what i think will end the world? GOD! the raptue is not so famous on my scale, however teh bible does state that he controls the world, and has the power to destroy it, not a direct qoute i mind you. SO i think onc3e he decides that peopel are striving to fgar away form him, he willl call teh worthy, and destroy the unworthy.

I assume naturally when anybody asks a question like this, what they really mean is, 'What will kill off the human race, or such lifeforms.'

In that instance, my answer is the human race itself.

As to the actual end of the world, where it ceases to exist, i think just old age, as planets die naturally. Or as somebody pointed out beforehand, the growth of the sun, which may lead to the engulment of Earth. Or the collision of our galaxy and neighbouring Andromeda.

I don't think the world will end in 2012. I've herd one theory about Star/Indigo/rainbow children, (basically children whith some kind of psychic power) will lead the world into a better era, with the manifestation of psychic energies on the Earth, as opposed to the realm they are said to inhabbit now, so on and so forth.

I'm not sure as to weather i believe that, but with many different cultures pointing to the same year, i think something might happen. Perhaps a once in a lifetime luna display of some kind or other.

i think that there will be a meteor that will hit the earth, but just nick the planet, but it will cause enough damage to cause our planet to spin out of orbit and gradually keep spinning away from the sun, thus, causing the next ice age.

On January 21, of this year, a meteor is supposed to hit Mars. I don't quite know what that will do.

But I'm a big believer in Nostradamus(sp?) and the three fates, and the wheel. I think that's how the world will end. I don't want it to, though.

End of the world depends on the religion you deprive on really.

Like, Christians say Jesus will come down and deliver all the believers to heaven, and the non-believers go somewhere else "away from God". I don't really believe that much myself, but I don't want to be flaming anybody's religion. I mean...I was once Christian myself.

But my own personal view on the end of the world is that pollution and global warming will melt the polar ice caps, then the earth wil be all flooded and wet...and corpse-ey (dead people floating around everywhere). Reasons of so saying...we brought it upon ourselves. People killed the earth, people lived on the earth.

We were given a chance to make the earth a nice place to live, but we ended up destroying it in terms of personal gain. And in some other cases: personal glory.

We are such awful creatures, are we not?

I'm going to be imaginative... I think maybe a huge bbomb dropped on us by aliens! Then maybe we'll all have to live on... OTHER PEOPLE! Dude! It's the ultimate apopcalypse!

There's a theory going around that on the winter solstice of 2012, the earth and the sun will line up with the ginormous black hole in the middle of our galaxy. The poles will shift radically in hours or days, causing global chaos.
The Mayans and the Chinese I Ching also have that day marked as the end of the world.

We'll just have to wait and see..

Right now I'm seeing global warming as a likely culprit. First, island countries will drown as the sea rises. Costal areas will also meet this fate, though some will manage to leave in time. People will become over crowded in the suddenly smaller living space. This will in turn help the diseases already running rampant from the climate that is now humid everywhere all year long. People will no longer be able to live at the equator for it will be too hot. If we are lucky, a forth of earth's population will survive the flooding, food shortages, and rampant disease.

My favorite is that we get sucked into a blackhole, I just love that idea so much for some reason, lol

Another more likely possibility though is a meteor hitting the earth, like it did with the dinosaurs, except instant death and not that suffering period. That would suck... of course I hope I'm dead then...

the moon will collide with earth is another possibility since it moves closer or the sun exploding since it is a giant star, which will likely create a black hole... and yeah, now you know how I got that idea, lol

I think the 2012 thing is a load of bull ... It's just the end of their calender, not the end of the world.

I mean come on, if we based everything of calanders this planet would be over by the time I finish my 2008 calender.

It honestly depends on what other people's beliefs are. With mine, I believe that there'll be yet another meteor to hit the earth and just make it asplode like the ones in the stories or just like the ones upon television. I believe that it is way way too warm for another ice age, so that is just impossible unless the climate decides to flip flop upside down. As of recently, it's been way too hot to even produce miracle snow that I love to make angels in and snowboard in. It's just been spitting ice every one in a while, then it's back to 5O-6O degrees in January when it used to be 1O-2O.

The human kinds end may or may not come through our own actions, but THE end of the World will be something we, or any other intelligent race for that matter, won't be able to affect. Most likely Earth will be inhabitable even before our darling sun explodes, but only because of the condition it will be in before it finally does. Becore that we can be hit by meteors, some of them could be big enough to blow the earth to smithereens.

Of course human race may survive, if we learn to build massive spaceships with which to launch ourselves to the space, but many scientists seem to doubt our chances.

I've heard of this conspiracy theory with the timelines of the ancient civilizations and prophecies and stuff and I just think people are taking predictions WAY too seriously. The Maya calendar ENDS in 2012. Just because this calendar stopped doesn't mean that the world could be over. Did you stop to think that maybe they weren't finished calculating the rest of it?

You could predict that one day there will be a giant war that will destroy every person off the face of this earth. People thought that with many wars, especially WWII. Where are we today? 6 billion people in the world still, 60 years later.

Predictions are nothing. I'm sick of hearing this little theory that the world will be over. It's the next Y2K. People thought the world would end in 2000 when the second millennium hit. So, what, are we going to have a routine scare of "the world ending" every twelve years or so now? We should make a set holiday for everyone to have a scare-fest.

For a human, the word will end when they die.

For the earth itself, already witnesses the death of gazillion humans, when it's finally has to meet its end and die, I hope it can die a natural death.

Ice Age seems to be fitting, since it won't go into an eternal death but only through hibernation.
Someday everything will melt away, it will be reborn and regrow everything to life once again.

Human stupidity and pride. I can't think of any good things that we haven't ruined as a race yet.

I think we the people will end the world. Face it, we are all messed up in some way. We can try to change it, but we are a race that are killing each other and everything with it. I think being human is a joke, we aren't a superior race, we are so dang stupid. The world is currently dying, believe it or not.

I really hope that if there is a species eradication of the human race, that it happens quickly. But I think the 2012 theory is pretty creepy, only because all the old major religions and such all came to the same conclusion at didn't periods in time :shock: But who knows anything can happen, If there is not a MAJOR catastrophe, there will be a pandemic, or natural occurrences (floods, wild fires, tornadoes, ect...) that will thin out the human race, but not completely eradicate us. We'll end up space cowboys like on cowboy bebop :wink:
