What's everyone's take on President Bush's War on Terror, or the "Axis of Evil," for that matter? Was the War on Terror right or wrong to start off with, or did it begin with a righteous cause and then escalate into something to be ashamed of? Should we have pulled out ages ago; should we pull out now or at all?

Also, the reaction to 9/11. I bring this up because it does relate to the war on terror, as the President continually mentions it during various speeches to no doubt spur our anger and rally our hopes and support. What do you all think of how the US and media reacted? I'm not saying it was poor judgment to mourn--not at all. In fact, I would've thought it odd if we hadn't. But the movies and the documentaries and the hype just made everything seem so corrupt, or at least impure, as if the media were twisting the stories and the sorrow of these poor people either to make money, produce propaganda, or both. How do you guys feel?

As for the war, personally, I really can't be sure what to do anymore. To pull out or stay in--for me, it feels as if we don't have enough information, and we can't predict the future, so I can't really hold an opinion on what we should do exactly. What seems wrong, though, is that Bush just keeps and keeps the troops there, ticking off the locals and putting everyone in danger. And what's more: he refuses to even give a consistent estimate on when the troops will pull out. An exact date he finds destestable and insulting--fine, whatever, don't set an exact date. But as for even a rough estimate of the period of time our troops will be there, no one at the White House seems able to give a consistent answer.

No one I know personally has had to leave as of yet, but so many of my friends have had loved ones who've gone, and for what?

I personally don't think we should have occupied Iraq in the first place. The situation there is a civil war between the Sunnis and Shiites. The majority of the population there does not want us there. Our soldiers are dying everyday because Bush has put them in the middle of this civil war. Bush himself has said that if it was acctually a civil war, we would not be involved. The man is in a state of denial, that's for sure. As far as pulling our troops out now...that's a much more difficult issue. I would love to see them all come home so we don't have to lose anymore lives over there. But, it feels like we are now too much involved to just leave. Although, maybe we should leave so the new Iraqi government would be forced to get their sh*t together and run their country without our help. As you can tell, I'm a bit torn on that issue.
Another thing that many people seem to forget about is that we also have troops in Afghanistan. I feel that is where we should be concentrating our efforts. Well, really, we need to find Osama Bin Laden and we aren't going to find him in Iraq. Iraq and Saddam are scapegoats for Bush and his "War on Terror." He knew that it would be "easier" to invade Iraq and remove Saddam from power than it would be to actually go after Bin Laden and Al Quaida.

I think because of my age (I'm 30), I tend to know more people that have been to Iraq. They tend to have very mixed feelings depending on their experiences. I have a coworker, she was a medic and saw many terrible things. She saw so many people die and get horribly injured. She suffers so much because of the things she saw...they weigh heavily on her mind. Also, she is very much against the troops staying and the war going on endlessly.

9/11...wow, it's still hard for me to talk about it which is weird because I live no where near NYC. Anyway, I cannot stand the fact that anyone has made money off such a horrible tragedy. I have not seen any of the movies made about that day, so I can't really say if they were completely innappropriate or not. I do have a problem with each and every politician who has used 9/11 for their own advantage. President Bush & Rudy Guiliani are the two key ones. Bush obviously uses 9/11 to push his own crazy agenda. Guiliani gets paid huge sums of money to speak about his handling of the crisis. I'm not going to get started on good ol' Rudy though because I'll never shut up. Suffice it to say, I don't believe he did a very good job of handling the aftermath at all.

Thank you. I truthfully wasn't expecting all that to come out of me, but I got started and just couldn't stop. ;)

@ amersemt : well... you sums it all so well >.< we french though that something would happen like that. Taking a dictator out is a good thing but he help avoiding those internal conflit. Now... with the war, if USa got off, leaving just a mess behind like they did before... well, I don't think there will be a good solution now. soldiers are getting completly crazy there and they don't know what they are fighting for anymore...
