"I can't get pregnant! You're a vampi... nevermind."

So, there's been plenty of threads about dreams. But this one is a bit different.
This isn't for telling about weird dreams or prophetic dreams, or nightmares or anything like that.
(I don't THINK this has been done yet.... I don't think it has. If it has, my apologies.)

This is for those weird, vague, realistic little dreams you have that, in the waking world, you thought were real.

For example:
A few months ago, my mom and I were out shopping. She says she has to pick up something for my dad that he asked her to get. I forget what it was. We'll just say that it was a hose nozzle for all intents and purposes.
So she buys the hose nozzle. Dad gets home later on, and she's like "Hey, I picked up that hose nozzle for you." And my dad is like "What hose nozzle?"
"The one you asked me to get...?"
"I never asked you to get a hose nozzle."
"Yes you did! Just a few days ago!"
"No I didn't? It's the middle of winter, why would I need a hose nozzle?"
"..... ._ ." Then my mom realizes that she DREAMT dad asking her to buy a hose nozzle.
She proceeds to feel silly, and dad laughs at her. And, well, we have a new hose nozzle.

Another (weirder) one that I had was the one that inspired my topic title.
I have a huge fear of getting pregnant. So I plan on getting my tubes tied before my boyfriend and I have sex. So, seeing as I'm moving in with him in a year, I've been worrying about that a lot lately.
I've also been reading the Twilight series a ton.
So about an hour ago, I was thinking about getting my tubes tied and I suddenly realized. "Wait! I came up with a solution a few days ago! Where I don't have to get my tubes tied!"
I thought about it.
And realized what it was. It was a dream. I dreamt my boyfriend was a vampire, and that if he bit me and turned me into a vampire, I wouldn't be able to conceive. ._ . Problem solved?

SOANYWAY. Enough of MY stories. Time for YOURS!

Have you ever mistaken a dream for reality? (Been mad at someone for something they said to you in a dream? Bought something you dreamt you needed? Etc.)

YEARS ago I had a really realistic dream that I was playing Pokemon and I caught a second legendary dog that I had been chasing for a while (I used up my masterball on the first one I encountered, Suicune). The first thing I did when I woke up was check my game to see whether I had that Pokemon in my roster, lmao... I didn't. >__< </3

I always have that feeling like I'm free falling and I wake up screaming..sometime sit happens when I space out too and I jump. I guess the weirdest realistic dream was the one where I felt like I was actually the age everyone thinks I am (24) and that I'd already done college and had a job already, then I woke up in my bed and freaked out! In the dream I'd lived a whole year that way..so it was really trippy..

...When I was about four I had a dream a tiger that was sitting on top of my chest of drawers had bit me and broken my leg... I can't believe I actually thought it happened. I argued with my mom about it even. Years later it was sort of an "oh" thing.... Also a couple nights ago I had this series of dreams school was taking place over the summer. I got incredibly angry about that, then realized it was never true....

Clair Voyant 06-15-2008 01:16 PM

I had a dream once that my friend, who moved away, came back. I woke up excited that I might see him at school...and then, the realization that he wasn't come back kicked in and I started sobbing. x_x Then, I felt sorta stupid for thinking he'd come back.

The realization, I think, was like a very sickening shock. It was so awful!

The-Shadow-Girl 06-15-2008 01:46 PM

It always surprises me how much we put stock in our dreams while under their influence.

Lehst 06-15-2008 03:03 PM

-_- it sucks when you have a dream and don't know it, then a few days later you are having a conversation with someone and they say "What?? I didn't know that!!" but you argue and later realize when you told them whatever it was, it was really just a dream. Or you still aren't even sure.

Vex 06-15-2008 03:41 PM

My dream really sucked, I had to do this pile of homework and I was concentrating on it so hard. I finally got it all finished (and I felt exhausted) and I took a sigh of releif right before my alarm woke me up, and then I had to go to school and do it all over again. When I was really young I dreamt I got a doll I really wanted for my birthday and right when I was about to open the box I woke up.
Another time I had a dream I spent almost a full day of school so when I woke up I was like "argh, not again."
Another dream I had I was at the beach we always go to with my family but it looked different. We were walking on a sidewalk and my girl scout group wanted me to work with them and my family was going to go swimming and have a great time.
Oh and my most disappointing dream in the universe.
I was with some kids and there was a cloud of the ground. I got on it and a few others and we got up. We were flying/floating and we were going somewhere magical. We moved like 30 feet and a teacher told us to go down. The cloud lowered back to the ground and when I tried to get it flying again it did not work. But to make up for that dream I had a different one where I was in a little alien saucer thing and I was flying all around a farm house with a pool but this hill billy was trying to shoot me with a rifle once or twice.
I have a lot of dreams.
awh.

Sagitar 06-15-2008 04:29 PM

yeah that has happened to me too.. just some small stuff though.. x3

anyway, you can get your tubes tied?? *jealous*
they wont tie my tubes since I'm only 21 and I haven't had a child yet.. >.> blah.

Aww, that's a shame! I hate dreams like that. XD
I've dreamt that I got really expensive items on avatar sites, and when I wake up, I of course, don't have them. It sucks, doesn't it? XD

Whoa. o_O That's weird. Waking up had to be really disorienting...

Yeah, dreams are worse when you're little, since you don't always know they were dreams. And plus, everything's scarier when you're five.

You mean how seriously we take them as they're happening? Or how seriously we take them afterwards?

Or at least call in sick. XD

Maybe you should be a pilot. XD You seem to enjoy flying.

