And, if you looked, I bet you'd find a different educational program about the world ending that says something completely different. |

Let's see here...to whoever keeps bringing up the "moving to another planet" theory. Hypothetically, if we're talking about billions of years in the future--assuming that we'll still be alive in a few billion years, we will have the technology to do that, and probably already would have done so before the world was even remotely close to ending.
Secondly, the Mayans never said the world would end. There are no predictions written in stone in any Mayan temple that predicted such a thing. They simply had the luck of their calender ending in 2012, and the bad luck of not being able to continue it. Said calendar that is ending in 2012 is the Mayan Long Count calendar, which consists of 5,125 years. The Mayans themselves predicted five periods of this calendar. After each of these the world is destroyed and remade. We are living in the fifth, so people think that there will not be a period of rebirth after the period of destruction, when the truth is that there will be a period of rebirth. We have nothing to worry about, existing (yes there are still some alive) Mayan elders have said this. Your source, for those who will complain that I'm full of B.S. Finally, I'd like to know what "educational" program you watched about 2012, because, as a teacher once told me: "any educational program that's interesting is only there to make money and is utter crap." If you saw it on the History Channel, it holds no standing in this debate. |
though there have been a lot of bad nature events happening going on like earthquakes, tsunamis and whatnot......but Sora doesn't believe in 2012.........to Sora, it'll be like what people thought of for the year 2000.
however, if 2012 DOES happen, Sora owes you all who DO believe in it $5...........kekekkekeke |
The world could end in 2012. It could end tomorrow, you never know. There's no proof it will end, there's no proof it won't. So I decide to not waste my time worrying about it
|
I am a christian, it is clearly stated in the bible that we will not be able to predict the end of the world, yes, I am a Christian and my avatar is naked, don't judge me.
|
I don't think it will. Now, I do believe something is going to happen, simply because a lot do think SOMETHING will happen. But not the world's end. Perhaps something big but not so scandalous, but because people are expecting chaos, they will make something big into something scandalous. That or we are the ones making a scandal on 2012

I don't think it will end, but I do have some questions for people who think it will.
1. (For those that bring Nostradamus' predictions into the 2012 conspiricy) Did you know that Nostradamus was a known and historically recorded opium addict? Perhaps his 'predictions' where just the inane writings of a man going through an Opium high? 2. With all the earthquakes and tsunami's and natural disasters lately, scientists have said that the Earths rotation actually shifted (I have no source for this, so if it is incorrect please tell me and I will fix it), so wouldn't that effect the world ending in 2012, and change it to a different date? 3. (For the people freaking out about global warming playing a part in 2012) The Earth has been warming and cooling itself for eons. The Earth is millions upon millions of years old. We know there has been several drastic climate changes before humanity as we knew it evolved. Why wouldn't the Earth continue to cool and warm, just as it was doing before, to the point of another extreme climate change. Granted pollution isn't helping, but pollution is not the main cause of Global Warming. I don't ask these questions to mock, This is just the logic that my mind pulls together... |
I disagree with you on Global Warming, but I don't believe it will end the world in 2012 and this isn't a debate about its existence, so I won't argue ^^
I think it's pointless to say for sure that the world will not end in 2012. You have no way of knowing. For all you know, it might end. |
well Roze, if it does end and I'm wrong, then I'm wrong. But as of this moment nothing has been brought to my attention to change my opinion, so I refuse to join the panicing masses. I didn't freak out during the 'Y2K' scare (1999-2000), and I will not freak out during 2012. For all I know I could get into a car accident and die on December 21st 2012, and my world would end. But I am not the kind of person to worry about things that are beyond my ability to alter or control.
|
Yeah, I'm not saying to panic and worry about the world ending, I'm just saying that you can't say for sure that it won't end. I didn't freak in year 2000 either, but then I was only about 5 years old then so I don't suppose that counts ^^
|
Ok 2012 is just a bunch of bull. Some guy just thought it'd be funny to spread a rumor like the world is going to end in 2012, and people believed it. Do you guys not remember that they said the same thing about 1980 something and 1999 and even before that, 1950 something? But guess what? We're all still here. I mean don't get me wrong, I do believe that the apocalypse is coming but who's to say it's 2012? I'm pretty sure it's not, and if it does come then, it'll just be a coincidence.

I'm with Elysium. I know several people that are decendants of the ancient Mayans, whom have studied their family histories, and the histories of the ancient Mayans, and they say it's possible there could be more calendars, it's possible they've been hidin or destroyed. But in no way do they believe that 2012 will be the end of the world.
|
I'm kind of iffy on this subject. I'm kind of with Elysium, because there was always a period of rebirth after, which leads me to believe that will be rebirth once again. When it will happen, nobody is for certain on that and nobody will be until it happens. Yes, I am a Catholic Christian, but that really doesn't have an effect on my opinion. I really won't believe it much until it happens.

I thought the whole thing with the Mayans was that their calender ended at 2012
|
Guess so, but it was a New Age..
|
Well they had to end their claender at some point, didn't they? Maybe they just assumed that when they reached 2012 they'd make a new one
