Go to his place if your parents are that bad. Nothing has to happen unless you want it to. I like the idea of just getting some fast food and playing games/ watching movies all evening, sounds relaxing and fun :)

Something like these: - Play tennis or some sport at a park
- Walk around town and talk, take the dog if you have one
- Go to like a coffee shop or something and share a drink =)
- Go hiking or walk on a trail
- Play video games together! xD
- Play board games together, old boring board games are more fun that way
- I might add more~

Inexpensive date - Get some fireworks, set up a picnic in your backyard and after eating, set off your fireworks ... woot!
Movies are not too expensive but do require some money.
If your significant other is into gaming, a game or two of bowling at your local alley should not be too expensive. At mine it's only like $2.50 or $3.50 per game
If that doesn't sound good, why not pick out a movie from your own movie collection - then sit down, break out a bag of chips or whatever your preferred snack is, turn down the lights and watch your movie. If this is a movie you have already seen that is even better because you and your date can talk and get distracted by eachother during the movie. (And that shouldn't cost you any money except for buying chips or snacks)
Cheap date: Take a walk to the park and watch the sunset. Swing on the swings together or play on the teeter totter. This is especially fun if you are over t he age of 18. Hehe!
Hope these ideas inspire someone ... have a nice time!

Picnicking and hiking are always good, as has been said, but if you're worried about him trying to start something you're not ready for, a hike might be better, as it will present less opportunity.
As it's summer, you could also keep your eye open for free community activities; my town always does free outdoor movies and music events during the summer, yours might do the something similar.

You could always cook him dinner and enjoy a movie together. Play video games with each other. Enjoy a walk in the late evening while you two talk. I'm sure anything you do together will be fun. Such is the joy of being in love.

Just be your usual self--Talk, play around,
Walk or go to the movies, an arcade, a carnival.
Carnivals are really fun :3 You have a good time and
that's likely all that matters.

if you have a beach nearby go there and watch the sunset or something
you could go on a hike
or a bike ride
get a bunch of friends together and play hide-n-go-seek in Wal-mart
suprise him by asking him where he wants to go
take a drive just to talk
err mini-golf that one's fun and cheap

=O PLAY CHARADES!
Dates are fun, but get a whole group of people together and play charades!! Have eveyrbody write down 5-10 things on a slip of paper, stick it in a hat/bowl, draw and play!
SOO fun, and costs what--making the plans and the sheets of paper xD

I suggest going to the beach.
It's cheap, fun, and relaxing.
Besides, you'll be able to show off while you're there too, haha.

Personally, I'm happy with enjoying a quiet evening at home. Both my husband and I like things quiet and we like to be alone so we'll just rent a movie and make dinner at home. Sometimes, we end up going to the park and walking around for hours, if it's nice out. Other times, we go to local concerts where tickets are either free or $5 and sit around listening to music for a while. It all depends on our mood though.

I think the best date I ever went on was last year. We headed out and bought some food then went up the hill and explored the moors a bit, did a bit of climbing up and down rocks and valleys till we got tired then sat on this rock which hung out over a sheer drop and had our picknic with our feet dangling into nothingness and just watching the clouds go by.