As in, like, the doctors won't let you, or your parents wont?
Because I don't know about the doctors.... I haven't talked to one about it yet.
But my mom is okay with it. She just doesn't want to pay for it. X(
So my boyfriend says she can just pay for and take care of the baby instead. :P XD

I had a dream that I was finally getting around to cosplaying and I decided that I didn't want to have a wig. So, I got my hair cut shorter and had to style it like the character's (My hair is long, mind you, so it was really freaky.) and it turned out really cool. I knew it wasn't real though, because my hair would've turned into an afro if I cut it short. ;-;

Icicles 06-15-2008 06:52 PM

I thought quote walls were considered an account warning ._.

Yeah 06-15-2008 07:26 PM

Why get your tubes tied? What if you decide you want kids later on down the line? There are plenty of alternatives that don't require permanent sterilization or surgery. And for that matter why are you getting the surgery? It's much less invasive if a man has a vasectomy.

Fullmetal Phantom 06-15-2008 09:17 PM

Hm...I'm a vampire, I wonder if that means I can't get pregnant? XD

Anyway, I've had dreams like that before. Usually bad ones. Dreams about people who have affected my life in huge and important ways without me ever getting to thank them...

Upon waking up from those, my immediate reaction is to get online and look for any information about the subject. Thank god...so far, they've all been dreams.

raine dragon 06-15-2008 09:30 PM

A few days ago, I dreamed that is was the next day and I dream...like my whole day o.o; and then I woke up and was convinced that I had already lived through that day and it was the next one. Granted, I was kinda sick so I was half-out of it already. XD Still, it was pretty funny.

Ooh, that sucks.
I can relate, though. My hair wouldn't turn to an afro, but my hair is really poofy, so I could never have one of those adorable short cuts. ;_;

I'm pretty sure that only ever applied to embedded quotes. Like, a long chain of quotes within quotes within quotes (and so on and so forth) from a conversation. Which you can't even do anymore, I don't think.
If they didn't want us to use the multi-quote option, I think they would have disabled it, don't you think?

You can get the procedure undone.
And I'm getting it done because I don't ever want to get pregnant. I plan on being with my boyfriend for the rest of my life, but if something happens and we break up, then there goes my infertility.
And he won't get a vasectomy. I don't mind having my tubes tied. It's not a big deal. If I really want a kid, I'll adopt. I've never seen the point of making a baby when there's already tons that need a home.

Sagitar 06-15-2008 10:05 PM

doctors wont let me. they don't give those to people who haven't given birth or aren't like over 30..
my parents have no say to it.

Bubblegum 06-15-2008 10:58 PM

I have the weirdest, most realistic dreams when I'm sleeping in class. Like once, after a standardized test, I had a dream that my chair was trying to levitate and go through the ceiling, which for some reason was 12' high, in a classroom. And I was trying to keep it down, but it wouldn't stay. Eventually I woke up, looked at the ceiling, and thought "Wasn't that much higher just a couple of minutes ago?"

There was also a time when I was sleeping in English class and I dreamt I was trying to sleep in English class. Except that my classmates were literally acting like monkeys, hanging from the ceiling and eating bananas. I woke up and said "Wow, it's so much calmer now," and my friends said, "What are you talking about, it just got really loud."
>_>;

Ghost Pony 06-15-2008 11:13 PM

Oh, please, don't get your tubes tied. Just use some sort of contraceptive. I know it's a little scary, but tying off the tubes seems a little extreme. I was terrified too, and I don't plan on having kids, but getting pregnant is not as common as everyone makes it out to be. And there's an age limit.

As for the topic; I've had dreams like that before, yes. They're strange, because I've been talking with a friend before, and mention something that I thought she said or a conversation we had earlier or a few days ago, and they just stare at me. Once, I remember, it turned out that it was something she had wanted to tell me, but hadn't said it yet.

Talk about creepy film material right there.

MayuSatomiJuRei 06-15-2008 11:54 PM

I dreamt that I was looking for a top in my wardrobe. And that when I woke up I was convinced I owned it and was annoyed that it wasn't real.

ANd the best form of contraceptive is this brilliant little thing called the implanon implant. I had it in for 2 years not one scare!!! It has side effects though so read up on it xx

Do you live in the US?
And also, do you know if that was JUST your doctor, or did more than one tell you that?

I don't trust most contraceptives. Most of them are hormone-based and those can give you cancer. And condoms are just blech.

Whoa, that's creepy. It's like you're psychic in your dreams or something. XD

Oh, I hate the clothes dreams!!
I always dream that I have such cute clothes, and then when I go to get dressed I remember that they're not real.

Sugar Floss Decay 06-16-2008 02:33 AM

Vampires aren't real, so you would still get pregnant. xD

But getting your tubes tied is a very smart move, if I may say so. I'm gonna be on the pill, myself. I hate children...

Cherry Who? 06-16-2008 04:17 AM

Sugar Floss - Well, in Twilight the vampires can't get pregnant. XD So that's where I got it.
Why my subconscious held onto that fact, though, I have no clue. o.O The book barely mentions it.

Yeah. I don't HATE all children, I just really don't want one. They're fine when they're someone else's. XD Sometimes. There are some kids I just want to smack upside the head, though.
And I don't trust the pill, personally. I've heard too much about the hormones causing cancer and stuff. >.O

Sagitar 06-16-2008 08:29 AM

nope, I don't live in the US.
It's not just something my doctor told me, it is how it is, everywhere on the country. I guess only for special reasons it would be done for a young person like me with no children.
