Thank you. I really wish they would. Really if they don't cut it out I'm going to end up blocking their number from my phone. They did the same thing to my mom when she only had me ((i'm the only, only child on my mom's side....scotts-irish family...they think they need to pop out at least 5)) and if they think they can break me where they couldn't her"? They need to think again. I'm not nearly as attached to them as she is....not even 1/5th as attached. I only talk to them so they won't whine to my mom that I'm ignoring my family ties.

@Lollirot: Yeah, cats can be a pain. If you raise them from when they're kittens and train them properly then they're much easier to care for. I prefer having a pet to having children simply for the fact that they're generally more independent than children. With our kitten all we really have to do is make sure he doesn't chew on wires and that sort of thing and feed him and clean his litter box, which honestly isn't that difficult. He doesn't keep us up all night either, which is a definite plus that you don't get with children.

I raised all 4 of my cats from before their eyes were open:) They think I'm their mommy. Best part is they may be more independant but they won't turn into ungrateful little teenagers. Well if they were they would have by now I know lol. They are affectionately attached to me and my husband to the point that i can't close a door without one of them sticking a paw under it, scraping around, and meowing in a pleading tone lol. All 4 of them sleep with us. I only have to say their names once for them to immediately stop doing something. Much better than a kid lol.

Family ties are a strange thing.. some people value them more than others it seems. Even though I was around my family a lot growing up I still don't feel all that attatched.. I could honestly do without, which is a horrible thing to say, but it's true. And it's not like they're bad people either. I think it's that I moved around so much when I was little that I became able to easily break ties with people I haven't seen in awhile. It's a bad coping mechanism... yeah, anyways, that was a bit off topic.
Oh, and I would bet lots of money that euricy is a firm believer in evolution. :) Not that I'm saying that's bad or whatever, it's just the whole gene pool talk.

I was around my family on my mom's side so much i think it broke the ties through too much interaction. I got sick of seeing them. Except for my grandmother I could do without the rest entirely.
Eh I couldn't fault Euricy for believing in evolution even if it were bad. I'm berated for my religious beliefs every day so I never want to do that back even if it's not about their religion either.

It was just a comment. I added the second part trying to cover my six because I know what that's like too and I didn't want to offend anyone. Like I said, I wasn't saying it was bad or anything >.<; I hope she didn't take it the wrong way.

AH Maybe I should clarify.
To me kid means someone who can't fend for themselves in day to day situations.

I think it's great that you have cats :) I noticed you guys talking about them too. I wish I could have cats, lots of them... but I'm very very allergic. :( Oh well. So, when I have the money, I'm getting a puppy! Not quite the same, I know, but it'll make me and my husband happy. He loves dogs.

Ooh. Okay then. haha
But I kinda know what you mean about having no kids...
When I was younger my plan was to get married, have 2 kids, and happily ever after. That's changed now. :\ So I asked my self "Do I really want a kid or are you doing this for your parents?" I don't know. I just hate it when people say "It's a miracle".
Not to me. :\ Oh, and the thought of breast feeding. Ew. It looks like the mom is enjoying it. Which sickens me. And I'm those types of people that probably wouldn't change a bit by having a kid.
It just makes me feel bad because my mom says "You'll see when you have kids. You'll have to do chores and buy things for children when you grow up." She REALLY wants grand children and so does my dad. I'm also their only child. :\ And I'd be ending the family generation. :o

Me and my husband are animal lovers. Besides each other we never get close to people like we do animals. Which is why i think we fell in such love with each other lol. We plan on getting a big house and having lots of different pets. Only one he can't have is a pet spider. I have acute arachniphobia.

:P I'm the end of my amily generation but only on my dad's side. I kind of makes me happy because all my mental disorders come from that side. If I bred my children would carry them on because they're super dominant genes.
She told you you would have to do chores for the baby like it would entice you? Man moms are dumb lol.

Yeah. And partly the reason why I think hate children is because I hate humanity itself. :\
I don't know why. I'm just filled with hate. Its terrible.
I can say a baby is cute and all, but I just don't know if I'll be happy taking care of one. I mean, I don't want to be one of those suicidal moms and have hate for my kids. -.- HORRIBLE LIFE RIGHT THERE. :[ Of course...I could always disown them.

