So what's up with Hitler?

I've noticed Hitler has gotten popular on the internet. What's so good about him now? At first he was all hated and was considered the worst man ever and now he's an internet prodigy.

I think it's discusting, people only do it because they concider themselves "deep" or "different" to like something so hated.

Barghest 07-03-2008 03:57 AM

I think it's more of a novelty then a sincere appreciation for the guy.

But, what context do you mean? Like, "FOR DAH LULZ" or genuine worship?

The impression I get is it's just a shock factor. Like people messing around and saying, ">:U IMMA RAPE YOU!"

mystic kiwi 07-03-2008 03:57 AM

I wondered that too. I don't get a lot of things that are popular over the internet though.

mother 07-03-2008 04:04 AM

Because those lame internet kids think he's all cool.

Well there's some people that I saw that were just so proud of being a nazi and even dressed their avies like nazis. I don't know if it's sincere appreciation, but I have seen some pictures that are just "FOR DA LULZ"

thoughtlessamaya 07-03-2008 04:09 AM

I think its because some people are starting to see his views from a different angle.

I don't approve of what Hitler did, but in some ways, you can say he was a genius. He just used his intellect in the wrong ways. But most people love to make fun of Hitler as well.
Its just the internet. D:

Moogle 07-03-2008 04:14 AM

Yea, well I know what the internet holds for today. And yes, I agree. The guy wasn't dumb at all. He excelled in charisma, which helped him rally supporters in those times with his flawless speeches. I just didn't think that even today he would be glamorized especially the way we are taught about him today.

Slytherclaw 07-03-2008 04:16 AM

Yeah, I agree with what was already posted:
People are starting to think more about what he did.
Plus, you also have the people who are doing it for the shock factor, for the humor, to offend people, or because they like the idea of murder, blood, guts, medical experiments, etc. I have a friend like that...

Anyway, you can't deny that, for all the bad things he did, he did do a few good things too.
Maybe there are people thinking about that too.

Amo_Angelus 07-03-2008 04:16 AM

Actually if you must know At FIRST Hitler was loved and adored. I know he's most famous for some of the worst attrocities in memory, BUT before that he did a lot of good. How do you think he got into power in the first place? Not by bullying, but by promising to take Germany out of a depression. How do you think Germany let him amass enough power to create fear and anger? He kept his promise. He brought Germany out of depression and he was adored for it.

So if you ask me it's only the way of life. Things have come full circle and people are begininng to see some of the good things he did. I don't condone the bad things he did, but I do admire some of the very early things he managed to do.

Yes the holocaust is unforgivable evil, but he did do a lot of good for his country.

Either that or there's a lot of racism out there and Hitlers have always had their supporters and always will. The internet just means you see it more. You don't think Hitler could have done the holocaust without support do you? What? You think that suddenly in the space of a lifetime humanity has evolved to the point where rascism doesn't exist and people won't kill over it? Of course they'll worship Hitler for "Taking justified actions to ensure the superior race prevails over the filthy races".

I'm just suprised that you find this surprising.

You don't see people with his kind of skills like today. He had intellect, and honestly, at this time, that's hard to find.

Moogle 07-03-2008 04:27 AM

Oh. That's the reason for glorifiying? I seriously wanted to know what's so good about him, sooo sorry if I come off disrespectful or something. I guess I understand what's so good about him these days now, but cosplaying nazis and being proud to be one? I wouldn't be too proud of that.

Amo_Angelus 07-03-2008 04:32 AM

Yeah, in the days before Hitler was elected Germany was in serious depression. I mean if you had a basket and crammed it as full of money as possible...they'd steal the basket. It was worth more than the money. Then Hitler came along and promised to lead them out if he was elected. Which he was. And of course the depression ended. Well you know that, look how much a war actually costs? They couldn't have afforded it if they were still in a depression. And that is an amazing thing for one man to accomplish.

No his methods weren't always sane or good. But they worked. And for that he does deserve some recognition. As time goes by eventually he won't be seen as evil incarnate. In a few years he will be able to be viewed as a whole rather than simply as the evil man who murdered jews.

RainbowSuicide 07-03-2008 06:25 AM

well he wasn't always hated and some people that were all for him have passed that on to there kids I know a few kids that are all for him

Han-pan 07-03-2008 01:47 PM

As far as leadership prowess and ability, Hitler was possibly one of the greatest leaders of all time. He caused men, women and children to turn on their neighbors, friends, relatives. It was horrible, yes. But a feat unsurpassed as of yet in my mind, by a leader.
I think the "whee Hitler!" thing on the Internet is in part one of the memes that intend to hurt or offend people.

Kitmew 07-03-2008 01:50 PM

Well some people haven't gotten over the fact that Hitler is...
well..."dead, so they keep saying Hitler's alive and all and
continuing his crazy idea of the Aryan race and being all rude
and racist to others like Russians whom had found Hitler dead.
Or so my friends says to me anyhow. D: Some people just don't
like to let things go the way they are due to no reason
or just plain grudges. Who know?

superlinds 07-03-2008 11:46 PM

I've only seen Hilter related stuff that's made for shock value and for lulz. Nothing else, just an internet meme.

iC[a]ndy 07-04-2008 12:21 AM

Despite the fact that he was an evil ruler, you have to admit that he was a brilliant man to have a whole lot under his control.

Hypomanic Poet 07-04-2008 12:48 AM

They're just doing it so shock people, or be "different", when they're really just being retarded.

Valkyrie_Valentine 07-04-2008 04:34 AM

This is my own opinion, so any Hitler-lovers, please don't take offense!

I find the idolisation of a man so hideously aggresive in his ideals and beliefs a little sickening to say the least.
I'm well aware I didn't know the man in person, nor was I around during the actual war, but judging from what I've learnt (both in school and in my own time) about the man; he wasn't exactly the nicest guy around.
For one thing, his ideals were more then a little contradictory.
He believed the supreme race had to possess blonde hair and blue eyes, yet he had brown hair and brown eyes.
He believed the supreme race had to be German; he was Austrian.
He also believed the supreme race of people had to be intelligent; the only class he ever received high grades in school for was Gymnastics and as good with words as he was, that doesn't make him Einstein.

Yeah, just a few and kinda rant-ish...But I just don't like the guy, my great grandfather and poppy fought in that war, my great grandfather dying after having a large piece of shrapnel embedded in his skull and my poppy being more then a little traumatised. so, I guess I'm prejudiced.
Then again; aren't we all?

Fabby 07-04-2008 07:32 AM

I somehow doubt the people who are worshiping Hitler see him for his good traits.
They're probably in it for the shock factor. He's just the new Pedobear. e_e

Valkyrie_Valentine 07-04-2008 07:58 AM

Good way of putting it Fabby.

solace_entwined 07-05-2008 02:17 AM

The dumbing down of society. We're getting more and more desensitized to things. I hate when people glamorize Hitler, as much as I hate the word rape to be thrown around like it is anymore. People can be very ignorant thoughtless, and uncaring.

Sir.Spoon 07-05-2008 03:21 AM

I think he's interesting.

The Wandering Poet 07-05-2008 07:31 AM

Hitler? He was a tactical IDIOT pretty much... heck he attacked the Soviet Union in the WINTER... who is dumb enough to not constitute for the weather, not to mention they were already under a truce.

Though, before he started the war the people actually loved him. I think it was Churchhill who had a signed picture of him. Who would have thought such an evil person could be loved so much @[email protected]
