Looking good has painful sacrifices. ;-;

So yesterday, I ran for like 40 mins on my treadmill and ended up with a blister on one of my feet. I was like, whatever, it's just one right?

So later that day my second cousin came by and we went out to the plazas near my place. I decided to wear my Sketchers which matched my outfit, even though it's 1/2 size too small. Like, how bad could it be? Well, I ended up getting 5 blisters on my feet and they hurt like hell! Also two deep cuts on the back of my foot with an addition of blisters.

Also later that day, my parents came home to take me and the family to a Chinese restaurant. I decided to change my Sketchers by wearing my mom's black slippers out. Apparently, I ended up with two more blisters because of the previous effects from the Sketchers.

So I came home, with about 7-9 blisters. As pretty as things may be, never wear them if they are slightly smaller though you assume it would work. ;0; Now I have to wait for them to die down itself because I can't pop em. .___.;

So, any painful blisters experience like moi? Or anything close?

I'm the kind of girl that wears t-shirts, jeans, and sneakers. Boy sneakers at that. But one day at school, my friend came up to me and said, "Wear a skirt tomorrow."
She told all of her friends to wear a skirt. There was no real reason...she just wanted us all to wear skirts xD

So, the next day, I'm putting on my skirt when I decide to wear some high-heel shoes with my outfit. My mom got them for me from Hot Topic and were really cute, I just never had a chance to wear them. Well, it turns out that they were about half a size too big for me, but I thought it was no big deal and decided to wear them to school anyways. Big mistake. I couldn't walk at all in those shoes! I had to walk super slow to keep them from falling off so it took forever to get from class to class.

Well, my last class for the day just happened to be on the complete opposite side of the school from where my ride home is. So I had two choices: Either take the shoes off and walk barefoot on the black pavement that's been out in the Florida sun all day, or keep the shoes on and spend an eternity walking to my ride. I decided to take the shoes off and run for it.

I ended up burning the bottoms of both my feet and spent the rest of the day on the couch xP
I also gave the heels away to a friend.

That happened to me when I went on a school trip to London. The other side of my country. I had my favourite trainers on all the way through the trip. There was a lot of walking involved plus we had to stand for about 3 hours to watch a play. That was the first night there as well so I ended up with 3 blisters on each foot. Not nice when I had no plasters to put on them.

I had a pair of Adios a couple of years ago. The shoe said they were the right size for me but I ordered them and never got a chance to try them on. I guess the sizes were different because they hurt my feet so much. I wore them to school everyday trying to break them in but my feet would be completely numb by the end of the day. I didn't get major blisters but they hurt so much. I was never able to break those things in at all. I tried to wear them again not too long ago but they were awful so I went with something else.

At the time I was really wishing I didn't wear each pair of shoes for a year at a time. Allmy older shoes were nasty so I was forced to wear those horrible Adios. I'll never get another pair in my life. I like my Vans and Etnies so much better.

Waxing. Now THERE'S a painful act for the sake of beauty.

Sagitar 06-01-2008 04:54 PM

they were pretty high heeled... >.< no more high heels for me please! although they do look so hot, I can manage to wear them for an hour or two just for that xD

also, for my wedding I went and colored my eyelashes... that was not a pleasent experience >.> it tingled so much!

Well my philosophy is thus: there is absolutely no reason to wear something that is painful or to do something that is painful in order to satisfy an appearance that you wouldn't otherwise satisfy.

The only reason to do anything painful in altering one's appearance is to better express exactly what you feel about yourself, and then only when it is perfectly able to be endured.

Teko-chi 06-01-2008 10:03 PM

Lawl. I hate sacificing my body for beauty...so I dont.
I don't like people saying things like "Oh...you're so beautiful..." when they dont know me at all. -.-;

poet`s playground 06-01-2008 10:07 PM

I agree with you, Teko. I don't understand how someone can tell me that I'm beautiful without knowing me. I mean, I understand the society which would allow someone to assume that I want to hear it, but I don't understand, really...

