Lol, another thread that will benefit me. But it give us something to talk about and something to kill time for me. @@

As the question above, I haven't really worked anywhere. I did at Chapters for like two days and quit because the manager indirectly forced me. >-< It was last year and near the beginning of my school year. My dad was mad that I got a job because he wants me to focus on my studies (like hell I ever do >> ). So I requested to one of my two managers at that time to give me a schedule that only involves Friday and the weekend. She discussed this with the other manager and she pulled me aside. She said, "You either choose school or work. I don't care what your life is like but I need workers that can do their job well." I was like, jeez! So I resigned. Now I sorta regret it because I could've saved like $100 on my books now and have a bit more money for my conventions.

It's not a bad job but that's the only one I had. XD; So what about you guys? Did you work somewhere you really hated? Why? (This will help me cause I'm gonna go out and apply to a few more places)

Thats abit unfair...sometimes you need to work for money to study!

I once worked as a waitress, while i was at college, it was ok for a while but my manager made me want to quit, i hated her with a passion, she always seemed to pick on me because i was the newest/youngest/least experienced.

Nothing like being the newbie in a workplace eh =/

That's awful. D: I hate it when you are judged just because you are inexperienced. That's why I am afraid to apply at a couple of places.

JCrew.
I've had some six jobs or something and JCrew was the WORST. The people were MISERABLE to work with, the customers were RUDE, and nobody communicated or made any decisions that made sense there. I was working two jobs at the time and the manager CONSTANTLY tried to get me to quit the other place and I wouldn't. He kept saying "We have the hours here blah blah blah" and finally they didn't give me ANY hours for two weeks. Nor anyone else who was parttime. So I quit. It happened to like three other people I knew. It's a MISERABLE place.

It's a "high end" (read: expensive) clothing store in America.

I've worked mostly retail unfortunately, and it makes me want to shoot something. :'(

Oooh. I'm scared of retail. I got an interview at Esprit once and the women suddenly asked me to "sell" my shirt. I was like, "Whut? o.o" and that bombed my entire interview so I didn't get hired. Dx

Well that's stuff like "Well if you feel it, it's nice and soft and has this GREAT little feminine lace up at the neckline. You can dress it up like I have here, with nice pants and pretty jewelry, or dress it down for a night out with jeans and sneakers."
Hahah you get used to it after a while. I've been in a furniture store, a book store, an underwear store, JCrew, a sunglass store, and I work in the theatre on campus when I"m at school xDD

I was like, frozen because it was so unexpected for me. xD; Because sales associates only deal with like cashier and cleaning up and such. I died a little in that interview. D: But that was my first one. I'm just wondering if I should apply in those retail stores. I'm scared it'll happen again. D:

Interviews are quite scary...I've honestly never had a real one yet though.

I mean, the interview for the watressing job was mainly just her telling me stuff about the place then she asked me how confident i felt. and i said i'd probably feel more confortable if i was just a runner (doing the little jobs rather than having my own tables straight away) for a while so i could observe everybody else.

I ended up working there 6 months before i had even 1 table no matter how many times i asked, and i never got more than 10 hours in a week when i asked for more hours. and i was UNDER minimum wage...it just wasn't worth it!

I've applied at a food store now. its just a quiet spa though so it should be ok...if i get the job xD

Sales associates clean up, clean after customers, ring the register, have to KNOW the product and be able to sell it to people, as well as being able to help people who come in saying "This is what I'm looking for." So don't be surprised by questions like that =P

Yeah waitressing isn't worth it until you're actually running tables because you get paid under minimum with the expectation that you'll make it up in tips. The store is supposed to adjust if your tips don't cover you, but most places don't bother.

Hmmm I'm uncomfortable working with food srsly. I dont know what I'll do next summer if I can't get this job at SGH back. I love it so <3

I think.. other than the job I have now (which is bad because I only get 12 hrs a week and don't make enough to pay for the gas it takes to get there..) I hated working for a place called RGIS, its an inventory specialist place.
It was good at first because we got to make our teams that we traveled with (which meant I got to work with my BF and my friends)... But then they started scheduling us at 2-3-4 or even 5 in the morning... Then they just dropped us... it sucked!! ^.^ But it payed ok I guess.

