Alot of my friends are married and say that if you love someone and going to be with them marriage them.. I personal dont think that you should have to marry someone to show that you love them and will be with them forever.. I would rather have someone wake up be side me because they want to not because a paper say that they have to.. I do live with man I'm going to spend the rest of my life with, but some members of my family and not just older memeber fine this very wrong... so just want to see what you all think about it!

I sortof agree. :)
If I love someone, I love someone, and if I want to spend the rest of my life with someone, I will try to, married or not.

But, I also do want to get married eventually, because in part, all the benefits it provides. Marriage is really just a legal thing, and less about love than most people want to admit. :P

As Monstahh said, the legal benefits are pretty huge. Besides that, marriage doesn't necessarily make you obligated to do anything. Your husband/wife can still walk out on you at any time. For some people it's validating and makes them feel safer and more important. It's not necessarily important to me, but I'll probably get married some day if the state I end up living in legalizes it.

Marriage is a piece of paper (and a few legal benefits, as mentioned before). My husband and I have considered ourselves married for much longer than the state has.

Likewise, that piece of paper doesn't make us any more or less likely to stay together should our relationship sour.
