It was an ordinary week. There were no signs at all, no hint that anything was about to happen. No one had any idea as to the events that were about to occur.... and when it finally DID happen, people weren't sure if it was a miracle or an omen of the Apocalypse.

Out of the blue, the earth began to rumble. And not in one place, but many; it was if the entire planet was having a seizure. The catastrophe lasted for what seemed like days, and when we rose from the rubble, we were shocked to see the image coming down from our satellites.

The Earth had gained a new continent.

And on this continent, we found the creatures of our dreams and nightmares: Everything from the old legends was TRUE. Witches, wizards, vampires, werewolves, and hundreds of strange and wonderful things we'd never even heard of. And strangely enough, a few weeks after the emergence of the new continent, ordinary humans began to experience changes. Some turned into demons, their true nature hidden until the presence of their homeland returned to the world, while others developed strange powers and began calling thmselves "psychics".

+ What would be your reaction to such an event? Would you like to visit this new continent (assuming the species were not generally hostile)?

+ What problems could you foresee arising from such an event? Do you think it would change the way we view "racism"?

+ Seeing as magic has returned to our world and is easily obtainable, what would you like to do with it?

+ Would you attempt to become a sort of magical creature? Why or why not?

I'm not too crazy about the vampires and werewolves, but other fantastical things would mean my dreams for adventure and fun had finally come true.

If we had to fight these things however I hope humans could put aside all their foolish problems with each other to fight off things creatures.

I would really lol if they sent these cool magic beams at us and then we just exploded them.

When something is different, first reaction of most is to fear it. When something turns dangerous (as things like werewolves and vampires would) the first reaction of most is to kill. (For the record, see how I said 'most.') I don't think it would last very long. Even a lot of scientists, who would normally want to preserve life, would agree considering that such a sudden addition to life would completely screw over everything that is already here.

Personally, I would stay away from the continent. I also probably wouldn't leave my house without a gun, laws be darned. People turning into demons around me? And you expect me not to protect myself? Yeah, right! :XD I suppose the newfound magic could be very interesting, but with all the monsters running around, I doubt much good would come from it.

I could see some serious mass panic coming from this. With people turning into demons and psychics all around, I imagine 'witch hunts' would be brought back. We've come a long way since then, I have no doubt that we're better people now, but I don't think it would be so impossible to revert if something so drastic occurred. Anyone who seemed different would probably be killed before the cops could even figure out what was going on. Too many people would panic and point fingers. I wouldn't want any of that magic. I'm already strange enough as it is. I don't want my family to have to suffer because someone saw me as something evil, you know?

All in all, I believe the human population would suffer greatly if this ever happened.

LOL It's like the, "IM CHARGIN MAH LAZARZ" and all of a sudden we swoop in and go, "WE A SMASHUN UR LAZARZ LULZ!"

Mmmyep. That's what it'd be like, all right. :D
I wonder if that'd make us underestimate them, though. It may end up as a magical-themed Vietnam.

To your second question, if there were vampires and werewolves, and other stuffs (oh my...) I would not generally assume that they were not hostile.

Problem is, some crazy person would try to run over there and kill them and get killed or raped and end up making a whole war between the 2-3 races. And if anything, someone would try to blame this on another race. "It's all the Black/White/Chinese/Puerto Rican/ etc.'s fault!"

LOL, it took me a few seconds to catch that. A magical nexus would be like... well, maybe like a big, swirling source of magic. Like, a Tree of Mana or something.

I think I might try to obtain the ability to become a giant and step on all the people I'm not very fond of. Disgusting and immature, but I'd probably find it quite fulfilling.

I might like to be a wizard or fairy. Wizard because... well... I'd be cool and fairies are in general so graceful and carefree.

Hmm what would I do with that? I'd return things to normal. If that wasn't an option, so long human race, it's werewolf time.

They would immediately be discriminated against. They'd have less rights than "normal people." They'd be the victims of hate crimes.

Sad but true. We do that to types of people who have ALWAYS been around, we'd definitely do it to new types.

I'd probably like to visit the continent, but I probably wouldn't for a while. First of all, it'd be new, so tons of people would be there. Second of all, I don't travel. Ever.

As long as the things were nice, I think it'd be pretty cool.

Hmm.... I want magic powers. So I would go there and steal magic powers. Then, I would cast a spell so that no one has more magic than me.

Okay, fine, I'll help you out when the vampires and things start killing people, but that's all. Then I'm going back into space to fly around some more.
As for turning into things, why would I want to? I already have magic powers.
Psh, like I want to be a vampire or a unicorn or whatever.
Though I suppose I'd go and visit them, if only to see them once.

Oh, and I forgot, with my new magic powers I make nukes not exist.
And terminal illnesses. I make those not exist too.

Of course, if I did get something, I could probably fix it. Eh, I get rid of them anyway, because they suck.

And in response to the people who said that discrimination would break out, I can see that, but with my magic powers I would watch over everyone, and then when someone goes out intending to lynch, they shall find themselves to be the lynch'd.
And that's not just in regards to humans vs. magic things. I'd be watching for good old fashioned racism and sexism and homophobia, and all that stuff. Also, anyone who ever messes with kitties will PAY. I saw this thing on Gaia once where someone seriously burned a kitten to death. That kind of crap would not happen again though. I would seriously kill them, in the most painful way I could think of.
It might be a little like Death Note, except that I actually have morals, unlike Light.
