I'm 18, I don't drive, and I failed by driving test TWICE. I feel absolutely retarded, MOST people can pass the first time. The first time I took my driver's test, I got the most strictest meanest military-like instructor ever. So I felt, well, I was nervous and I made mistakes so it's okay. But he marked me off for not looking down an intersection when I had the green, and I did. My head/neck got a full workout while I was driving. But I let it off because it was my first time.
Today, I took it at another place with a friendlier environment, and I felt like my end results were great but when the instructor counted up the points. 16 WRONG. I can only get 15 wrong. I am so pissed off right now..and what she marked me on for? Looking over my shoulder when changing lanes. OH MY GOD. I want to throw my chair out the window right now. I keep getting marked off for that, and I LOOK. I turn my head and shoulders and it's not a "LOOK GO" check, I turn and look for like 5 seconds since California drivers rip down service streets like it's a highway.
I don't even know what to do anymore. I am I supposta be like "I AM CHANGING LANES LOOKIT ME". Because for some odd reason, they DON'T see me. I am going insane right now. I really need my license because I need some way to get to college. I really don't want to take the bus, and I know people take still take the bus so it's not all that bad but I want that freedom of "Oh, before I go home, I want a boba". Now I really want a boba. :( But the point is this whole failing the drivers test is making me feel like a total idiot. I feel so stupid right now.

Please don't worry that much about it.
When I was 15, I saw a friend of mine's father go off a 50foot hill in a truck. I was freaking out when I turned 16. So I didn't get my license until I was 25...aka last year. I felt so stupid because I knew that all of my friends were driving. And to be honest with you, driving is a personal choice. I know that you will get it in time. Third time is a charm, perhaps!!!! *winks*
Good luck.

I failed my driving test twice too, and I got it on the third time. Third time lucky - hope the same goes for you. :)
Did your examiners go through your mistakes with you, or did they just hand you the sheet of paper? They should've told you exactly what went wrong and where you made the mistake, location-wise.
I'm not sure if you've exaggerated it or not, but you shouldn't be looking over your shoulder for 5 seconds. That's actually a really long time and if the car in front of you suddenly brakes, you'll probably end up rear-ending them. :( A glance in the rear-view mirror and a quick glance over your shoulder should be sufficient. You should be able to catch any cars speeding behind you when you glance in the rear-view mirror.
If that's not your problem and all else fails, I seriously recommend that you say "blind spot" or "over the shoulder" when you do it. Pretend you're talking to yourself and ticking off an imaginary checklist, but make it loud enough for the examiner to take notice. :)
Best of luck for your next test. *hands you some boba* ;3

I'm 20 years old and I've never taken my driving test. Actually I just started to learn to drive this summer! So you aren't alone D: But I'm sure that with some practice you'll pass it! Some people I know took the test 4-5 times before they passed it!!

I'm 18 and I still haven't gone for my test. I was able to take my test on Nov. 19 2007. But I didn't. I hate driving. I freeze, I freak out. Even with my older sister in the passenger seat, I started to cry once, simply because I don't know how to deal with the rules and responsibilities of driving. So don't feel to bad. When your ready, (not before!) just retake the test. I'm sure you'll succeed.

Awh, don't feel bad! I'm eighteen too and I got my license in May. Before then, I was pretty much the only one out of all my friends who wasn't driving. I auto-failed my first test because I backed up onto the curb when I had to pull over and back up. :/ My first instructor was also really mean and irritable, and being nervous about that does make a BIG difference in how you drive! I'm sure you'll pass your next test, since it seems like you know how to drive. :) Just be sure to go slow (speed limit) and exaggerate actions like looking both ways at intersections and stop signs and looking over your shoulder when switching lanes. Good luck!!

Im 17 and don´t drive either.
Mostly cause im scared of the wheel, if you get what I mean.
If I had the choice, I wouldnt drive, but college is getting closer and I need to get my drivers license as well.
Heck, I dont even have a permit.
You´ll get it shortly, don´t stress yourself too much.

My sister had about four cars before she learned how to drive.
She gave them all to her boyfriend [now husband]. She didn't learn how to drive until she was 20 and it took her three years before she'd go on freeways.

Well... I'm 20 years old and I've never taken my driving test, just like someone above just said.
I know you can get REALLY angry and just want to hit someone... but I heard of people that are trying for like... 4 times...
If they're complaining about this, make your best to don't do it... those guys can be really... like... "GRAUR"!!!
So just try to make the test totally focused on it... don't even blink if you think you shouldn't.
Try asking a friend or a parent to help you training or something.
Don't be so mad, I'm sure you'll soon get your license!!

everyone has times like these and the only thing you can do is keep trying. And who gives a damn if you failed! You tried and as long as you keep trying you will get it. i promise you that but you have to keep trying trust me. I know many people who have taken it numerous times and are great drivers. But they pulled through and you can too. And don't beat yourself up!!! That makes everything worse!!! And pulling through starts with a good mind set. (its a trick i use and it works)
