A Quick Question...

If a woman is ill with a serious disease/condition/etc and becomes pregnant but the baby won't be able to grow/live so she has it removed.... What might that be called?
abortion? still born?
I'm not so sure and I'm wondering if you all could help me out.

I went to Catholic school my whole life, and the Catholic opinion (not that I am practicing that religion) is that if a pregnant woman is so ill/disease conflicted that carrying a child will endanger the woman's own life, it is not considered abortion to "remove" the child. Basically, they say that if you are pregnant and somehow being pregnant is going to kill you, you can save yourself instead of the baby.

yes it is considered abortion technically speaking since they will/going to have it removed. But i think that the women would have a good excuse or reason to have it done since the baby wouldntt live anyway, why not put it out of his misery and save the mother in a process. Hopefully that doesnt sound as bad as im saying it but thats pretty much it in a nut shell. and yes if i was in the position i think i would save myself. and also just saying but if the baby could live but couldnt be taken out natrually there is always c-section to consider

It's abortion. Even miscarriages are medically considered "spontaneous abortion."

Being physically impossible to carry a pregnancy to term is definitely possible, especially when the girl/woman is very young, very ill, or is undergoing certain treatments (such as chemotherapy). It can also happen to women who are perfectly healthy, such as with an ectopic pregnancy (wherein the fertilized egg implants somewhere other than the uterus, usually the fallopian tube). In that case, there's virtually no chance that the fetus will survive, and it is incredibly dangerous to the woman carrying it - even early in the pregnancy.
