Horrible Domestic Service
Today my day started horribly T__T my maid stained one of my favorite clothes!!! ....after coming to work 45 minutes later thank her average late time......it was her end...believe me it is not the first time, she has broken my favorite cup, two glasses, two creams (40$each) and I have always forgiven her , she always forgets to iron, and leaves my best clothes without laundry but today it was her end...its like when I saw the very delicate top all stained with purple dots (it is cream actually or was....) I wanted to cry ...Its like I wanted to shout at her so badly...
Of course I didnt because it is not my style to yell at people, I simply said Gabriella come here please...you see this...it costed me $270 I will discount it from your salary...she said it was ok and apologized but I couldnt stand it anymore...I said get your things and go....I dont want any drama just go... This kind of things really put me in the worst mood , specially because I am not a cruel person and I always try to give the best from me to everyone no matter what is their job in life you see? but it was like too much. Maybe you dont have maids but maybe your moms do or someone you know..? have you heard of stupid things made have done? |
Uhm, I don't actually know anyone with a maid.
We have a cleaner that comes once a fortnight but I choose not to let her do my bedroom and stuff because I don't think we need a cleaner. I guess the quote "if you want something done right, do it yourself" might be fitting here. |
... Did this maid have any training what-so-ever? I mean, that may sound like a stupid question but there are people out there who just hire anyone to clean their house and take care of some chores without knowing if the person has any experience. I mean, did this woman really know what she was suppose to be doing in your house?
I agree with Kalliste's saying "if you want something done right, do it yourself." Or as was the case with this blouse, maybe it should have been taken to the cleaners? |
Annoying -.-
I can understand you actually, Lol
My sister just can't kep her dam hands of my belongings And when she does, She breaks them or just completley ruins them If it's little things I don't mind But if it things that have cost me quite some money Then I do get annoyed.. =x :( And I think you did the right thing by telling her to leave I mean you dont want more things broken do you.. haha ;) |
Ugh I know what you mean. I can't have a maid anymore cause I'm so picky about how my things are. I used to have a woman, when I was living with my aunt, come and clean my room. I told her how I wanted it done. Didn't even come close. So I told her to just leave my room alone from now on.
Now I live with my mother and even if I wanted one I couldn't have one. She says I'm spoiled and all that. Little does she now. XD Well I'm older now and I still am spoiled, but I spoil myself now. |
I almost feel sorry for the poor maid, but I can also see why you would let her go. If someone is clumsy enough to break all of those things, they probably shouldn't be a maid. ._.;
But this is also why I don't buy expensive things; I am incredibly clumsy too! If I ever broke something expensive, or ruined one of my shirts that cost that much, I probably wouldn't stop crying for a week. I come from a poor family, so things that cost that much are to be taken very good care of. My aunt gave me diamond earrings once. I've never taken them out of the case for fear that I will lose one of them. Or both. o_o; If you chose to hire a new maid, I hope the new one is less clumsy and forgetful. I think I'd like a maid. I don't think I'd want her near my clothes, or dishes, because those things are easy. (After all, I have to have something to do when I'm bored. xD ) I just hate stuff like vacuuming and dusting. How hard could it be for someone to screw up dusting? |
You're lucky you can afford a maid. I agree with the posters above, "if you want something done right, do it yourself" But also "you get what you pay for" You could try going to a maid agency so you are sure that they are trained and competant. It will be a lot more money though.
Right now, I live with my family and we all clean up after each other so it isn't so bad. We have dishes and taking out the trash and that's about it. |
Definitely no maid here, but I'm a stay at home mom so I guess that makes me a 'sortamaid'. I can understand accidents, but with laundry? You just have to look at the tag and the instructions are right there. I look at the tag any time I'm not sure about how that particular item needs cleaned. I don't think you did anything mean there. It's her job to make sure things run smoothly. I know I'd be double checking everything if it was something I was actually paid for.
|
That sucks a lot. I hate that kind of situation, where you don't want to treat people like monsters, but then again, you feel like you're not getting what you're paying for.
