There have been many theory's, like another ice age (even though humans have previously survived these), nukes, global warming, and a huge meteor.

What do you think will end the World as we know it?

It'll probably end with another world war. We have so much technology these days, all this military stuff, that it'll just blow up our planet as we know it. I could see us literally destroying ourselves with another world war, especially since the governments of many of the countries in the world are pretty damn stubborn. :\

When our Sun reaches the end of its current stage, it will get bigger in size and consume the innner planets (Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars) due to it's increase in gravity.
Orr.. something like that 8)

That will be our end. Sure there's going to be wars, people will set nukes off and there'll be global warming, but is that really enough to bring a huge lump of rock floating in space to an end? No. We've had so many wars and meteorites have crashed all over the place and yet, we're still here :)

o3o We (being the future members of the human race, not we personally right-now, duh) might have moved off the Earth by the time it 'ends'.

Some country or another is going to end up hitting the nuke button and destroying humanity. After that, all that will be left is cockroaches!

I believe the world will end when the Antichrist has had his reign and Jesus comes back to end it.

  • I think...more on the line of mass natural destruction or a nuclear war!

Technically I believe that will be the END OF EARTH.

Our world as we know it - as in our culture, our race, everything, will likely be destroyed by the human race. xD

I'm pretty confident in saying a nuclear holocaust will wipe out humanity.

Well personally mother nature always renews itself and we may die out before we see the true end of the world. People say we will destroy the world but personally nature knows better then to let us go that far into destroying this world. People need to understand global warming is not the end all of the world but a new transition. It just so happens it is happening to fast because of human stupidity. Eventually we may adapt to it or not. I am sure in the next 50 years we will see drastic change. That does not mean the end though. It maybe for us but not the world.

I flicked on the radio this morning and out came an unusual song, considering the station I was listening to. The refrain was 'It's the end of the world as we know it.' (If you know the specs on that song and would share, I would be most obliged. I didn't catch the info...too busy driving.)

It's an interesting musing, to have made early in the morning, that the world has seen 'the end of the world as we know it' a number of times. The industrial revolution. Automobiles. The advent of the Suburbs. The Personal Computer. The Internet. The ISS.

Each of those things has produced a wild tangent in the normally circular way of life that we have developed, and changed the world forever.

As to the physical end of the world...
I don't think we'll see it. Or that we'll realize what's going on, at any rate. I've a number of theories, all of them based on the simple fact that humans have become incredibly earth-conscious and nature is rapidly adapting to its new environ as we stem the rapid flow of deadly change. Mother Nature does an excellent job of keeping her head above the water, so to speak.

- We will have altered nature enough (or nature will have adapted to our crushing occupation enough so) that the earth no longer provides for our relatively stubborn genotype.

- We will have met the stars and dispersed across a small sector of the galaxy, inhabiting earth-like planets, et cetera, et cetera...

- If all else fails, the sun will die a star's death and the world will be swallowed in the expanding death shroud of molten metals and searing gasses shortly after we realize the sun's light has gone out entirely. Les than ten minutes, and the atmosphere will be gone, the water will have boiled away and if anything survived...well, it won't.

We have two threats that are currently more previlent then the others. The first threat is the threat of the nuclear weapons of mass destruction that this world currently holds. We have enough weaponry to blow up the earth 7 times over. This could imediately cause us all to die in an instant.

Our second biggest threat is the fact that the bees are dying off in giant droves. We rely on the hunny bees to polinate the wildlife. Without them the plantlife will dye off and without the plantlife we dye. This process would happen rather quickly.....within 2 years after the last be died. We would not have a chance to adapt.

We stand a chance of surviving the others through evolution.

This is how the world ends?

This is how the world ends?

THIS is how the world ends?

Not with a bang, but a whimper?

^Quote from The Hollow Men by T.S. Eliot. Fabulous poem, and I imagine someone accurate. We're all so afraid of Apocolypses or Nuclear wars, or what not, that it'll probably be something almost seemingly insignificant, a slow decay or the ilk.

Just my opinion though.

I'm positive human beings will fuck it all up for the other creatures on this planet. nd when given the chance they'll ruin other planets aswell. I suggest we put anend to all of these bastards now there's still time.
