I'm not really a religious person (though I do like learning about it) but I do think gay marrige should be legal. I mean church and state are supposed to be separated, yet political people still use their religious views to oppose it? Also, besides the fact that reproduction can't occur, which is why the bible says is unnatural, what harm can it do? Especially considering how overpopulated the world is right now I think we can go without for a little.
Also, fun little fact: Most, if not all, animals are naturally bisexual. So how is being gay unatural? |

So, you are incorrect for that part at least. All three worship the "same" abrahamic god. Also, Muslims have great respect for Jesus as a prophet, but they simply do not believe him to be the son of god (same as Jews), and they do not think he was the last prophet (Muhammad was the last, according to Islam). |
@Keyori: I don't think Jews respect Jesus as a prophet. O.o (And I got my Jewish friend to confirm it.) I mean come on, you don't crucify someone you have great respect for.

How did a debate about gay marriage, turn into a debate about religious icons? Im just throwing that out there since it all went off topic after the original religious reference somewhere in the line(which Im too tired to find and quote, sorry).
But personally, I think they should be alowed to marry. I know, and am friends with, a bunch of homosexual people(both males and females) that would love to be able to go to wherever they practice their religion, and be married by whatever figure head is there. I support my friends in whatever decisions they make, so long as the guys dont hit on me, s'all good. |

@Taviren: Sorry for being ambiguous, I meant that Jews were the same as Muslims in that they don't see Jesus as the divine son of god.
|
@Keyori: Ah! I see. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm christian, okay. But, I'm all for gay marriage. I have friends that are gay, and I want them to be able to have the same rights as me. They should be able to marry the person that they love. I understand where the religious stuff comes in, but we are not supposed to be judgmental. We are not God, we shouldn't try to act like it by condoning anyone for what they feel. This is for the non-believers as well as the believers here, Act like Christ. That's what we're supposed to be doing. Christ didn't judge anyone, he said "he who is without sin may cast the first stone". We all have sin, we should not condemn anyone for who they love, what color they are, or anything. Gays should be able to marry, they should have the same rights as straight people.
|
I'm all for gay marraige. If you love someone and want to be with them forever then i see no reason why they can't get married. Gay people deserve the same rights as everyone else and therefore should be able to marry like everyone else.

I am very upset with my state with the re-voting we did last year on Gay Marriage being legal here. A small group of people who complained about how they did not agree to the first voting of Gay Marriage got a re-voting to occur. What makes me mad is how they rigged the question. They threw religion in there, making it sound like that if gay couples were to get married, the churches were going to be forced into marrying them, even if they disagree to their marriage.
Now Maine no longer supports Gay Marriage. I really don't think other people are to tell gays who they can and cannot marry. If they are happy with another man or another woman, they should have the right to marry them. I felt so bad for this one girl at my college. She wore a sign for awhile that said, "Second class citizen" on it. |
I think theres nothing wrong with gay marrages ;D really its their chioce not the laws decition, well were all kinda same and all got same feelings if u loved someone same sex,it wuldnt really matter, and if some religions or ppl think its gross or wrong u kno they got a dirty mind all ther, thinking about is them in the same bed not ther feelings for eachother =.=

Honestly, I think they should just call them civil unions. I think the name itself is what all the conservatives don't like. I'm fine with just civil unions and I'm a gay man. Too many people get up in arms about the language. It's already allowed in Vermont and New Jersey along with other various states which I'm not really sure of. That's my opinion, the United States is still quite conservative on certain issues like this.
|
The problems with civil unions is that, legally, they're not the same as marriages.

Really? What's the differences? I'm not really solid on that issue. I always assumed that they were the same thing only called something else. |

I'm straight, and defintily all for gay marriage. A couple people in my family are in relationships with the same gender. I can't really say I wouldn't think it was a little awkward around the house if they got married, but... honestly I'd deal. Anyhoo, what I'm trying to say is; If people have someone they love- even if they're the same gender, than they have the right to be together. People who think differently should eat shizz. ; D |

For example, by law, a state is required to recognize a marriage license from any other state. Civil unions, however, are largely non-transferable, and many states specifically will not recognize any civil unions at all. |
Anybody see that show "Prayers for Bobby?"
Wiki Page for the Movie Seriously, I think we should make EVERYONE watch that show and see how they feel after it. It really moved me on how judging ones sexual decisions can really cause a bad affect on everyone. If you haven't seen it, then if you have time, please try to search for it somewhere 'cause it's a really good movie! (and it has that chick from Avatar, Sigourney Weaver! 8DD) oh yea, and it IS based on a true, sad story. |
yes, gays should be allowed the right to get married. it's nobody's buisness but their own what they decide to do with their lives. |

I guess it is just a societal thing that is embedded in the constitution. I mean there are laws about masturbation in some states still on the books and how the missionary position is only allowed. It just goes to show you how involved the government really wants to be in one's life. It is really absurd how the government used to function. @Keyori ~ Really? I didn't know that. I know they have gay marriages in Massachussettes but I thought that most states didn't recognize that. They don't do they? I just figured it was the same with Civil Unions that gay marriage wouldn't be recognized either. Oh well, just goes to show how much I know. |
States are supposed to recognize other state marriages, but several states, such as Texas, Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, and Florida, have one or more laws that specifically ensure that gay marriages from other states are not recognized. These laws have yet to be challenged in court, though I imagine that we will start seeing these challenges within the next few years.

Gay marriage is a simple question.
The answer is YES. I've seen people write about how marriage is suppose to be sacred. Tell me. What could be a more sacred marriage than two people marrying the person they love. Whether they are the same sex or not. In truth, marriage it's self has been made into a joke it would seem. If two want to get married how the hell is that going to affect everyone else? It's not anybody else's life and they need to get over themselves. Marriage and Church are suppose to be separate. But that obviously doesn't happen. We need to live our own lives and leave everybody else's alone. It's just sad. |
Heterosexual. Homosexual.
We are forgetting a very important part. These are people. They eat, sleep, breathe, and function as you and I do. Why should they be shunned because they love someone, be they opposite or same-sex? This topic deserves light treading, but it sickens me. People heard homosexuals into this universally disgusting 'group', in which they tease the living daylights out of. They treat these people as if they are some kind of bacteria, or virus. But they cannot see past their narrow-mindedness enough to see the most important part: THEY ARE JUST PEOPLE. If they want to marry, then let them marry. Their love is no different from their heterosexual neighbor. It's not fair that they shouldn't be allowed to express it. Love is not bound in a paper document. There is more to life than just seeing. So if you're asking my opinion, I say: Yes. |
I so approve of gay marriages so what if they're of the same gender they are humans and should not be looked down to, (I'm not saying this to the people here I just know certain people that look down to to them) it's not they're fault for being in love with a other human of the same gender if they love each other and willing to be together it should be all good of course not everyone shares the same opinion.

However, because there are also laws, tax credits, etc. that go with being married. There should be a legal mirror that will provide all the legal benefits without stepping on any religious toes. It should be purely formal, perhaps a form the couple could fill out that gives them the rights without any of the title. If anything happens down the road, they can simply have that action removed and be on with it. There's no need for an actual divorce since they were never married. |
