well i just heard that they could not appeal what bush did. and i cant believe he did that ...no what yes i can he should be in hell just like all the terrorist. he is hurting this country people from new born to the soldier in war!

what is your opinion of the schip bill

for those of you who dont know what the schip bill is.

the united states president just veto(did not sign the bill or forbid) a new bill that helped uninsured united states kids get health care.

here is a statement on who gets these benefits:

the program covers about 6.7 million children whose families are low-income but not poor enough to qualify for Medic
here is a part of an article about what they are deciding to do:

The congressional bill, a compromise between Democrats and leading Senate Republicans, called for spending $60 billion over five years to cover about 10 million children.

Bush has proposed spending $30 billion over five years. Although the figure represents a 20 percent increase over current funding, independent analysts said it would not be enough to keep serving the same number of children now covered.

Ah yes, I've heard quite a bit about this. I don't fully understand it, but I've got some idea.

And, well, I find the opposition to socialised medicine in the US to be thoroughly odd. We've had a nationalised healthcare system in the UK for over 60 years. The NHS is by no means perfect, but it does at least guarantee medical treatment to those who need it. And I'd say that medical treatment is a human right. The idea of leaving people to die because they can't afford healthcare seems barbaric to me. I don't see how American politicians can possibly justify not having systems in place to look after people like that. I know you've got Medicare and welfare systems and such, but I find it hard to see how a country can go for so long with a wholly private healthcare system, especially one as wealthy as the US.

yes i agree that health care should be a person right. the schip bill was mostly for people who are borderline they are not consider poor but not well enough to be consider anything else either. if something would change from their life style these people will not have anything to rely on.

I've always hated that the US is so solid in its belief that health care shouldn't be sociliazed or whatever you'd like to call it. I was always mesmerized when I heard of the health care system in Canada and the UK. Thinking that it sounded like a very good idea and thought the US was very, very dumb for not following their example.

Instead it keeps to the ways that make doctors MORE money and keeps people in the back lines not caring one bit if people can or cannot afford the health care they need. Why should only rich people or those who can afford it in general be able to get a surgery when they need it?

Sure most places do life saving surgery if it's neccessary, but more often than not they still send someone in the family the bill. My family had to hold countless fund raisers to pay for my uncle's surgery, hospital stay, and physical therapy after he had a brain tumour removed because he didn't have insurance. I feel that socialized health care like that in the UK or Canada would have prevented that.

My thoughts on the disability people are a lot worse and involve many curse words. So yea...
