If this weren't a collector's item, I'd understand where the parents were coming from, however, this IS a collector's item. It's not like they HAVE to give this doll to their little girls just because this doll exists. I mean, considering I was a little girl once, I have quite a collection of Barbies. None of them are as well taken care of. My parents did give me a collector's doll once, and it didn't end well. Personally, I really like this doll. The tattoos are quite pretty, and the pink bob and punkish clothes appeal to me from a fashion standpoint. Barbie is a fashion doll, too, and that certainly is modern fashion. I'd consider buying this doll, and I haven't really wanted to buy a doll for a long time. This doll is for collectors, not for little girls. I'd understand the parents' dismay if this was being marketed as a children's toy, but it's not. My opinion? The parents should cool their jets.
