@Am I Just Paranoid?- She can hem them to make them shorter but she hasn't found a way to him them a way she likes. Plus they are usually around 3-4 inches to long. So that's a lot to hem.

I don't really go for brand things, but that doesn't mean I won't wear them. I wear what looks good and is affordable. I used to be super frugal on spending for clothes--like I would only buy shirts under $10, and they weren't bad, but they were $10 shirts. I've come to realize that you do get what you pay for, and if you spend a little bit more, things are made better. Of course, you can only make something so well. There's a point when it's just mark up over a name.
I think I've only gotten one item that was outrageously priced--a $150 bag--but I didn't even buy it myself. It was a Christmas present from a big group of friends, so it really wasn't that bad. xD I love them for it, though. ^^ |
I haven't gone shopping in several years.
A lot of my clothes have been bought by family and friends of the family. Newest piece of clothing I have are a pair of jeans I got as a present from Target. It cost $16 and I think that is insane. I usually shop in thrift stores. Big deal, they don't have a certain brand label slapped across my boobs. o.O; Spending that much money on clothes when there are so many other things that I need that money for. |
@Dystopia- I'm with you. I like the cheap stuff. We don't need labels to define who we are.
Though I really like to get character tees. (Like happy bunny, disney, and anime) |
@Lilith: I think labels are half the problem. If the price is high, but the quality is good, would you buy it? Or would you instead look at the brand name and refuse to wear it because it sets some sort of standard?
|
Most of the things that come from the brand names I don't tend to like, and I usually have a lot of items, so they don't have to be super high quality because I don't wear them all the time, and I'd rather have a lot of items so I can mix and match than have to fit some high standard... that's just me, though.
|
I tend to buy things that I like regardless of if it comes from a name brand or not. My shirts typically cost around 4 or 5 dollars but my jeans are a little more expensive at 16 - 20 dollars but they fit me correctly and I can keep them for years. The only thing I really splurge on is shoes, and that's because you really do get what you pay for. Like I have a pair of tennis shoes from payless, but they don't give me the support I need and they're falling apart in like a year. However the 50+ dollar tennis shoes that my mother gets give great support and last a long time. Heels are the same way, sure Cole Haans are pretty darn expensive but heels you can play basketball it? Priceless.
|
well when it comes to me I hardly ever have money so when I do I'm very picky about how much I will spend on what, and if I find it to be more then I think it should I most likly wont buy it unless I really really want it
|
I have been I Hoillster and Abercombie, but never bought anything from the store. I think most of my going out clothes consist of mostly Aeropostale clothing and couple of shirts from American Eagel that were on sale. And my shoe I would buy at Vans. But. I would buy my flip flops at Ross. I heard these flip flops called Rainbow are really popular where I live at.
I would say the most expensive thing that I got was this brown jacket from Aeropostale, which was like 30 or 40 bucks... I think. Btw the jacket was pretty thin. Haha. |
I know, this happens all the the time to people, they buy things just because of the designer. it kind of bugs me..... One of my friends loves designers and is extremely superficial :(.
|
Yeah. I've saw purses around here for like... $500. I mean seriously. That's crazy. NO article of clothing and / or an accessory is worth that. Jeez. I don't shop alot.. at all. Truthfully, I look at it as a chore. Lol.
But sometimes, I'll spend like $150 at Hot Topic or something. Not often though. Maybe like once a year. Their pants are like.. $50 a pair. |
I'm really big on saving money, so if I do shop for clothes, I usually shop at thrift shops, Wal-Mart or Old Navy for my clothes.
|
A lot of my wardrobe, and certainly all of my denim/khakis are Old Navy because I used to work there and employees get 20% off everything, 40% off 5 tops or bottoms a month and 50% off one item per month... (plust 30% off at gap, banana, etc)
Most of my shirts come from the "whatever's cheap and my size" department, since I'm a 3XLT and tend to just buy a pile of shirts at once. :) Shoes are probably the only thing I splurge on wardrobe wise, since in most cases you get what you pay for. I've had the same pair of Docs for several years now, and will undoubtedly have them for several more. |
That's a great idea, Old Navy usually has reasonable prices.
|
I still buy my denim and shorts from there simply because I know I like the fit, even though their prices cut a little deep now that I don't get the discount. :)

I would not refuse to wear something because of its label. Just if it is over priced for the quality. Then I would by it on sale or at a rummage sell. |
Hahaha. xD; My friend has that song as her ringtone.
~What makes you spend a decent amount on name brand clothing or accessories? I don't, usually. I don't care about labels or brands. ~Do you just buy anything that you like, or do you limit yourself to certain stores? I usually just buy anything I like. I don't really care what's popular or what brand something is. I do have favorite store and make sure to visit them when I go shopping. Like Hot Topic. I think a lot of their clothes are really cute. I basically go anywhere that looks cool from the outside. xD; ~How often do you go shopping? Not super often, but sort of often. I don't necessarily buy something every time, though. I really need to go shopping, though. xD; I've been back home from college for almost two months and I haven't gone to the mall yet. D: I really want to go because there's a new Asian-themed clothing store. I want to see what it's like. I also need new shirts. >.>; |
the owners of the store assume they can get away with pricing it s high because they know people are willing to pay because its a brand name. Some people are stupid enough to just buy clothes because of brand. I mean, look at lululemon. They have expensive clothing. but to be an experianced shopper you need to know whats in the clothing. lululemon use seaweed in their clothes. the clothes are also made by children being forced to save every penny because the parents cant get a job.
so if youre looking for an opinion, youve got it |
I'm cheap. > _> The only brand name clothing I own are just hand-me downs, so I didn't spend a thing on them. And I don't have a lot. So I don't spend on brand names. . _.;
I like cheaper clothes, where you don't have to worry about getting grass stains on them or ripping 'em. :9 |
