently owe my friend £10. I'm not allowed to have money anymore according to my mom so I'm currently in menial debt. ; A;

Times like this are when you sit back and analyze things going on in your life at the moment that require money. Decide which ones are needs and which ones are just things you want. Knock out all of the things that are needs first, then focus on the things that you -want- (unless you have no guitar and you have a gig coming up, a new guitar is always going to be a want no matter how long you've been saving up for it)

Hey there, that guitar is always going to be there who knows in a few months time there might be a better guitar meant solely for you. Or a gig that is so fecking awesome but you find its the other side of the country and you won't need to worry about it because you have the money saved up. And in fantasy dream land " that fecking awesome musician might give you his/her guitar" lol.. ok that's unrealistic, but keep on at it its great your saving up for something you love xxxxx What guitar is it do you have any pictures? Are you having a Wayne's world moment...

Man, that sucks. I know I'm horrible with money.

I'll ahve a good amount of money and be close to my goal item, and I'll say, "Ahh, It'll be a long time before I get the rest of the money, so I'll spend a little." Then the next day, I will come upon the EXACT AMOUNT OF MONEY I NEEDED. It sucks.

And the things I want are also things I need... camera, scanner, better photoshop, paint, watercolors, brushes, canvas, good markers.... all the things I need, that I can't get.

I've never had that kind of problem. I'm one of those people who saves, saves, and saves. My money goals are also a little different from most. At the moment I want to go through college without needing any loans(I pretty much have all of it paid already). Also, the item I want to buy the most at the moment is a house. XD I'm a little young to think about getting a house, but its the one item I'm truly saving up for.

@Sutebu: Yeah, I know what you mean. D: I COULD technically have bought my guitar the minute I saw it...but I like to have at least $2000 in savings as long as I'm living at home, and I want to get the things I really want and get at least 6 months worth of living money on reserve before I move out. Luckily, I don't think it'll take TOO long...

@Mekoness: God damn. D: :hug: I hate how life is so EXPENSIVE, especially at the stage where you're gonna have the hardest time dealing with it! >.<;
Anyway, good luck with everything. Hopefully you'll get the message that you've been approved soon. :yes:

@lolbutteredtoast: ...for some reason your username makes me laugh. I love it. XD
*ahem* Anyway, why would the club sponsor say you ordered something you didn't? That...that IS illegal. o_O;; But...whatever happens, I wish you luck on getting the whole thing dealt with...and I hope the shirt at least fits and looks good. :sweat:

@Hyena: I know that feeling too. ._. That's how I always felt until I got my first real job.

@Dystopia: XD Makes me thankful I do all my art whoring on Gaia. I have a ton of stuff on there that I never use.

@Hime: I'm usually the opposite, unless there's been a store update or something. XD Usually I'll hesitate to buy something I've been questing, because I'm so used to having gold that it'll feel really weird to be broke again. D:
Luckily, I can't think of anything I bought with real money that I just stopped using. Probably because the fact that I bought it with a large amount of real money made me want to use it more. XD

@ElendarSilvermoon: Yeah, that's what I always do. But sometimes...something will just look so amazing and shiny and awesome to me that I'll just want it SO VERY BADLY...and it's not fun to KNOW I have to wait x long to get y amount and make sure I still have z in savings...it's frustrating. And then to have something like this come up...
Oh, and I realized today that I have to downsize my lip ring this week for the sake of my teeth and for proper healing. That's another $30 for the one I want. XD;
But luckily, I got my last paychecks from my old job...and that was JUST enough to cover everything I need right now AND the one big thing I want. :D

@MayuSatomiJuRei: Sadly, the fantasy world thing is impossible for me, because I play left-handed...and all my favorite guitarists play right-handed. D: Oh well, it's not like it was really possible anyway. XD But anyway...this one is TAUNTING me, I swear. I heard the right-handed model being played last week...OH MY GOD. It has such a distinctive and AMAZING sound...it made me want it even MORE. And I had to hear this on the vacation that MADE it so I couldn't afford it without going below my savings minimum in the first place. That was so unfair. XD
This is the one I'm looking at. I found the right-handed version of a similar model first, and I could have bought that one that day...it cost less than HALF as much as the lefty. ;-; It was on sale. But it was a shallow bowl model...the mid-depth will sound a lot better for my style, anyway. :sweat: Still, the price difference...freaked me out. D:

@KittyTheKat: Well, pets do always come first. :yes:

@Lantern Fish: AGH. DX I've done that before...I finally got of that because I realized Murphy's Law is ALWAYS a bitch like that.
The good thing about art supplies is that if you know what you're doing with them, they can even help you get a little more money. So that's a good reason to get them.

@rillaz: I'm KINDA the same...I'm right now trying to get the expensive things I won't be able to afford later BEFORE I move out, so I can have that when I want it but still be saving for the REALLY big things later (yes, including a house, even though I'm only 19) and have enough for emergencies and all that. Right now, while I still have rent and everything paid for me, I figure it's a good time to get everything I want so desperately...BEFORE my horrible impatience ends up screwing me over once I've moved out.
Good luck! I chose to get a loan for college for the sake of getting up my credit score, myself...now I'm pondering whether or not I should buy my guitar on credit when I know I can pay it off without a problem. But then again...I'm gonna want to have it before next weekend (acoustic jam session for all musicians in town, and I don't have an acoustic! D:), and I REALLY doubt I'll be able to get a credit card before then. :sweat:

Those last paychecks from former jobs always seem to come through in the end. My last paycheck from mcdonalds saved my ass on rent and phone bill, and gave enough to have leftovers for groceries.

:3 Well, hopefully I'd make money. I'm a lot better at traditional work then i am at digital work, and I do hope to make a career out of this. Become an art teacher, then do a little freelancing on the side.

D: and Murphy's Law sucks. Why is it all the horrible laws are true? Like Godwin's Law.

There's nothing too expensive I really want to buy right now, except for maybe a new digicam, which I can afford but I'm too lazy to go out and buy, and maybe a BJD... though I don't think I'll ever be able to bring myself to actually get one cause I'm too much of a money saving whore. I love my money. :lol:

So far I have more than $5000 saved up and I already have a credit card with excellent credit for getting my house's mortgage in the future (or maybe an apartment first). XD I've already started a retirement fund in which I place in $50 a month. And I too am only 19 years old.

They are all lefties of course not all of them are guitarists, I envy left handed people I believe it's because they try harder they end up being more awesome at art and music! :D So you'll be fantatsic at playing if you keep at it! I wanted to play the guitar and my dad got me an acoustic at first and I played a few chords and then he got ahead of himself and brought me a fender and an amp and an effects pedal pretty standard cheap ones. I really enjoyed it but I have a habit of getting bored of things quickly I'm terrible at maths and somehow this is sussposed to effect things like reading music which I can barely do. I guess it's just one of those things.

@FullMetal: Once I move back home, I'll probably start spending money like crazy~ >__>

It's right now that I'm away from home at school that I can't spend anything, 'cause I have no way of making it back, really.

And I've already spent more than I should have recently, buying an Xbox and such.

I've been around $100 off from being able to visit my husband for a few months now. We both have bills to pay so it's hard for us to save up the nearly $1000 for the plane tickets since right now, neither one of us makes that much. It's just frustrating when we nearly have enough then one of us has a bill to pay that sets us back that 100.