I certainly don't want to yell or fire anyone, or be the typical abusive power-monger, but if you don't do your job correctly, then you don't do it anymore. That's the way it's supposed to work, and as the person paying for it, you deserve the right to enforce that. You're entitled to that. I think you did the right thing firing her. She should get a job she's better at, or get better at her job. It's just such an infuriating situation. Especially when the other party isn't being espcially malicious, and you sound like you're being so demanding and so intolerant, even when you're not. |
I don't understand why you would keep a maid around that isn't doing a satisfactory job. If I'm going to keep a person around to clean my house, I'm not going to stand for them fucking everything up and ruining stuff.
My friend's mom has a maid come through once a week, but she steals things and does it all wrong. All she does is hide things in random places so it looks clean, but isn't, and then my friend doesn't find her shit for months. :| |
My mommy used to get some maid service once a week. They were really good, but my brother claims that they cleaned his room and took a 20$ bill that was on his floor. (Why the hell was it on the floor anyways?) My mom told him that if he left the money on the floor in his messy room, he deserved to have it taken. If you can't take care of your money, you don't deserve it. XD
But yeah, we don't get a maid anymore because it's expensive, and now that my siblings and I are older, we're mature enough to help out. A lot of my dad's friends in LA have maids. Most of them are live-ins. I haven't heard of any problems, but that's probably because these are wealthy mansion-dwellers who probably hire only from trustworthy agencies. Not to mention, they treat the maids like family, since they live there, so it's kinda like, why would they do that? :3 But I do remember never having my room cleaned how I wanted it/told the maids that came to my house. So I always kept the door closed. (Closed doors = no cleaning please!) :3 |
I don't have a maid and i don't think i ever would, i like doing things for myself as it lets me know that a - i'm capable of taking care of myself and b - the job gets done and if I mess up i can't blame anyone but myself.
my mom tries to do my laundry and clean up for me sometimes and i absolutely hate it. she gets bleach stains on my good shirts and i can't find anything when she cleans up. she puts things in the weirdest places, such as a tampon in my dresser drawer when it should be under the bathroom counter. it irks the hell out of me |
First off I would like to say, congratulations on your success for being rich. Or at least making yourself sound rich. Second I would say, sorry that I posted here, because I do not know anyone, neither do I have my own maid. I wish I was lucky enough to have one. And so what. You fired her? It's not cruel. Everyone gets fired all the time. Don't put it too harsh on yourself. You've given her "demerits" and she piled too many up and ended up losing her job. It happens all the time.
|
im kinda like a maid to my family but i am alway doing things well i feel so sorry for your shirt and the maid also you:insane:
|
I don't have a maid. XD I do everything myself.
Besides, I wouldn't trust anyone else to clean up my room. Not that I have anything of great value. But still. That's my stuff, & only I know where it goes XD But, a family friend has a maid. I think the maid lives with her.. But there was one time, someone was stealing from her purse. She blamed the maid, but it was actually the woman's son. D: My aunt used to have maids come to her house...but I don't think she does that anymore. I don't think that they ever broke/ruined/stole anything though. Maybe she just couldn't afford it anymore. *shrugs* |
I wouldn't be able to trust a maid enough to have one. I hear too many stories about people having things stolen and stuff like that. I don't like people touching my things anyway.
|
Well, there's this woman who comes to clean our house once a week. She hasn't made any serious mistakes other than putting some clothes in drawers they weren't meant to be. But the maid in OP's story... Deserved to be sacked. Seriously, why hire such a clumsy person for a job they can't be good at?
|
you have a maid?! wow, very nice
my grandma used to clean my house once, she shrunk my favorite shirt($18 compared to the $200-something) and I complained to my mom but now, I don't really care as I don't even like the shirt these days |
I say quit with the maids and clean for yourself. If you honestly do not have the time to even wash a single item of clothing, I can understand. But if you seriously want things done right, do them yourself. It's not that hard to do dishes and put your clothes in the washer with some detergent. If you don't have the time to get them done all at once, don't.
People with maids = lazy. My opinion. |
I would love to have a maid... trying to keep the house clean and studying for uni exams on top of being a single parent means that I don't have much time for 'me time' - so the cleaning does suffer a bit because if I don't get my 'me time' I turn into an ogre. A maid would make things so much easier... and then when a red item of clothing finds it's way into the wash and pinkifies everything, it wouldn't be my own fault any more!
