What's in your name, fellow Menewshans?
For me, I chose the name Lantern Fish becasue I'm a fan of aquatic creatures, such as angler fish. But instead of just being 'Angler Fish' I chose Lantern because I liked the image of it: A big, scary fish with a lantern to light it's way along the depths of the ocean.
My real name is Erica, and my middle name is Elizabeth. My first name means "Ever Ruler", and my middle name means "my God is an oath". I suppose my names suit me, since I'm pretty stubborn and I don't quit easily. My morals are also hard to break, so if you try to get me to do somethnig i don't want to do, you're not going to win. :3
SPOONS:
+Was there a special reason you chose it? Symbolic, funny, cute, or cool?
+What about your real name? The meaning? Like/Dislike? If you could have a different name, what would it be and why
+Do you think your real or online alias suits you? Why or why not?
Also, if you aren't sure what your name means the site www.behindthename.com is a pretty reliable source!

Enzeru is Japanese for angel. I choose it because I totally like anime and I'm a nice person on a normal day.
I never tell my real name because I just don't like it and prefer my online name.
Definitely online. I did the numerology on it.

I like your avi >w< btw lol
Hmmm ... My name happened to come about when I was joining Gaiaonline. I was currently watching Ed, Edd, and Eddy and Ed said "buttered toast". I "lol" in reaction, and said "Hey, why not LOLButteredToast!" So from that moment on I used that username for everything, like e-mail, other RPG forum accounts and school online related things.
My real name is Marie. I am in no way French lol My name means a sea of bitterness. That's not actually true, I'm happy most of the time, but if I'm provoked I will get angry XD
I think my username suits me because it's funny, and I do actually like toast minus the butter (fattening!) I prefer fat free strawberrry cream cheese and sugar free strawberry preservatives on my toast. Hehehe, "my toast" sounds funny XD

Well, I came to choose the name 'Rillaz' because I wanted a a different online name. For about the past 5 years I've been using the same nickname so I figured it would be time for a change. I decided to call myself Rillaz after the band Gorillaz because I just so happened to be listening to them when I was trying to come up with the new name. XD My dad calls me a monkey so it fits me.. sort of
My real name, Jacqueline, means Supplanter... though I don't really know what supplanter actually means.

Liverpool reminds me of my name, Livvie. Then Glasgow is only one letter different from my last name. So, I basically created my real name using city names.

:3 Thanks for the replies! It's cool to hear everyone's names.
@Enzeru: That's a pretty neat name. I don't normally see that kind of letter combination in Japanese words, so it was kind of surprising.
I don't like my name, either. I don't mind it, but it never really felt like MY name.
Is there a name you wish you had? (Aside from Enzeru, maybe?)
@lolbutteredtoast: Y'know, I THOUGHT that's where you got that name from! Marie is a nice name, even if it has a melancholy meaning.
@rillaz: That's pretty unique! For me, I mull over a name for days, but once i think of something I like, I use it EVERYWHERE. On gaia I had like 10 different accounts, because I kept getting new name ideas. I'm only not doing it on mene because you're only allowed to have 1 mule and it's so hard to earn money on an account!
@Liverpool Glasgow: Livvie? That's really cute! I almost got named Olivia, and that would've probably been my nickname. You can't shorten Erica (Unless you want a gutteral, grunt-like sound or a boy's name) so I've never had a nickname. :<
@C0NTRA: LOL, my friend loves contra, but I've never played it myself.

My real name is not even close to Clair. But, it's simple and nice like Clair is. It means flower.

@[Puppet]: An English and Chinese name? That's pretty cool, almost like you live a double life! I dig both the names, they're different in the good way.
@Clair Voyant: LOL, I always smile everytime I see your name. It always struck me as being clever.
@KittytheKat: If you're a ninja cat on your way to the moon, then I'll be the demon fish queen sent out to stop you! >:U
LOL, I'll be the Queen Beryl to your Sailor Moon.

Morien
*^_^*
|
|

05-24-2008, 10:57 PM
I chose Morien as my penname/ nickname a long time ago. I originally picked it because of a Moto Hagio short story that used a character named Mori. I just loved the sound of it, and then I got excited when I found out that a certain kanji that is read "mori" means "forest." I love trees, so Mori stuck with me.
Morien is more English-ized (if this is even a word), and I used the "-en" because it sounded almost elfin. I seem to remember it actually being a name, but I haven't been able to find it.
The full penname is actually Morien Alexander-- and Alexander is there for Alexander the Great. Because I love him.
My real name is Deborah. I don't like it because my parents only use my full name when I'm in trouble! But it's okay if that's what my grandparents want to call me. :3 It means "the bee" in Hebrew, which I like. Bees are cute, and they make honey! Though I tend to go by D or another nickname.
I definitely think Mori suits me. I'm not sure how to explain how I'm like a forest.
My only problem with using "Mori" for my nickname is that people will automatically say-- "Oh like Mori-senpai from Ouran." As much as I love Mori-senpai, my name is not taken from there. T_T

@Morien: LOL, that's funny, because until I reached the end I was EXACTLY thinking "Like Mori-senpai from Ouran"!
Mori is a very cute name, and I usually think of Ouran or the... second?... ending theme from Inu-Yasha. Even fi I don't liek the show anymore, I still like the ending themes.
The fun thing about Mori is it's one of those names that could be easily assimilated into Western culture without seemign too out of place.
And, I think the right word is anglicized. :3

Some of my friends call me 'rina and I like how it sounds, so I decided to turn it into my internet handle. :3 It was a bit too short for me though, so I chose the 'ee' instead of the 'i'.
My real name has two possible meanings, one is 'true' and the other is 'shy'. Unfortunately, nomen est omen in my case. :\ But at least I'm not extremely shy anymore~.

@Reena: Another cute name! Is your full name Katrina, or something?
Ha, when I was little, i was a bossy, selfish little terror. I acted like a spoiled little princess, so I suppose "Ever Ruler" was fairly accurate then. Nomen est omen? Never heard that saying before, I'll have to remember it.

Verena? I never would've guessed. :O That's really unique. And Latin class sounds pretty neat. We don't have that offered at my school, I guess not enough people are interested in something like that.

Aaahh.... lol It's such a common reaction! That's okay, though. maybe I should learn to write the forest kanji and leave it in my signature so that people don't confuse me with Mori-senpai! xD
Thank you! I like it, too! And yes... anglicized is exactly the word that I was looking for.

Yep. I like my name. :] We have to learn a third language here (you can also take more, it's really great when you're interested in languages), and a lot of people that aren't good at languages pick Latin because at least you don't have to talk. I was one of the few that actually liked it - it's so useful for other languages. And a lot of names have Latin roots too!