I am not sure if it can be considered as the crappiest place I ever worked at but I used to work in this Japanese restaurant. I get paid 50 bucks per day but the restaurant provides me breakfast and lunch. The place sure is busy and the job is not hard to do but its a tiring one.

I worked at Sonic for a whole week once! It was horrible the manager was sexist. Girls's were not allowed to work the fryer we have to do deserts and drinks. Personally I much rather would have done the fryer. When you spill the ice cream on you (which is impossible to aviod) our shirt will smell like rancid milk forever. Guys also were not allowed to work deserts or drinks which I think is retarded. And I got locked in the big freezer once.

Exactly. I wanted tables so i could get tips. the only time i ever got a good day of tips was when a waitress was ill so i had to cover for her. i made £40 that day (or almost $80 to you guys xD)

if i could do that every weekend i would have stayed just for the extra cash, but my wage was horrible and i hardly ever got tables, so stuff em!

I hope i get this job at the supermarket though, i might like it if its quiet, i won't be under pressure as much xD

I worked at a golf course last year as a waitress. While the money was excellent...the customers weren't.

I either had really creepy old men who even tho they tipped you well...it just wasn't worth it.

Or I had people who thought they were above everyone else. I was delivering lunches out on the course and this one guy wanted to order when he wasn't supposed to. So I tried explaining it to him and he yelled at me to just bring him back a cheeseburger. So I went back and told my manager and my manager decided to accommodate him. The kitchen staff was so backed up that I kept passing his cart and delivering food to people ahead of him. Finally on my second to last run he stopped me and said do you have my cheeseburger and I looked in my box for his cart number and said no sorry sir and he told me well fine F off then! Except of course he didn't say F...he said the whole word. I was so angry! Who does that???

Some customers are so rude ><

waitresses end up getting the worst of it, all we're doing is serving them, and they complain at us if we bring out the wrong thing, the food is cold, late, ect ect.

I hate rude customers, we're getting paid minimum wage to serve strangers of all kinds. they could at least give us some respect.

ugh, i'm not waitressing again thats for sure xD

I worked housekeeping at the Hampton Inn for about a month. I was in school so I could only work weekends. (Which sucked because that meant I never had weekends off.)

Anyway. It wasn't a difficult job or anything. It started right at 9 am, then at noon we got an hour lunch break, then we were off around 2 or 3.
The only thing that sucked was the fact that I was the only person there who was fluent in English. I'm not racist or anything, but when a Mexican gets mad at me for not knowing Spanish, I get pissed off. My first day of training, I was teamed with one of the girls and she started speaking Spanish to me. She said something and laughed like she was telling a joke so I gave her an awkward smile and what-not. Then, she looked at me and asked me a question.

I shrugged and said, "I don't. . . understand." And her eyes nearly popped out of her head as she said, "Ooooh! You don't speak Spanish!" It was like I was in trouble or something. :/

It was even worse at lunch when all twenty of the housekeeping ladies were in a room with me. . . all talking in Spanish. At times, I'd look up and see people pointing to me and talking. I just sat there and waited for lunch to be over.

That job wouldn't have been as bad had they known English.

Bakery. IT wasnt the place, it was my boss. First he hired me because he thought I was younger then I was so could pay me less, then he made us work 9 hours a day on our feet with only one 5 minute break.

McDonalds. I still work fast food, but I will not work for another McDonalds for a very long time. The management at the store I worked at when I left was worse than McDonalds food itself, which takes a whole hell of alot of talent.

I now work at Taco Bell, where people actually seem to have a brain to think for themselves (so far at least)

Literally the crappiest job I ever had?

One summer I worked with my dad's business pumping out the holding tanks of boat toilets.

Now THAT was a crappy job. XD;;;

I had many jobs but the worst was in this factory i worked there only for a day. It was horrible. The people, the work, the organisation... I decided i wasn't gonne go back the next day. I would never do such a thing, but i really couldn't stand it another day, even though i needed the money. It was just horrible.