I do in fact believe in evolution.
I bet that Lollirot Doll is most likely a neo-pagan on the comment about being mocked for her religious beliefs.
My point is merely that Lollirot Doll and those like her who hate children so much as to be violent towards them are correct in not having children. Also, the fact that such a trait is defective is that most of the people in the world are programmed to reproduce, it's normal. Spread your genes.
I don't think women have to be stay at home mothers or have to have children but if you decide to not have children, it's probably a very good thing that you don't. I admire women who do have children and take care of them. Doubly so for men. It's hard but rewarding.
I stand by what I said. I am not ignorant, I am just opinionated.

Oh I never hit a child. I just said the noise they make make me want to be violent. I have enough self control to not hurt something annoying but helpless. Not like my dad who thought is was totally ok to strangle me as a kid :D Oh no no I only FEEL like smacking the hell out of annoying kids. I just never do it. Wouldn't be ethical.....though I have spanked one of my cousins for repeatedly disobeying when I told them not to touch something breakable. They could have cut themselves and they broek my favorite figurine. Didn't even spank em hard. Their mom was the one that did that lol.
And bzzzzt wrong. Not neo-pagan. Not that I'm telling you what I am though. I only share that with people that treat me with respect.

Yeah IRL I almost never make friends. Not because I can't but because I really don't like being near people IRL. Sadly people seem to freaking like me. You'd think I was a social butterfly the way people tend to talk to me randomly everywhere.
The only person whose presence i crave is my husband's.

I have friends. It's just I hate how people act these days. From attention whore to an actual whore or something else. It kinda makes me want to be an animal. rofl
But hey...I am still young. So that stuff might change. And I kinda hope it does too. I don't actually like hating people, you know. :[

Ooh, the cootie shot! I remember that too!
Oh for the days when the loss of innocence was at an older age.. it's even changed so much in the past ten years it seems, it's kinda scary. I graduated high school just four years ago and I've been back to do student teaching and then substitute teaching, and it just seems like they're so much different.
And they've all got freakin attitudes (no offense DJ). One student I had had a habit of saying "No one tells me what to do!" Like, what the heck?

I respect your desire not to have kids, and I think your family has no right to pressure you into having them.
I also respect your being antisocial. If you don't want to hang around with people, then you shouldn't have to.
However, I think you're mistaken about children.
Yes, the media is bullshit and would, if you left it to, probably change your kids into shallow assholes. It is not your job to let the media raise your children.
I'm not telling you not to let them watch whatever shows; that's your decision. My parents didn't really monitor my viewing schedules that much. What I am suggesting is that you expose them to things that would give them admirable values: books, movies, and anything else about people you think are worth emulating.
Show them Robin Hood, or Matilda, read them heroic stories.
If you show them enough of the good stuff, they'll have little interest in the trash. :)
Also, you gotta treat 'em reasonably: good for good, punishment and explanations for bad.
Of course, you don't want kids; I'm just telling you that they don't have to turn out rotten.

No one! If you don't want to have kids, that's your choice. Your mom can't make you do anything. If you and your husband agree on that matter, then everything's cool. Do what you want, not what others wish for you to do. Your mom probably is on you about it because she wants grandchildren. =O

damn. that's not right. :/ that's just messed up basically. but i kind of know how it is, my mom thinks she can control every little thing that goes on in my life, everything i want to do, everything i even think about. and i'm 20. it pisses me off because i'm old enough to make my own damn decisions. and plus, she keeps asking when "so when are you going to give me grandchildren?" :/ it's like wtf. i do and i don't want to have children someday. i do because personally i think they're cute and i want to have a family of my own someday. but i don't because i don't want my children to have the same fucked up life i did. i met my father once, when i was 11. i want my children to know their father. i don't want to make the same mistakes my mom did. she made my life hell growing up, i want to keep my children happy. but also, i don't even have a boyfriend, so i'd like to know how she even expects me to have children.

I Loooove kids! I don't see how anyone can hate kids, really. I mean some are bratty, sure, but they're kids. I'm sure a lot of you good folks were bratty from time to time. :P
I reallyreallyreally want kids, but not till I am financially set. I'm too poor right now, and I want my child to want for nothing.