Saisei 06-01-2008 10:13 PM

In society's defense, one doesn't have to know you to find you aesthetically pleasing.

Then there's always the whole "beauty is truth, truth is beauty" thing...

poet`s playground 06-01-2008 10:36 PM

Aesthetics and everything else aren't totally independent of each other. Someone can be aesthetically pleasing without being beautiful.

EDIT: I'd like to note that I don't take "pretty" to mean the same thing - it speaks on looks and makes plenty of sense ^^;;.

so true my philosophy for me is if I ca't fall asleep in it then I wont wear it, that probubly the reason why I only wear t-shirts jeans and sk8ter shoes but then people thing I have no since of style lol

poet`s playground 06-01-2008 11:13 PM

To be honest, there are a few things that I wear that aren't the most comfortable in the world, but sometimes it's one comfort over another: if it's hot, I'll wear something that doesn't cover up too much, but that might not be very comfortable to lie down in, etc... and sometimes I'll wear something for the look. But it will be because I actually like it, or because it's part of a costume and I'm trying to give a certain character, etc... but with the exception of breaking in, I generally refuse to wear very uncomfortable shoes, because uncomfortable shoes make everything else uncomfortable.

RainbowSuicide 06-01-2008 11:47 PM

well yeah there are time that I don't were confortable thing like my gothic lolita outfit has a lace skirt that is kind of itchy but it looked really cute and I didn't want to wear my every day cloths to the anime convention

poet`s playground 06-02-2008 12:09 AM

Yeah, as an exception it's generally OK, I just don't like to wear things that are really uncomfortable when I don't have to...

RainbowSuicide 06-02-2008 12:31 AM

true my mom bought my some really cool shoes from hot topic that I think I've only weared them 3 time cause there like 2 inches high and I always seem to twist my ankle and almost fall over when going down the stairs at me school XD

poet`s playground 06-02-2008 12:38 AM

I refuse to wear heels. To my prom, I wore saddle shoes.
In tenth grade, I wore a pair of slip-on heels, and they weren't even very high, but they were very slippery, and very uncomfortable, and I refused to wear heels to my prom.

RainbowSuicide 06-02-2008 12:46 AM

well mine aren't really heels there flat but high so I guess there more like plateforms.

I would have done the same thing I tryed wearing high-heels once for hallowing and I couldn't even walk with my feet at a weird angle, what I don't get is how hookers can run in them XD lol. For prom I'm going to dread wearing a dress I look bad in almost every dress I have ever tryed on as for shoes I might just wear ballit shoes (I think I spelt that wrong sorry)

poet`s playground 06-02-2008 12:49 AM

You did; it's "ballet" but that's OK.
My sister made the dress that I wore for prom ^^. And she made sure that it had pockets, because I can't stand handbags and clutches and purses, etc., as I find them to be highly inconvenient.

Arkeyla 06-02-2008 12:55 AM

Ah, I love high heels. I don't find them uncomfortable at all - my fave pair of shoes at the moment are silver sparkly stilettos, with a seven inch heel.

RainbowSuicide 06-02-2008 01:02 AM

@poet`s playground-I though so, same I don't like them but I bough this death Note bag so I didn't have to us my backpack everywear, since most of my clothes don't have pockets or there really small and can't fit anything in them DX

@Arkeyla- wow see I would die if I wear them, but they do sound pretty

poet`s playground 06-02-2008 01:02 AM

That just sounds unhealthy...

People who wear high heels frequently often get muscle issues that cause it to be uncomfortable to go flat footed...

But personally I just find them uncomfortable and wouldn't like to wear them enough for them to be uncomfortable, and they're also impractical.

RainbowSuicide 06-02-2008 01:09 AM

really you can get muscle issues from wearing them to much, actually yeah that does make sence since you have your foot at a wierd angle
