Does it make me a horrible person that I don't want to be involved with my own family?

Nope. Everyone's got their own drama.

or the fact that right now she is on the phone crying to me and all I want to do is get off the phone 'cause she's bringing me down?

Well...nobody likes to deal with crying people, but I do think it is your responsibility to comfort her whether or not you like it. She's your family, after all.

I'm still on the phone with her, and I'm listening to her. But it doesn't change how I feel about her at all. I knew I should never have answered the phone.

There are a lot of people that feel that way about their family. Most of the time, it's better to grin and bear it.

I did it for years and I still have to do it sometimes.

if they have problems,, i usually get myself involve...
sometimes, its frustrating how i cant be a part of the solution....
but still, i'm helping them in my own little ways

Hmm well probably tell her to calm herself, or either just listen to her.

I don't know, I don't have much problems with my family since they don't like emotional stuff. Until it's something big, and of course at the last minute.

I know it SOUNDS terrible on paper, but I'm that way with my sister. I hate having to deal with her when she cries, but it's mostly because she's so insensitive to me when I'm upset. =/

I'm sure many people feel the same as you do. Dealing with people crying on the phone somewhat bugs me, but it also makes me feel happy to know that they trust me enough to talk to me about their feelings. I know your family might seem like annoying pain in the asses now, but trust me when I say that family is the most important part of life. I've lost a few family members recently, and I'd give anything to get them back and spend more time with them. They won't always be around, so cherish each moment you spend with them.

It's hard to make a judgement call on this issue when I know next to nothing about you.
