At the end of June, my family and I are going on a 'missions trip' to Kentucky. So, for the past few months i've been getting to know all of the people coming with.

Today one of those people died in a plane crash with his dad.

Its all really sudden. It feels weird and scary, not real at all. How do you deal with the death of someone you've just gotten to know?

That's rough. But you have to honor that person for who you knew him to be. Go forward in your mission and work as if you are working for the both of you. Continue in the legacy of his faith so that, even though he's gone, his faith, along with your own, can still transform the world.

I agree with what white_rose_pheonix said. And you should continue the mission and know that your friend is with you in spirit to encourage you on.
Also, it might make you feel better to talk to him and ask him to be with you all while you and the group go to Kentucky. I realize you just met and all, but if you're so affected to need to ask what to do, I think that's close enough to do so.
